My (Accru Melb) experience commenced back in 1990 and came about with the need to find the necessary support that allowed me to ‘go-out-on-my-own’. At the time, my young family lived in East Hawthorn and I believed local expertise on compliance, taxation and financial matters was essential. I find Jessica very efficient & getting my tax return done is always a stress free, prompt, no fuss annual process. She's always happy to answer any questions or concerns, & offers simple explanations for anything I don't understand.

My wife and I recently engaged Accru to provide annual accounting and Tax return services for our SMSF which we have managed for over 20 years. These services had previously been supplied by a large specialist group, with an accountant there who had been responsible for our accounts and with whom we could discuss issues needing clarification. That firm then changed their service model and we were allocated an account liaison person who knew less about accounting or tax that either of us. Because of that, and our expressed but unanswered concerns regarding the security of data sent off-shore, we cancelled that arrangement and approached Accru for a proposal. Family members had recommended them.

We have found Accru to be excellent communicators and we have been able to discuss the details of the accounts and tax issues as they arose, facilitating rapid completion of the final accounts and tax return. Accru were able to provide the data security we desired without compromising time and quality. We are pleased that they are local and that we can meet in person (subject to Covid restrictions) and develop a relationship with skilled people who now know us and our SMSF in detail.

I joined the ACCRU organisation prior to it becoming ACCRU and quickly established a good working relationship with its members. I felt it was important to me that should something unfortunate happen to me, my wife would have people that she could rely on to help with any rising financial queries. I am still here, and as time has elapsed I firmly believe my comments are even more correct. The staff are reliable and readily meet all of my needs. Probably many more comments could be made, and I can assure you that they would be all positive.

When my former accountant retired he recommended the partnership that later evolved to become Accru Melbourne and I appreciated their personal attention and sound management of both my personal and superannuation fund administration for many years. After I moved away from Melbourne I tried to find a local company that would provide the same level of service but couldn't. However, technology developed to a state where information could easily be shared on-line, and if I had any questions or needed any advice I could always go 'old school' and pick up the phone. My call/emails are always answered promptly and professionally.

My daughters told me to use ACCRU, for my safety, as they know the firm is wonderful, and to provide a peaceful transition to their supervision of my affairs as a widower to their care in the event of my disablement or death. ACCRU is much better than my previous accounting firm. ACCRU staff members have been especially kind and helpful to me during my covid lockdown alone for much of 2020 as males over 70 were advised to isolate; and so I tackled JobKeeper as an employer not alone.

In my previous employment John Danby was our auditor. It just seemed logical that when I set up my own business in 1994 with help from Ian Farr that I should retain the connection. I have never had cause to regret this. I would be surprised if anyone else can claim a longer association.
