Al Dente reviews
45 We ate at Al Dente for my birthday, and it did not disappoint. I had the 5-course vegetarian degustation. Every course was delicious and beautifully presented.
We were looked after by Michelle and several other wonderful wait staff. They were all friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable.
Great experience, would definitely eat here again.
Natasha was such an attentive, down to earth team member that we had the privilege of meeting the night of our 5 course dinner. The food and ambiance were amazing - highly recommended. Hearty, creative and refined food. One of Melbourne’s best!
Excellent service.beautiful wines (they had my fav chardonnay: Project49). And delicious pasta.what more could you ask for? !
A workout for your tastebuds! Be sure to wear loose fitting clothing as you’ll want to try everything on the menu. We enjoyed a elegant 7+ course degustation over fine wine and amazing company with a group of friends. The waitress was brilliant, articulating what the restaurant has to offer perfectly. The vibe of the venue itself is Italian style with a creative elegance.
Grazie mille Michelle, Andrea & Davide
Last night was truly spectacular.
You are a very gifted and talented team. I have never enjoyed an evening more than I did last night. The food, the wine, the service was on point.
Food is tasty, but small portions and service was unfortunately slow.
Update/edit: the chef personally called and apologized for the service, inviting us back to try more. Check them out.
I came here for the great story of how they came to have a restaurant, and a promise of great pasta. It mostly delivered. The menu is strong, the food is quality, the service pretty good. Really loved the scallops and gravy too. Let downs - flavours need to punch a bit more (bisque not that interesting, salads too pedestrian, bread needs work) and the price point needs a bit of refining. It’s right at the top end at $300 for 2 people for meals with a bottle of non-alco wine. Takeaway at dine-in prices too. Keen to return down the track and see how things evolve.
Best Italian restaurant in the area. Food and service are over the top! Highly recommended even for take away.
On Sunday we had a fabulous late lunch dining experience. Thank you Michelle, Andrea, Davide and the broader team. Can’t wait to come back and try more.
The meal was very good. Would rate 4.5 stars of I could. Had the scallops and raw fish as starters, and the ravioli and steak as the main. The desserts were a standout here
Delightful energetic vibe, passionate obliging staff presenting another worthy Melbourne Italian restaurant and handy well-stocked provedore in one outlet. The menu and refreshments also included delightful presentations and flavours. We enjoyed the antipasti including breseola, mortadella, local scallops. Our main courses consisting of a small serve of beef cheek, duck tortellini and spanner crab ravioli (4 of, would have been more satisfying if 5 of or 6 of were presented) considering $30 approx per main were despite this totally enjoyable. Also the chocolate pudding was a tasty adequate serve. Grazie
One of the best Italian enoteche in Melbourne. Excellent quality food and service. Highly recommend.
Ordered online during lockdown to cook at home on a friend’s recommendation, and I’m very glad I did. The veal bonbon pasta with the burnt butter and sage sauce was delicious!
Where it says 1-2 serves, I found it quite generous for 2 people. The cooking instructions are printed on each package as well, cooking straight from frozen so it’s really simple and quick.
I’m looking forward to trying all the other other goodies that are still in my freezer…
Service was amazing and genuine, all the food was delicious and the chef offered to make something that catered to me. Couldn’t recommend more highly!
Amazing. Simply amazing. Came in for lunch and wish I took photos. The staff are very welcoming upon arrival. We had a selection across the menu from exquisite Scallops with pancetta in this beautiful sauce. The ever popular spanner crab tortolini, with divine freshly made pasta. We also selected the mushroom tagliatelle which was beautiful with in season mushroom and this delicious sauce. But the best - THE BEST - has to be the pasta del giono which was confit duck with Jerusalem artichoke. And oh my gosh! The artichoke is cooked in duck fat and the sauce is reduced jus from duck bone with a touch of vinegar. This dish alone is worth the five stars! Cannot speak highly enough. Will be popping past their shop for home takeaway For Sure. A must visit
Absolutely amazing food and the service team were all excellent - top way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Exceeded all of our expectations - thanks so much guys!
Seriously AMAZING food. We absolutely loved the king fish, scallops, all the pastas (AMAZING!). And the service and atmosphere were second to none. Do yourself a favour and go.
The guys from 'Al dente' are professional and their passion for food immediately shines through. Alas I was unable to dine with them but I tried some of their take away products (ravioli with lobster, tortelli with Cacio and black pepper) and they were excellent. I particularly liked the texture of the egg pasta. I'll be back to dine more comfortably! Bravi ragazzi, yellow is bello!
Ate here last night for the first time, the food is diverse, fresh and delicious.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance and good lighting, its situated in an unassuming location which sets it apart from the usual main strips, but still close and convenient.
The staff are spot on, they know their stuff, are both professional, friendly and welcoming.
Chefs sometimes serve you directly and are happy to chat. Good stuff
Amazing Italian food, great service, lovely ambience. The lamb was melt in your mouth. A wonderful addition to the neighbourhood.
