Australian Fitness Academy reviews
45Best fitness course! I learned so much thanks to AFA! The team is always available online or on the phone to answer all your questions and very kind and knowledgeable. I did the online course and it is great for people like me who work (or parent) and can't study all day. There is also a great FB private group where students can ask questions, motivate each other and/or study together which builds a great community within the group. I highly recommend this course to anyone who want to start their career in the Fitness industry.
Great courses - easy to learn through and super quick to reply to any questions I had, or if I needed any help at any point. Highly recommend:)
I have completed and, am currently studying my certificate 3 and 4 in Fitness with AFA. I was tossing up between a few institutes but I liked how even though I study online, AFA does have a campus and face-to-face classes. They have a hard working student support team and ALWAYS take on feedback to improve their systems, especially for online students. I appreciate all the regular live mini lectures, so helpful and interactive!
I would definitely recommend AFA! If you're disciplined enough to study online its a great choice.
Did my online Cert 3 and 4 with these guys. Their online learning portal is very easy to use, content and video lectures are great. Ot was easy to get help, and my assessments were marked very quickly with helpful direction. They worked well with a local gym for my experience hours. Have recommended to a number of my friends. Have seen some other friends doing the same course online with another provider and it's been a nightmare for them, afa has been excellent. Thanks guys!
I recommend studying with the Australian Fitness Academy; the on line resources are very good, and the student support team help you meet the high standards required by AFA to get your qualifications. I did my certificates III & IV entirely on line, and this was my first on-line study.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at AFA. The course coordinator (Xavier) was an absolute champion. The facilities are great and the rest of the staff were also very encouraging, professional, and positive.
I would recommend AFA to anyone looking to get into the fitness industry and I will use AFA again for my further education.
I highly recommand these guys. Ihave completed my cirt3 and have learned soo much. I feel like I am fully equipped to take on this industry thanks to the knowledge provided in this course. I went through a rough patch in my life due to a tragic incident and am very happy with the support provided by this company during a very hard time in my life. If you're looking for a company that covers every aspect needed to become a successful trainer these are the guys to turn to.
Thanks again Steve and AFA for your continued help and support
Highly recommended institute. Great atmosphere, highly esucated staff.and if someone thinking to start career or need fitness education then AFA is the right place.
Took a bit longer than what I should have and had to pay for another year at 50% off, apart from having a very busy couple of years, working, studying and par time instructing and falling behind, I still enjoyed the course and am very pleased that I have now done and finished and working in the industry, I would definitely recommend A FA to do their course with.
Currently studying with AFA, and I am thus far impressed with all areas of the academy and course.
I have completed cert III and IV from Australia fitness academy its been a great that Afa team had been very supportive throughout my course but few concepts were not clear or details like older adults or when in comes to childern /adolescent training and few questions were so confusing and wasnt clear what excalty they are asking for through out the course.
After completing my Cert 3 & 4 in Fitness at AFA, I felt fully equipped with the knowledge and experience needed to start my own PT business. The staff and support were amazing and the breadth of knowledge I was able to gain from the lecturers were next to none. A friend recommended them to me and likewise I would highly recommend them to others. Face to Face study is definitely the way to go for this type of course.
The courses are in detail and offer tons of teachings/info on becoming a Confident PT- AFA has an awesome Team of Admin as well as Teachers to deliver the courses smooth and convenient and are always available to help answer any confusion and guidance- AFA is certainly the right place for taking the FITNESS COURSES- Thank you AFA-
I've done several courses through the Australian Fitness Academy over the last few years and have nothing but positive feedback for them. Highly recommend them! (The Administration team is so helpful!)
So I undertook my cert 3 & 4 in fitness from late 2017 up until around 3 months ago.
Where do we start
Firstly, the marking was inconsistent, I was failed on my final work experience manual for cert 3, for doing things in the same manner I had on all other assignments. I resubmitted it, complained and was passed. Assignments were designed for you to fail, or you at least weren't provided enough guidance on what they wanted. I'd submit, and they'd have an issue with a lack of detail in some part (probably to cover a unit of competency) and ask me to resubmit with said detail. That's fine, I don't mind putting in the work, but I need a clear indication on what is expected.
The documents given to fill out for each assignment are a joke. We're advised we have to use these fillable PDF documents, with text boxes that can't fit the entire response that we're required to give. I constantly had a god damn text editor open to copy and paste between that and the documents. 0/10 would not recommend. Cumbersome, frustrating process. Want to read everything in the text box? Better copy and paste that text outside the document.
The course content, well here we go again. References to things in the quizes that aren't in the manual. Very messy, some things in tables, some things in blocks of text. Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors. Just poor content. PDF document looks like it's been run through 45 different systems, impossible to search because there's metadata everywhere that gets picked up.
An overall unwillingness to help find placement after I was unhappy with where I was placed during my cert III. I was advised they'd help, yet they sent me a spreadsheet with a bunch of numbers to call. Not a huge negative here, but still not the experience I was 'sold'.
An attrocious amount of repetitive content to fill out, this is all competency based so I shouldn't have to copy and paste a workout plan (line by line) into 5 different sections in order to show I understand progression of volume / intensity etc. This goes back to those stupid, stupid fillable PDF documents. Microsoft Word exists, as do many other products much more suited to this task.
All in all - Poor experience and I really wouldn't recommend these guys. They're priced similarly to others, so there's no real reason to choose them over a more reputable provider. If I hadn't spent the last 5 years going to the gym 6 days a week, I'd be grossly underqualified coming out of this. Perhaps this is more an industry concern, than an issue with AFA in general.
Now I know they'll come into this and reply and say "Oh hey we don't have anyone by that name in our system", this isn't my real name. I use this account for honest reviews because I can't be bothered with the backlash.
Thank you Australian Fitness Academy for all your great support throughout my wonderful journey completing Certificate III. I am now looking forward to completing Certificate IV with the assistance of student support and your fantastic team.
Poor standards of education, customer service and communication don’t waste your money here like we did
Very helpful to students especially those struggling to get their studies done due to poor health. The content is up to date and EXTREMELY helpful with Video Lectures, Audio Podcasts and Downloadable PDF Lecture Notes. Highly interactive and helpful. Anyone wanting to get their PT Certs done I can't recommend AFA highly enough!
When i first spoke to sales i was advised i would be helped finding a work experience providor, that hours can be completed at reception and made it sound so easy. When I actually got to organising work experience i was advised by student support that this was not true and i quote “our sales team is trained in providing accurate info on sales calls”. As if i was lying? I remember clearly exactly what was said on the phone!
I was refunded which was good however because i was chasing up my refund i was contacted by customer service and the lady was so rude! Telling me not to send anymore emails and that i was harassing her? ! Unbelievable. All i was trying to do was confirm everything is a ok as she seemed like she couldn’t do anything because the director was away.
Manuals were alright.i did find myself looking things up online.could have been more informative/ more pictures/ diagrams also
I've had a great experience here, the teachers and admin team are excellent, definitely recommend
