38 South Bar Cafe reviews
51First time here today after being recommended and coffee is just beautiful, will be back from a Patterson lakes resident.
They are very busy - too busy to provide a good customer experience.
There is no table, I was told all booked out - that could be true or they think for one person, there shouldn’t be a table as it won’t enough spending for a table.
The avocado smash + a normal size coffee cost $30, and there is no table available.
The package box is very nice, the food is just normal.
Very bad experience.
Not Recommended.
I was very excited to venture out with my daughters and mother for a very special birthday breakfast. I booked late but they were very accommodating. When we arrived we were seated and given menus. I wasn’t sure if I needed to approach the counter or if it was table service. I eventually worked out it was table service. On ordering I made it very clear to the server that we required our drinks first as due to a medical issue I cannot eat and drink at the same time. I asked that the food not be prepared until after our drinks arrived. I was assured this was no issue, “the drinks will come first”. We didn’t wait long and the meals arrived. I was immediately disappointed and tearfully told the server we needed our drinks first. She did apologize, stated she didn’t know and asked who our server was. I pointed out the person who took our order. Not wanting to make a fuss or be labeled a “Karen” I accepted the meals of the rest of the group. The excuse was made that it was busy. I explained I didn’t mind waiting, that wasn’t the issue. I just wanted to enjoy breakfast out with my family after a very long 12 months. Not long after our drinks and my coffee arrived. I enjoyed my coffee. My children enjoyed their meals. When it came time to pay I found i again had to wait in a queue of people ordering which took some time, maybe 10 minutes. They did take off the price of two coffees however this did not make up for the experience. It was a completely disappointing experience. I’ve waited a week to make this review so that my emotions didn’t cloud the review. I think it was handled poorly.
Was expecting something great from the reviews and the place being extremely busy. Coffee and food was not great fresh OJ was the only good item we got wouldn't go back not very impressed.
Had a lovely meal and drinks with friends, great food and environment
Was a little loud inside but overall was a great experience
As a local I can not fault the service here. The coffee and even the decaf we have on occasion are very good. The food is always tasty, well presented and fun. I would say it’s the staff that make it. Breakfast menu is interesting and varied. The evening food has some great burgers, personally love the chicken. Had the sides and share plates before all were very good.
Staff not wearing masks, staff chatting too long with another customer on buying a coffee machine. Went next door and the service was exceptional.prices too high as well. Would not recommend
Coffee is quite good. Food on the other hand.average.very poor presentation. And no staff wearing masks. They all can't have exemptions?
Consistently great food and coffee, top service and friendly staff and an all round great vibe. Fantastic local cafe that is well worth the travel if you're heading to and from the peninsula!
Had a delicious take away Iced Coffee that was worth the wait on New Years Day.
Unfortunately the salmon bagel was more than disappointing and looked like the dish boy out the back slapped it together with more cream cheese than bagel and no capers or even dill to give it a bit more flavour.
We won’t be eating here again with much better on offer close by
There for lunch recently
Great service and awesome atmosphere, place is always buzzing, sending out a great vibe unlike neighbouring Guildfords.
Delicious & reasonably priced food, from sliders to smashed avocado with salmon to salt n pepper calamari.
Will be back, great spit opposite the beach
