Absolute Beginners Sewing Classes

Laura takes a total beginner by the hand and teaches one on one. Each lesson you take home a completed article, which for me was thrilling and unexpected. The classes are small so you are always guaranteed attention from the teacher. Cups of tea, laughter and a shared camaraderie in her sewing room makes it a very pleasant class. Not like school at all!

Laura is a fantastic teacher. The Tea is always poring in her practical classes, she makes sewing fun and rewarding for all. If you have a sewing machine but don’t know where to start these are these are the classes for you!

On behalf of my friend Rachel. I decided to start classes with a little trepidation about 5 months ago - I’d tried a different class many years ago and it just didn’t click for me. I honestly thought I’d never learn to sew and certainly never thought I’d actually enjoy it! Laura’s “absolute beginners” classes have been such a breath of fresh air – she makes them fun, the class sizes are small so you get the 1: 1 help you need and you always walk away with a completed project and sense of accomplishment. I have just loved learning to sew as a result and now I have my very own fabric stash, can tackle projects on my own and am SO enjoying it! This is all thanks to Laura – she’s a wonderful teacher!

I would highly recommend Laura's classes. If you feel like learning to sew is a bit daunting like I did, Laura will introduce you to it with all the short cuts and handy tips you would want to know! I love her pragmatic style of teaching and encouragement as well as the bottomless cups of tea and laughs along the way. The classes are small and friendly so just perfect for both beginners and those wanting to expand their sewing skills. As a mum of two small children, my fortnightly class is something I really look forward to and Laura is ever so patient with my baby brain! I have been going on and off for almost 4 years now whilst having my babies and love learning at my own pace. Very glad I've found Absolute Beginners and my sewing machine is not collecting dust somewhere!

I visited for a casual lesson today and I was so impressed with every aspect, from the simple printed material, the structured course program, the venue, the peppermint tea, and most of all, Laura's patient attitude. Her clear love of sewing was inspirational. I learned so much for one lesson and I like the bag I made. I was so surprised. These lessons are so affordable, Laura is way undercharging. Strongly recommend taking lessons with absolute beginner sewing lessons.
