Alexander Theatre reviews
24 There should be dedicated car parking spaces for the visitors but there isn't.
So hard to find a parking place even near the hall in the streets.
Extra phenomenal performance from Hootan, Kathy and Misagh last night!
Life women and fredom
Great show on at the moment, "My Fair Lady". Cast excellent, production good, everything about the G and S society was very well done. The sets using Cecil Beaton's costumes replicated, were brilliant in the Ascot Race scene. Jay Lerner and Richard Loewe's words and music still delights. The dialogue is very witty a la G. B. Shaw's original play, "Pygmalion". What more can one ask for in a live performance!
Just one problem was NOT ENOUGH TIME for a toilet break. With only 2 loos immediately available, only 1 lift as well, and just 1 central aisle to get to your seats, it's very tricky with an older demographic like me. Also the show goes for 3 1/2 hours with interval, so be prepared! At least, you certainly get your money's worth @ $60 a ticket. A great evening. Merrowyn Deacon.
Very difficult access for those with compromised mobility. We had to join a queue for the lift then stand in the crowded passage for 8 minutes.
The auditorium has good visibility but is raked and as there are no handrails it can be difficult for some.
Incredible theatre with a lot of memories for me. I came here decades ago as a kid.
But the seats are now very uncomfortable, they are all one behind each other, so you have a head right in front of you. There is very little leg room too.
I'm happy to go back but making sure the performance is no longer than 2 hours.
Perfect location for the piano recital:)
Lots of space.
Great control of interior light, which means it's very easy to take great pictures here.
Even more important the the location: The performances, which were all wonderful, and everyone there had a very nice time. I was very impressed, and so was everyone else.
Perfect location for the piano recital:)
Lots of space.
Great control of interior light.
After having extensive surgery I didn't want to miss granddaughters ballet concert, so armed with a walker I attempted the crowd but before I could blink, I was directed to an elevator showed my ticket, oh this seat isn't suitable for you so our group of 4, including myself we got new seats better than originally booked. Amazingly helpful staff, was treated with respect, Thankyou for your help had an amazing night
Went for a standup comedy show!
Facilities are great, theatre itself is good and well maintained.
Parking is free on the weekend just watch out for signs and permit signs.
Great theatre for kids. Just saw the Bluey show and the venue was the perfect size for kids.
Only downside is the bathrooms being a flight of stairs away. Not normally a big deal but with toilet training kids it’s meant a little more running!
Don’t rely on Apple Maps to get you there though, no idea where it was trying to take me but it wasn’t here!
Brilliant new performance theatre! The seats were good, well lit, the sound system was fantastic and the pristine location. Overall makes it a memorable experience
Nice theatre for medium sized concerts and events. Close to long time parking and uni cafe. Big disappointment is with the seats in the theatre. I’m 5.2 still felt uncomfortable sitting for couple of hours.
Great venue.
Good seating and facilities.
Wish they had a drop off area for disabled.
Horrible location for someone with mobility issues. $35 for a primary school kids production is ridiculous.
Great theatre. Easy for disabled people, however, it's quite a walk for a disabled person in bad weather as there is no cover. Comfortable seats for long performances. Nice Cafe with lovely staff.
No signage. Terrible parking. No access to theatre. There’s no point to having a nice new venue if people can’t get in or find it. Had to ask 4 students before anyone could tell me where it was. Finally found it and managed to park illegally (which turned out to be okay because it was after 5pm and now free parking everywhere). Then went to 4 different doors, all locked before I found the front entrance. I nearly went home but was meeting friends who had paid for my ticket. They had also had horrible experiences finding it. Please put signs up and give lots of directions. Don’t get me started on the restrooms which are all on one side of the large building! How are they allowed to get away with this? Specially with disabilities access laws?
Performance was fantastic, but the space between seats was so narrow & couldn't extend my legs at all. And I'm not very tall - I pity anyone with long legs. My wife also sat in discomfort.
Excellent facility. No phone reception inside the theatre - not sure that it is intentional or not, but I think a good thing.
Lovely new theatre. A bit difficult to get to via public transport. Lots of food tp choose from at the Uni campus
Reasonable sized theatre with good views of the stage. New seats makes it more comfortable for sitting, though late comers require a standing ovation to reach their seat and seats are tightly packed with no spare space between.
