Axil Coffee Roasters reviews
67First time eating at Axil. The coffee was good, but the food was terrible, which is disappointing considering all of the positive reviews. We ordered three dishes. None of which were any good. Firstly, the baked eggs (or should that be egg?) were accompanied with cold toast. The peperonata had the consistency of a soup and couldn’t be eaten with the provided knife and fork. The inclusion of whole coriander seeds meant the dish just tasted of coriander seeds (duh). Secondly, the salmon fritters were visually unappealing and not nice to eat. Finally, the scrambled eggs and bacon on toast were swimming in oil. Three unfinished dishes. Last time eating at Axil.
Ordered something and it was dry, like a day old. Also coffee was cold. Disappointing the place is slipping.
Ordered the haloumi focaccia, which was ordinary.had a very burnt taste to it, which I think was from the grilled eggplant which was burnt. The capaccino was also just ordinary. Their chadstone store is so much better, which is surprising given that the hawthorn store is supposed to be their main store?
Coffee was good, they kept up with their reputation. Service staff were polite and helpful. Only concern was the coffees arrived 30 mins after ordering and after we had finished our meals. Otherwise they have a great menu with all your usual options expected at a reptile table cafe/restaurant.
This place is a pale shadow of its former self … coffee was weak … current food menu is uninspiring … could’ve done a better scrambled eggs on toast myself … and to rub it in 10% surcharge on weekends! I would’ve given this venue a 1 star rating if not for the friendly and helpful team members
Every single element on the dishes were perfect in taste and presentation. Coffee is always the best. I was so happy with the service too they showed such care for our baby too.
Service was quick and attentive. Friendly staff. Menu was good and food presentation was great. Ham hock Benedict was delicious.
Enjoyed the Columbia roast espresso too!
The perfect Sunday brunch spot with friends. Amazing range of beans and blends for the ultimate coffee snob
Excellent food and service. Our food arrived very quickly from friendly and accommodating staff. Poached eggs cooked to perfection!
2021- went for lunch with my sister and had a great time. I had a crispy chicken burger which was delicious and she had a lamb sandwich which she loved. With amazing coffee and recommend going for lunch or if a coffee is needed.
2019- Picked up a coffee grinder 10 mins before they shut. Staff was nice and helpful.
Awesome spot to have a brunch/lunch. We ordered:
️ Zucchini, corn & haloumi fritters w/ poached egg, avocado, crispy sweet potato, spinach & tomato relish
Horseradish & chilli scramble on rye toast w/ sauerkraut cured salmon, broad beans, peas, asparagus, heirloom beetroot & charred lemon [GFO]
Red velvet pancakes w/ raspberries, black sesame ice cream, cream cheese ganache & chocolate brownie soil [V]
Zucchini, corn & haloumi fritters along with Red velvet pancakes has been on their menu since Day 1 (around 10 years) and they are both worthy of the permanent place.
The fritters are full of flavour and the tomato relish is superb - super refreshing as it cuts through the richness of all the elements on the plate, yummy! The Red Velvet Pancakes is also amazing and being the only dessert on the menu, it did not dissapoint at all - rightly balance without being overly sweet and the raspberries element is super fresh on the palate too.
All the dishes we ordered were outstanding and we can't wait to come back again. On top of that Coffee was sensational and the service was exceptional - highly recommended place for brunch!
At Axil, I feel like their coffee is one of the best I have ever tasted. The tang from the coffee and the milkiness/creamyness from the milk just makes the latte a great coffee.
Their food, in my case is the Eggs Benedict and the Fritters are both amazing. The hollandaise sauce is creamy and tasty and the eggs are cooked to perfection. Both plating are amazing, shown in the pictures.
Overall, Axil has one of the best Coffees I have tasted and their food is amazing. 100% would reccomend:)
Location, atmosphere, staff, food & prices was absolutely amazing, highly recommend, will definitely revisit
One of the best coffee in Melbourne.
Food is just above the average. Staffs are always nice to us. Love this place
The chili scrambled was very bland.
Baked eggs really good. I tried both and it just exacerbated how wet and tasteless the chilli scrambled was.
I just wanted to express my appreciation and thanks to (Dee I think her name was?) for being super accommodating and hooking me up with a sandwich nearing close. My wife has been ill all week and I was taking our toddler to see Grandma today and the sandwich was much needed during the road trip. Thanks again for the super friendly service and the delicious coffee also!
Overrated, overpriced, mediocre service.
I asked one of the servers to recommend between two dishes as I’ve never been there before, I got no reply but a look that said “I’m too busy for niceties”
I ordered the fritters, which was ok, nothing special.
Coffee was regular Melbourne quality.
Nice to try out, but probably won’t be going back.
What a great Cafe. The coffee was expectedly good, the service was great, and the food was delicious. I would recommend Axil.
Bad service, this early afternoon we went for brunch! After receiving our coffee and OJ order no one came back to take our food order, almost after 15 to 20 minutes we endup paying for drinks and walked out! Very different to Chadstone experience.
Thank you
Regards
Rami
We both ordered the fritters and what a let down they were, lacked any aspect of brunch goodness was more like a omelet then anything. Coffee wasn’t very good, wasn’t strong enough. For a place with a nice looking menu and a good aesthetic we were both pretty disappointed. Won’t be returning
