Alter It reviews
24Very friendly service and high customer service standards. Will highly recommend as I have been using them for about 15 years.
Sandy is some of the best tailors I've ever seen in Melbourne. Great job on my Tom Ford tuxedo,
I approached the staff member & asked her if it is possible that she can repair my denim jacket she took one look at it & said to me & i should go to "Spot Light" to get a new zip for my jacket so i went there, & get a new zip for my jacket & she did a really fantastic job & i truly recommend her to anyone for a variety of work for me 10 outta 10 thankyou, to jane.
Had my black leather 3/4 lenth coat repaired here. First, the Ladies are very friendly, unlike like other retailers in this mall.
Secondly they did an absolutely outstanding job repairing my favorite coat I've had for years. Fixed better than originally made. Needless to say I am very happy with tha quality of work. It was a very complicated repair but great job. I definitely will use their service again.
Big thank you

Paid for some minor pants repairs, when picking up, drama starts •••
First, this lady today could not find my pants, later found out it’s because she recorded the wrong phone number at the beginning, no biggie.
Second, when checking the repaired spot, I just commented the stitches is a bit obvious. She went into super defensive mode and said it’s the best we can do. Ok move on •••
Third, I asked her where is the third repair spot as I could not remember the location. “Find it yourself” she said. Then she just walked away and started chit chatting with her co-worked like I’m invisible.
The tailor work is bad but the attitude is just shocking. If they cannot patch small holes properly, can they be trusted with more important tasks?
I have used the services at Alter It, in Box Hill a few times now and I am always very pleased with their work. Most recently, I have had two designer blazers altered for a more tailored fit and the ladies have done a superb job. The staff are really friendly and so helpful. I will continue to recommend and use their services in the future.
I wish to close a button, they rudely tell me it need to cost 6.5dollar.i said only a botton ? they dont answer me.all right when i gonna pay it,they throw my coat and say find another way.this is a terrible experience
They do fantastic work. I will keep going back again & again. And they are all delightful people.
Good service. Had given a couple of pants for altering the length and one for tapering. And all three came out well. Standard prices for altering the length. Although would have liked the taper to be a bit less expensive (no complaints).
Good customer service as well.
Good quality service and friendly to talk to. They helped me to alter my wedding dress that suit my body shape better. I m very pleased with the quality of service and had a good experience. Recommend to everyone who need alternation done.
Quick friendly and well priced.
I asked for 1.5" from my pants, and the seamstress nicely double checked ended up with 3" off the pants. Glad she checked.
Had a skirt taken in here. Was relying on the staff to take the correct measurements when I dropped it off. Even though I told them I felt it was too big the lady said it would be right. When I picked it up it was still too big even when I tuck in my thick jumpers. The lady then became impatient and rude and said I was happy with it when I dropped it off. Will take the same skirt to another place to get it re-done. Would not recommend unless you know exactly what measurements you want altered.
I've been here many times and they have always been reliable and do a great job. The price is fantastic and they are always very quick. Would definitely recommend!
I was really happy!
went to have some jeans taken up and done within 20 minutes?
100% will be back!
My mother and I have been here many times to get a wide range of items altered, and every time we have been met with professionalism. The alterations have been exactly what we have asked for (no matter how difficult), and done in a timely manner. Staff are amazing, courteous, and technically talented. Recommend for sure!
Sandy is super! She is so fast, professional and friendly! Highly recommend her for any alterations or dressmaking she can make pretty much anything at very reasonable prices Very talented tailor!
Had a massive job with my jacket lining and had a chat with Queenie, sorted it out and looks perfect, definitely recommend the team there and recommend them for any work:)
As always, thank you Sandy, Queenie and Joey for your fabulous service and expertise over the years. I have found that whatever tailoring, mending or alterations are required, I can leave them in your capable hands - I picked up my dress after work today, and noticed that in addition to the alteration requested, a small fray on one of the front layers had also been expertly mended by Joey. Such an eye for attention to detail - thank you ladies!
I cannot thank the staff at Box Hill enough for "saving the day".
My youngest daughter purchased a dress on line for her formal. It arrived four days beforehand and it needed alterations. I went to a local alterations shop and was told it would take 4 days to do the alterations at a cost of $90.
They measured my daughter on the spot, pinned the dress to her liking and arranged a time for her to pick it up.
I was at work when my daughter picked up her dress. The zip would not even go up and the shop owner told her to get someone at home to help her.
When she got home she was devastated. The dress looked shocking on her and she only had a few hours until her formal.
My eldest daughter drove her straight to Alter It in Box Hill. She told me she was greeted cheerfully, they looked at the problem, said it had been taken in incorrectly and the zip was not working because it was not sewn in correctly. Within 40 minutes they had undone all the work of the last seamstress, taken it in and fixed the zip for only $50.00!
My daughter went off to her Formal with a smile on her face. Thank you soooooo much Alter It, I dont want to think of how things might have panned out if it had not been for your great work ethics and skills.

After seeing the reviews I was hesitant to go with this place. I only needed an edge sewn on some curtains though, so how badly could it have gone wrong? Turns out, pretty badly. It also turns out that, at the cost I paid to get them sewn up, I could have gotten a ready-to-go set from Ikea.
