Australian Catholic University, Melbourne Campus reviews
55If you need a highly valued university that is respected by its students and the community then forget about this one. Bullying and harassment by certain staff against students with complaints mishandled, oversights, passings off to other areas of departments, failures to respond in timely manner, as well as simply rude and indifferent behaviour is what you will get here. Avoid this one.
Having attended Melbourne Uni, Monash uni and ACU as a student, over the period of 11 years, I can say that my experience at ACU in 2018 was the worst year of my tertiary education by a long shot.
I have had issue after issue with ACU. Administration was terrible and I was often stepping in to help sort out issues. The quality of teaching was pretty poor and I was constantly picking up discrepancies and conflicting information in unit outlines, assignments, and rubrics. I don't feel like the marking and feedback was particularly helpful at times either.
And in terms of placements.it seems to be 'normal' for them to be delayed in placing you or struggling to place you at all. My year has been a complete mess as a result of a massive placement debacle which has impacted many students. It has most definitely also had a detrimental effect on marks for other subjects as a flow on effect.
And on a side note, if you are uncomfortable with overt religious expression or symbolism, this is not the place for you. I found it very challenging on many levels.
If you want to go to a University that hires unskilled teachers, gives students placements after exams (when assessments throughout the semester are based on them) and has no social atmosphere then ACU is for you!
I love ACU! The facilities are amazing and the overall architecture and interior design of the place is very inspiring to be apart of. The caferia's are of course a little expensive, however the food is fairly good quality and there is plenty of choice to choose from.
Great facilities for conferences. Went there for the history convention last year and was pleased:) Great cafe, they gave us some free food! Would definitely come back if I had the opportunity!
Pictures from orientation week. Fun-filled activities and freebies. Free breakfast, lunch, and a relaxing massage Friendly atmosphere. View from the top floor is also wonderful one, I think would be more beautiful during rains.
Appalling. Dont even check if the disabled access works. Dismissive staff. Uninformative website. No site directions. Go elsewhere.
Go somewhere better. Incredibly disappointed in the quality of lectures and tutorials. There's no way to refund wasted time and $$$.
I went here, as far as a university goes, I think I'd have enjoyed other ones better. Things to note as a visitor are that the cafes and library are all down stairs. Don't use the lifts, you can crawl faster. The stairs are on the northern side in the middle of the building, they also have toilets on every level here. It's no hassle to pop in, use the toilets, have something to eat, or refill water bottles, relax at the library, but you're going to have a lot of trouble accessing the internet without having correct access.
Best uni for the people who has white skin.i studied there as an international student.terrible experience.torturing teachers and no support from international office.they just wanted money from the international students.purposefully failing international students for the exams.if you complaint the reply was - "you don't have Australian Standard". They refused to review the answer papers.they know there wont be any one to speak for international students.
Great facilities and location. Especially for those who have a social conscience. Could improve on organisation slightly but overall great Uni.
Nice customer service, but very poor in responding and resolving questions. Also Amanda Gutierrez is a lazy and terrible lecturer. Not sure how she still has her position.
