It’s a wine bar. But you can order everything in the menu to make it like a 9 course fine dining experience. Very creative food.

Nice ambiance, wines are ok although no big reds by the glass. But a nice place and our server on the night knew his wines.

This is a special place,
Took mum for a bite and was not disappointed.
No wine on this occasion (I was hungover and mum doesn't drink) so we came hungry.

The whole menu is super tasty with personal standouts being the blue crab doughnut, kangaroo tartare, eclair and sunday.
That being said everything was delicious and we're talking 10/10 interesting flavour combos and techniques.

Already have booked next Friday as well, will definately be drinking tho. And most likely ordering the whole menu

I’ve been there two times. First time by myself, almost had every single dish on the menu. The most impressive one is kangaroo tartar, not meaty at all, barely tell it was kangaroo. Very friendly stuffs, bartenders gave me really good recommendations based on my requirements and preferences.

Beautiful decor and good location. Would love to grab a drink there during weekends.

My top 3 wine bars in Mel. They have the best finger food and a chill secret garden backyard to let you and your friends enjoy a wonderful night.

Absolutely exceeded expectations! I thought that a wine bar would have OK food, but this was superb.
Thank you Jenna, Steve & all.
My favourites were the crab & prawn doughnut & Comté eclair.
Will be back for sure.

The food, service and wine is of the highest standard
We managed to get through quite a few of the snacks on the menu and thoroughly enjoyed them, presentation top notch and taste to match
Especially enjoyed the Scallops, King Prawn Sandwich and the Shitake Mushroom Sundae
Highly recommend a visit if in the area and especially if you are a fan of Amaru, their sister company

Superb service & food.
The crab doughnuts were so good that we had seconds.
The cured snapper on crunchy crackers were devoured by my wife who normally doesn’t enjoy raw seafood.
All over the food was delicious & worth a visit
Thanks Jenna, Clinton, Steven & team

Top wine bar with amazing snacks! We could have ate everything on the menu and will definitely be visiting again soon to try everything we couldn’t this visit. Scallops we so fresh and donut’s delicious! Ice cream flavour split the group but definitely worth trying.

Had high expectations going to Auterra wine bar having had a wonderful dining experience at their sister restaurant, Amaru, last year.

This is, of course, nothing like Amaru.
It is a snack based menu with a full focus on their wine offering.

We started off with the cured snapper and raw scallop. I’m sad to say that both were underwhelming. The cracker which the snapper was served on was stale and across both dishes there was not enough vibrancy in flavours to lift the dish.

The doughnuts were also a disappointment. Not fried for one and no discernible crab meat or flavour.

I’m pleased to say, however, it was all uphill from there.

Mussels with XO sauce were brilliant.
Smoked kangaroo tartare had great flavours and bread was light as air
Octopus was cooked to perfection, extremely tender and the bush tomato purée - genius
King prawn sandwich and hot dog were both good.
Don’t skip on the eclair - it’s made to perfection.

Excellent wine list. Many fantastic wines on offer by glass thanks to Coravin

Service was equally excellent. Friendly, warm, attentive and personable.

A great neighbourhood wine bar.

Very much looking forward to my next visit soon. What we had from the food menu was exceptional. And the wines by the glass were jus as fantastic. Absolutely work a visit of two.

Cute little wine bar, decked out simply and pink. The snacks were delicious and they had a great wine list. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.

Both the service and food were outstanding. Excellent wine selection. Can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can return to sit in the cute courtyard.

Honored to write the first review and was furthermore honored to be invited to the soft opening. Having declared that possible conflict of interest as well as being a long time Amaru diner (also owned by Clinton McIver, owner of Auterra Wine Bar), I can honestly say that the food tastes as amazing as it looks and is a nice break from the more formal degustation style meals offered at Amaru (which is no criticism in the slightest). The staff are dynamic and keen to show case interesting wines and food is perfect for pre dinner drinks with a glass of champagne, a late night snack, or simply a long awaited catch up with a friend to shoot the breeze while having some matching wines. Stand out dishes are the smoked kangaroo tartare, boudin blanc hot dog and King prawn sandwich. Do not be fooled though by the small size of the food - think canapes size; larger for those on the menu further down the list. The food is innovative, seriously exploding with flavour reflective the determination of the chef to succeed. Five to seven items will probably fill most people.if there was a place where I could eat my favourite morsels of finger food/canapes/amouse bouches - call it what you want, then this is it. I just didn't know that I needed it until now! Bravo Clinton and team.

Even though Auterra was only opened for a few days before lockdown we managed to snap up a booking during this time. The drinks list was extensive and varied but oh my the food was incredible! We made it almost all the way through the menu and loved some of this dishes (prawn sandwich and the comté eclair) so much that we’ve returned during lockdown to get them takeaway!
