Apollo Café reviews
29I attended here a few days ago and I was not impressed. I ordered the 'toasted' muesli and what I receive was highly disappointing. It took 40 minutes for our food to come out even though the cafe was not very funny and the muesli I received was incredibly tiny and the seasonal fruit consisted of 4 raspberries and some browning apple. On top of that the muesli (what is meant to be a somewhat healthy and light dish) ended up being 20% oats and 80% granulated sugar. The only reason I am not giving 1 star is because the person I was dining with enjoyed their waffles
Great ambiance, amazing long black, and wonderful service. All around happy lady here, perfect place to get some work done.
Have enjoyed a really nice brunch in this great little spot. Good service with friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere.
I enjoyed scrambled eggs with spinach and would recommend this.
In the competitive game of the Melbourne breakfast scene, I have to say my partner and I were extremely disappointed with the sheer lack of imagination and creativity of the menu. The physical space is a positive but they simply are not capatilising on such a great opportunity in the underserviced suburb of West Melbourne.
Popped into the Apollo today, had not eaten all day but, the kitchen was closed. Russ (Owner) welcomed me in and the staff made me 2 BLT's and washed them down with a couple cold ones.
Hit the spot, I recommend, if you have not been here, put it on your list, great little place in North Melbourne.
A hidden gem that, going by the reviews so far, seems to be familiar with locals but not so much with tourists like me. What a pity - this place is great! Friendly and attentive staff, spacious and clean interior, great coffee and food options.
I had the smoked salmon with potato pancakes, with optional poached eggs (extra $4 but it needs it), served with a creme fraiche sauce. Glad I did include the eggs - LOOK AT THE YOLK ACTION ON THOSE EGGS in photos, they were cooked perfectly. It was rich and gooey and wholesome and well balanced. I probably would have pegged for a tiny bit more seasoning, but that is maybe just a personal preference.
Oh, and this place was based in a building that used to be an old school muscle gym. Nice industrial decor which fit in with the building.
Some minor criticisms - toilets have lights operated on a pretty dumb motion sensor, meaning it's a race against the clock if you don't want to fumble in the dark for the door handle. Also, music a little intrusive, but I don't really like piped cafe music as a route, so again, maybe that's just me.
Been here for brunch a couple of times. Friendly service, spacious enough for the pram, and they have baby high chairs too. Coffee was good, and the food was decent on both occasions. Milkshakes and smoothies were good too - props for using bamboo straws.
Everything was served with a smile.
I have been coming in everyday for 3 months, coffee is brilliant, food is delicious and the staff are super friendly! I bring in groups and we''re well looked after. Apollo have tasty vegan and vegetarian options, one of the best cafe/bars in West Melbourne! We've been sneaking in on Friday's for Gin/wine and Nibbles > Thank you for giving us locals something to enjoy:)
