Everything was absolutely outstanding, a perfect celebration for my partner’s birthday. She couldn’t think of a better way to spend her special night.

Creative dishes, careful drink pairings, attentive staff, and a pleasant atmosphere. The non alcoholic pairings were much more interesting than the wine pairings (there's also a lot of wine to go though, which will inevitably dull your palate). Very happy with the whole experience.

We had a fantastic dining experience for our anniversary. The food and service were impeccable. The presentation of all dishes was eye-catching and had a complex array of flavors. The entire menu was designed from light to hearty, allowing the palate to savor a variety of flavors. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish on the menu. This restaurant comes highly recommended; we'll certainly be paying another visit.

From the music, to the decor, service and food was impeccable. The non alcoholic beverage pairing was a wonderful surprise - inventive and superbly done.

Visited Amaru on our wedding anniversary. A good place to pick for a special occasion. Great ambiance and good food. You get to eat a tasting menu that has been carefully designed. Food was creative yet enjoyable to eat.

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

Had the chef's counter sensory menu paired with non alcoholic drinks. Lisa was tentative, warm, and acknowledged.

Each dish was tasty with layers of flavours. The home made drinks went so well with each dish.

Thank you Amaru! Will see you again when I'm in Melbourne.

My partner and I LOVED our dining experience at Amaru! Loved the laidback sophisticated feel. The food was incredible and the wine pairing was amazing. So glad was opted for that! We're not sure what our hosts name was (sorry about that we should have asked!) but she was incredible. Full of knowledge and was really friendly, she really topped off our experience!

Came across Amaru by chance and booked because it looked interesting. Was one of the best dining experiences we have had; the creativity and passion that has gone in to every dish and detail was exceptional. We had the Sensory degustation menu. The food was delicious and innovative without the pointlessness that sometimes goes with that, it was very beautifully presented and the service was outstanding. Thanks very much for a great night.

Creative and excellent dishes but the introduction of every plate didn't sound any special or exciting

Truly excellent meal. Service staff were also friendly and genuinely looked like they enjoyed their job and each other’s company, which was lovely to see

Everything was great. Food started strong amazing but the mains werent the high we were looking for. Wished main portions were larger. But they create great flavors much better than similar restaurants in melbourne.

Went here for the sensory menu, and it was delightful! The service was very attentive, and they do explain the menu to you on the table during service. Highly recommend it if you are looking for a place for a celebration or just to treat yourself to the experience.

Had very high expectations after a well respected recommendation. We’ve dined at many high end degustation restaurants returning regularly including the Vue De monde, Jacques Reymond, Attica, O. My, Grossi Florentino to name a few and wanted somewhere amazing to dine for an intimate party of four celebrating our sons 21st.
The service here at Amaru was impeccable and we enjoyed the matched wines and the Somalian was knowledgeable and presented some delicious wines including an incredible earthy sake. Perhaps it was just this particular menu, however when you’re paying close to $500 per person you will no doubt have high expectations as we certainly did. So much emphasis placed on an elaborate feast for the eyes …immaculate presentation and an impressive list of Ingredients and descriptions provided at the table but sadly and incredibly disappointingly was the fact that flavour was severely lacking in a number of the dishes to the point of being rather bland and the experience was overall…well…remarkably underwhelming. There was not one ‘spectacular’ dish in this menu… the closest was a dish we added white truffle at $80 per person. It elevated this particular course but the rest, perhaps bar one desert failed to deliver any wow factor. Such a shame. A lot of work in the kitchen but on this occasion it just didn’t reach any highs. Based on this experience I doubt we will return.

Rarely does a restaurant get it so right, food, service without attitude, wine and ambience. Highly recommended for a special occasion

I was surprised at my experience here, the food was very average and almost tasteless, the restaurant smelt pungent of fish

Talk about outstanding and amazing. Fine, high end dining. The chefs made me a keto compliant degustation. It was absolutely amazing. And I can’t thank them enough. The food was so tasty and each course flowed from the previous to the next. The wine was also delicious. The service from all staff - impeccable, friendly and genuinely interested. Thank you. We will be back.

"Third time we've eaten at Amaru. Always a complete experience. Wonderful to be able to savour wonderful food, great wine and enjoy it with friends in a truly relaxed manner - no two hour limit here. Service is professional without being stuffy. Good humoured team that seems truly connected to what they do so well. "

Everything is great but there’s a fruit fly influences the mood, but it’s still a good place to celebrate.

For value - it's not there if you have a seafood allergy. The substitute dishes were different concoctions of mushroom and turnip (literally 3 or 4 plates of this). Given the price point, i cant justify giving anymore than 3 stars. For regular diners, perhaps the $250 pp is appropriate but I can't honestly say the same when there's a lack of protein replacement.
I did like the vibe of the place and the interactions with the chefs which added to the experience.
Regarding service - personally, i wasn't too thrilled with the continual interruptions due to a new bite being introduced however I do understand that this is how they do things and is supposed to be part of the experience however if youre trying to have a conversation with others its hard to concentrate if youre interrupted every 5 to 10 mins.
Finally, my partner and I ended up with mild discomfort throughout the night that we believe might have been attributed to one of their in house non-alcoholic drinks (the white chocolate one) - might be best to avoid this one.

Would I return, probably not.
