The gym staffs and owner has no communication at all despite several attempts of sending emails about memebrehsip freeze due to lockdown. Only when I went to post social media comment on anytime fitness fb account, someone from head office referred my comment to AF Collingwood club. Not sure how a business operates when they don't care about their customers.

Also, personal trainer/staffs from the club was quite rude. I don't usually write reviews like this but after I have experienced how they treat the customers, I thought I nedd to give heads up to people who acollingwore going to join this particular AF Collingwood.

Emails are passive aggressive and I am just shocked ghay a business operates like this.

All the best AF Collingwood.

Been going here for years. AF gyms can be hit or miss, this is a good one. It’s well equipped, with everything in good condition.
Staff and fellow punters are pretty friendly and the place stays pretty clean and tidy.

200 cancellation fee? What? ! Nobody is going to transfer the account from Gumtree as they suggest.

Update: No refund in my account as suggested below. Won't respond to my emails. Awaiting the rebill on April 1.
Review: Cancelled my membership January 2. Last payment due to come out February 1 due to the 30 day notice period. What do you know, I get rebilled March 1, even after I was assured this wouldn't happen.

After offering to support ATF Collingwood from closing during the COVID, by paying half of the membership as requested. The communication from them was terrible and showed that there was no concern about me or my welfare and their greed really came to light. Money taken out of my account in reopening against an agreement made by them due to my support, was poorly handled. When they felt the agreement was complete, no more comms turned into aggressive emails sent telling me I owed money, which turned into passive aggressive behaviour from the owner when I was able to show his calculations were incorrect. To then still have no apology offered. I had been with several ATF locations over the years and sang their praises. I no longer will be and if anyone who reads this was part of the group who paid half price fees to keep them afloat, I suggest checking what was agreed against what they offered!

I was sold a 6month “international” membership which in total after start up fees, fob costs etc was $750. One of the main selling features was that I could use this membership when I got home to Canada (seamlessly) by just simply using my fob for 2months at the new location. This WAS NOT the case. I went into an anytime close to my home in Canada and was not able to use my fob. After days of emails to the collingwood location and speaking w management at the vancouver, Canada location I kept getting told I would be contacted same day w answers. Days would go by and I would come back to speak to management to find out why I’m not able to use my fob/key and just work out. In the end their solution was to refund me $270 and I could sign up as a new client in Canada all over again. I was able to use the facility in Australia for a total of 5 weeks before it shut due to Covid. So I feel like they basically lied about an international membership and stole my money. If you do the math I cost me about $100/week to work out while I was in Australia. I will DEFINITELY not be signing back up w this gym in Canada. I know some ppl that are quite happy w AF in Melbourne but I had a very terrible experience and would highly recommend going elsewhere. There were many other things that left a bad taste in my mouth dealing w this gym but this was the worst of it. Feeling very taken advantage of

Charges a $25 bring-a-friend/guest fee when other Anytimes charge $15. Explained that it's more expensive because it's near the city - Richmond Anytime 2km away is $15.

Stopped going due to hernia sustained whilst training with a PT. Was told I had no option but to have someone take over my membership or pay up the cancellation fee.

Clean, fairly well laid out. The staff seem great. It does get pretty busy so planning when to go is important. My only real issue is there are no low to the ground rowing machines they're all on these stands which suck.

Great use of space, plenty of equipment, stays fairly clean.however downstairs is like a sauna! Extremely hot no matter what time of day you go? I’m sure it’s great working there staying warm but it makes you feel uncomfortable. They need to cool it down and have staff wear a jumper!

They hurt me, but i like it. Just kidding - but seriously, they have increased the changing room capacity and you can almost always, anytime get on a cardio machine.

This Gym ticks all the boxes
Not stiff and Corporate like most gyms these days this place has a sense of belonging. Friendly and helpful Staff that you immediately feel comfortable with. Members who say hello and offer to share equipment. Has a large weights area upstairs with decent sized cardio area downstairs. 23 group classes a week and private change rooms 9 in total Anytime Fitness Collingwood your the best!

Good club. Great equipment. Staff very friendly and went out of their way to help and assist. Really good and friendly gym. Highly recommend - good service is hard to find these days. Equipment is up to date and well

Been to this gym today and the front staff was very friendly. Very welcoming vibe generally. Equipment works well (dumbbells go up to 50kg which is great) and the gym is very clean. Would definitely come back here.

- The inside is much smaller than it seems from the outside.

- There is only one of most of the machines.

- This location (more than any other Anytime I've been to) has a plethora of people who take up several machines at once at peak hour. They try to rotate by leaving towels and other items so others cannot use them. This is especially frustrating when there is only one of each machine. Like most people, I dont enjoy having to ask to work in with people unless absolutely necessary, which leads me to my next point.

- I've been asked almost daily by trainers and other members if they can work in with me. Just to clarify, I'm not someone who sits on their phone whilst on a machine or takes a while; I typically take no longer than 2-3 minutes max at each machine. I find it a bit abrupt and rude to regularly ask other members to interrupt their workout and wait for someone to come in and change weights, adjust levels, etc. I myself avoid doing that at all costs, but it seems to be the norm here. I have noticed it seems to only be women that they will ask, as I suspect they would feel uncomfortable disrupting a dude trying to work out.

Overall, you get what you pay for here. Not the worst place, but if you plan to work out in the morning before work, be prepared to deal with people who lack a bit of common decency.

Very money hungry club, I've been a member of anytime fitness for over 6 years, came to this gym and had my fees increased by almost double.

Edit: Thank you for the reply Donald, and for promptly telling me about my own history with Anytime Fitness. Since you have looked into my account, you will recall that I was also a member of anytime fitness Greensborough (which I believe is one of the largest in Australia?) and anytime fitness Doreen before coming to Collingwood, neither of which increased my rate, as they had seen I'm a long time member, and respected that relationship with their customer, clearly this has changed moving to this gym.
And comparing my usage to a coffee. Really? If I went to gym 3 times per day on this current fee, that would equate to less than a dollar per visit (less than a quarter of a cup of coffee), you can that this is very subjective and not an accurate comparison.
Regardless, I stand by my review. And the attitude I have received upon questioning the clubs decision to almost double my payments shortly after arriving has not been friendly or understanding.
Cheers,
Jayden.

Fairly clean. Classes are pretty good if you're into those. The equipment is pretty good, too.

The front-office vibe here is unsettling. I've been a member of a gym for the last 15 years and this is the most corporate, predatory, seemingly money-driven gym I've encountered. Signing up reminded me of walking into a stereotypical used car salesman's office. I found some of the staff to be, generally, not forthcoming with answers to my questions, particularly regarding how membership transfer, cancellation and surprise fees worked. I would not rely on them to, for example, eagerly follow up on questions you have about any charges you find odd on your credit card statements. They would rather be unhelpful until you decide it's not worth your time to pursue. I found them to be purposely vague, shifty and willing to say whatever it takes to get more money out of me. Profits seem to take priority over member satisfaction. I hesitate even posting this for the potential nasty backlash I could receive.

Great as all anytime fitness but bit over priced to join. Go to snap fitness much better in Fitzroy

I find most anytimes to be pretty cramped and lacking equipment but Collingwoods facilities are great, I never have to wait for equipment and I feel like I have space

My son and I joined Anytime gym as a guest while visiting a relative. Donald was so welcoming and set us up with a temporary pass for 2 weeks. During my visits I had several PT sessions with Gurts. A great personal trainer. I found his holistic approach and knowledge of the body very beneficial - I made good progress in a short time. I can highly recommend this gym and Gurts.
