1895 The Royal reviews
49Service was great, food was fantastic. Had to wait 45 mins, which seemed like forever, but will worth the wait.
Attended for dinner on Australia Day. A horrible experience. Kids running out of control in the dining area, throwing balls and toys about the seating areas with zero intervention from management. Just a horrible place. Food was very ordinary.
You guys have nailed it
Food was fresh and delicious
Portion spot on not too much
Chips fresh and crunchy
Beer cold plenty of choice
Service is more like a restaurant rather than a pub
Thanks perfect when travelling for work
Passing through town dropped in for dinner. Had wedges, oven baked barramundi and vegetables and risotto. Staff was good. However everything was very bland and average. Salt and pepper on the table did not help. With the three soft drinks total bill was $80 which I think is pricier than most other hotels and we certainly did not get value for our money. Disappointed, left the hotel unsatisfied.
Really awesome lunch deals downstairs.
The Thai beef salad was very good, great flavour. Burger was tasty, pretty standard burger. The drinks were a let down. The coke tasted like watery syrup and the lemon lime bitters was inedible.
Service was friendly and good.

One of my favourite places to eat in Echuca! Family friendly, pleasant atmosphere, competent staff and the food is great!
The lunch menu offers you an array of substantial, but affordable meals. All served in a comfortable, clean environment.
The regular weekly specials represent great value!
I have been visiting "1895 The Royal" with my family and friends for several years.
I highly recommended it! Check it out online!
Review Update: 21/01/2023
We still continue to visit, but the last couple of visits have definitely seen a decline in service.especially staff.
Whilst the venue is clean, meal quality good and toilets remain excellent, the service has diminished due to a lack of table service and an ability to exercise common sense.
There was no follow up before, during and after our dining experience. Listed below are the issues:
Upon arrival, placed under an air-conditioner at table 1, that was blowing a gust across the table. Half an hour to have this rectified. Just needed to be turned off or redirected.with the remote.
Complications to our ordering and payment. We had reserved for our group that morning. We were happy to order and pay up front at the bar and be seated wherever there was room. Paying up front seems to work when ordering drinks? No.can't do. Need to order, eat and pay as one after we eat.even though we were ordering and paying independently. Makes it hard in a cashless society to split at the table.
We ordered the same as we have many times before, but this visit was met with a non willingness to provide us with the same service/requests and food, even though the menu was unchanged.
The parmas for our children were ordered with a slice of pineapple.as we have always in the past. It usually costs an extra $1.50-$2.00. Which is perfectly fine.
We were told that if we wanted this, the $15 lunch Parma will now be $27 because it's become a dinner parma? Dinner parma"a are a larger serve when compared to the trimmed down lunch serve. (according to table staff).
Our reply. "we don't want the lunch parma made into larger serve. Just a slice of pineapple for the kids.this has never been a problem? " "Can't do" We never got the pineapple.not for $12 a slice.
Waiting staff were aware we were frustrated and disappointed. No offer to resolve or call over the manager for assistance.
Before, during and after the meal.
No follow up on "how is the meal, how was the meal, can we get you anything.etc. " Not even a goodbye or thank you for dining, or how was your experience with us today? " (Wasn't always like this).
One final issue. We requested table service prior to leaving. 20 minutes later, it was still not done. Turns out the staff member left and went home, leaving our request unresolved.
Very difficult to continue to recommend 1895 The Royal after this experience.
Echuca and much of Central Victoria have been devastated by floods. Visiting Moama beach has lost its appeal due to the post flood damage. So have other areas. All the more reason to lift your game and encourage visitors to the region. Support your business and it's patrons.in turn, you support the region.
Great lunch deal. Food, service and beer was on point. Will happily drop in again next time I'm up that way.
Thankyou for a lovely meal.
Staff are awesome and the venue is in a handy location.
Definitely returning.
All average TBH. Chips undercooked, Mexican burger very salty. No vibe on the Thursday 6: 30pm.
We ordered Parma, steak n risotto. Food and drinks are good here. Pricing is acceptable. Not really like the margarita. In general, I’ll recommend it.
Prime spot for a few cheeky beverages or to sit down for a meal. Very nice staff. Chef cooks an amazing eye fillet. Definitely worth a look.
Was charged $25 for a lunch time parma then as well the wife was charged $3 for the smallest amount of mushroom grave and then on top of that $3 for vegetables in Lou of salad all up $45 for to $15 dollar meals
Tried to book for dinner through their website (they use a 3rd party booking system). Did not even receive a reply.
Dined here in late June 22. Good food well prepared. My partner had the oven baked barra which was beautifully cooked and I had a 300gm rib steak. Came out perfectly cooked on the rare side of medium rare as ordered. The deserts were unremarkable and, as it turns out, totally forgettable!
Food is very basic pub quality. Staff are terrific but what can they do to counteract the drop in quality.
Good value pub food
Service ok, food came out quick.
Parmi was decent, the chicken club however is an open sandwich only one bun which was odd. Chicken wasn't too dry either.
Would go back
Dined here a bit over a month ago, staff were great, had a scotch fillet steak that was top notch. If you paid $80 for it at Rockpool you would have said it was great value.
Thank you so much for such a fantastic experience.
Great value, great cuts of meat. Fantastic taste.
Sorry you only had 1 staff instead of 3, but the meal redeemed it all.
Highly recommend
My 300gm Eye Fillet was cooked to perfection (medium). Everyone who had a Beer or cold drink found that they were ice cold. All of the orders (13 of them) were spot on. Very pleasant customer service and a nice clean, comfortable bar.
Although slightly on the pricey side, the steak was well worth the money! Ordered as a take-away, that didn't detract from the quality and taste of the meal, would happily return again in the future. Wonderful staff (thanks Abbey) help to round out the experience.
