The hostel and the rooms very super clean, very helpful and kind staff + a great location and nice facilities. We really liked the interior of the hostel as well!

Great hostel overall. Fabulous kitchen facilities and a fun games room. Really nice location, a quick walk from the coast and all the pubs and eateries. The room was overall fine, had nice big storage lockers but there were some issues.
1. Virtually no power outlets available in the room
2. The bunk beds beds were really creaky
3. The padlock hole in the locker was too big and anyone could pull my lock straight through to gain access.

I recently stayed at YHA Apollo Bay Eco as part of a tourism course excursion trip. I was pleasantly surprised by the nice and neat condition. It completely took away my typical perception of hostels being dirty, smelly and not safe. Although it was just a one-night stay, we had a comfortable stay. The property also has great amenities such as charging stations, communal kitchen and games room. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Apollo Bay.

Extremely basic bedroom but lovely shared areas including cosy Netflix room, games room and 2 really nice kitchens. The only negative for me was the extremely limited reception hours and check in window

Hands down the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Nice, clean, has everything you could need and is eco friendly. There was a koala on the back garden?

Stayed here for 2 nights for GOGG, which is up in Forrest.
Beds and facilities are really nice.

As I was arriving late on Saturday, I was told that the door code would be emailed to me, but nothing came, so upon arriving at the hotel, I couldn't enter until another guest came home.

Despite 10pm being quiet time in the dorms, there was a group of Uni students in the room above who continued to make noise until 1am. Needing to be up at 5 am for my event, this was not congusive to a good night's sleep. As there was no intervention, I needed to upstairs myself and ask them to keep it down. Very dissapointing.
In summary, the sound insulation from above is not as good as from your neighbours room.

Showers on the upper level have lower water pressure than the ground floor, so the difference between hot and cold is more distinct.

With an impromptu phone call, the male host was happy to open the kitchen early, so I could eat at 5.30 am. And he said he would speak to the group of students. Checking back later, he said they were young uni students and had checked out, so it shouldn't be a problem for Sunday night

Sunday night, I was glad to have a warm shower and comfortable bed to sleep in.

Upon checking out on Sunday, I was surprised that the lady on reception had a non plussed attitude to my comment about the door code. Without checking the facts, she stated, "we have records, and it would have been sent" and "you enjoyed your stay" without asking me about it or any concerns. Then, as I was leaving, she sought gratification of a goodbye, repeating it several times as if to elicit a response that she was right, rather than identifying that I may like to convey concerns from my stay. Weird.

What has come before shapes our feelings towards this moment, be considerate, and ask, "How was your stay? ", "thank you for letting us know, we take a look at that"

And sure, in the travel industry, customers come and go, but taking on board feedback assists in making the experience better for the next, is a resource to be coveted.

If you are doing GOGG, I would recommend staying closer to Forrest, as the road in between in quite windy and requires significant concentration.

Comfortable place to stay with great kitchen facilities. Some members of management need to work on their customer service skills.

After 2 months in Australia this was the nicest hostel we’ve stayed in!

Clean bathrooms and a super clean kitchen with every utensil you could ever want (even had wine glasses, egg cups, chopsticks, etc). Nice lounge area, Fantastic location and decent wifi!

Typical Youth Hostel experience. But first of all it was very clean, also in the shared bathrooms. My private room was fine. Stayed here for one night.

Walls are a little thin, so you hear other doors slam (and people can't do anything against it, since that's how the lock works while pulling it to close.).

I didn't cook there, so can't say anything about the kitchens.
Wifi was working well and reception was kind. Parking is directly at the backyard.

Walking distance to all shops, restaurants and the beach.

Becca and Dylan were fantastic hosts. Great location, really clean facilities and lots of space to cook. Will be coming back! Highly recommend!

Very friendly staff, neat rooms and renovated bathrooms and social areas. It was a very pleasant and relaxing stay for us. You just have to keep on mind that there's no private bathroom in case you are looking for more privacy as this is still hostel

The hostel itself was one of the cleanest I’ve stayed in, very comfortable communal areas, beds were comfortable and rooms spacious enough, it felt like a home away from home. The staff were also super friendly upon check in. Have recommended this hostel to many people since my stay.

Would definitely recommend for anyone on a budget. Great facilities, newly renovated toilets and very clean rooms. We were here in winter and the staff were great with making sure everything was warm and toasty for us. Very convenient location too, walking distance to the main stretch of stores. Only thing is the hot water takes awhile as the place uses solar panels for heating, but there were signs in the bathroom to let us know so we weren’t completely taken by surprise.

The owner of this motel is very nice and the rooms are quite good in fact but some things could be improved. One major red flag for me was the fact that the tv room is a very far way away from the wifi router meaning that Netflix, Stan ect would not work.also the taps are a bit scuffed, other that that it was a nice place to stay. 7/10

One of the best hotels I've stayed in. Two social rooms, one standard with couches/tv, the other a living room with couches/coffee tables/fireplace/view and access to the large kitchen/dining area and outdoor dining area. Rooms are cosy but clean and comfortable with access to garden. Laundry service and toilets are a bit limited in number, but I had no problems during my stay.
For Great Ocean Road drivers, a fantastic location, with bars/supermarkets/petrol station, and a beach not 10mins walk away.

It's been 20 years since I last slept in a dorm and this was a wonderful experience. The rooms are clean, the hostel is superbly located and the facilities are excellent. Lovely welcoming staff too

Clean, basic accommodation. Conveniently located behind the main street. Great facilities; 2 kitchens and multiple sitting areas. The beds were hard the the frames were very noisy, which wasn't ideal for good sleep.

The toilets were under renovation, and there was only one toilet booth for anyone staying at the hostel. It's just impossible to stay there like that. In addition, at 8: 45 am, we received a wake-up call from the unbearable drilling and renovation work they had done on the toilet. Why do we have to wake up so early when check out time at 10am? When we went to the reception manager to complain about the noise he laughed at us and said that at this time we should be awake already. Just disrespect and poor customer attitude. We would not recommend getting to a place where the team treats customers in such a way.
