Visited this place few days ago,
Had great fun and music was amazing and so as people.
One should visit if they out in the city for fun and groovy moves.

My experience was INCREDIBLE. I went to see Meduza's show and I was surprised by the quality of the place especially the quality of the sound. The acoustics were without a doubt one of the best experiences. The show with all the lights, the acoustics, and one of my favorite DJs closed my year with a flourish. If there is another show in the future, I'll be there.

Been here countless times. The venue is great, the staff are great. Seen a lot of my favourite bands performing here. Can't complain.

Good enough venue. Guy in front of me stank, perhaps the bouncers could have got him, but hey

One of the best Melbourne venues to go see your favourite artist/band. Get there early to find a good spot!

Saw Rina Sawayama here and thought it was a fantastic venue, with great views of the stage basically from anywhere. Great show.

Today for the first time I experienced racism, the guard literally denied the entry by giving an excuse that you have to be on the guest list in order to get entry and denied entry to all the colored people in the queue that too as soon as we joined the queue he signalled the other guard to deny the entry. This is so unfair and did not expect to happen in this time.

Nice intimate venue. Decent sound but quite a loud show so bring earplugs. Brilliant lighting, seemed well organized overall.

Great venue. Feels intimate enough without being too small. Upon messaging beforehand, they reserved a chair which helped due to a medical issue I had.

Great venue. But in my opinion oversold tickets by 25-30%. Packed in far too tightly - especially during Covid.

I was attending the Tierra Whack concert on Wednesday the 27th of July.

I was extremely horrified by the events that unfolded. I was standing up the back and I could see 4-5 huge security guards brutally dragging out a patron.

I have been down the front of the stage before and I had interacted with this young trans woman, I know how physically small she is and the amount of unreasonable force the security guards displayed was absolutely terrifying.

I could see other patrons were extremely distressed by this incident attempting to intervene and I truly felt the need to intervene because I could see the security guards did not have the ability to deescalate the situation.

At this point this woman's slight body was being dragged up the stairs by numerous security guards, they were consistently misgendering her and I genuinely felt like myself and some other patrons were trying to break up a fight.

I am not privy to the situation which led her to be evicted from the premises but I could clearly see the way it was handled was absolutely unacceptable. This would have been an incredibly traumatic incident for this young woman to be brutalized by numerous security guards, she had scratches all over her body and her heels had been broken off her shoes.

I don't doubt being a security guard is a tough job. When attempting to intervene the security guards were defending their actions by saying something to the effect of “the hit us, we are defending ourselves”. Which I thought was extremely inappropriate. I could see there was some “us vs them” mentality coming through. This person left the venue because some bystanders assisted her off the stairs and led her outside.

One of your security guards then told me I was not able to return into the venue because I had thrown a glass at him - this is completely untrue. This further demonstrated to me how completely out of control the situation was.

You need to review your training protocols - reconsider your occupation as a security guard if you are unable to de-escalate situations, regulate your emotions and are unable to eject someone from the venue without causing them bodily harm. I do not feel safe returning to this venue.

Looking at your reviews I can see other patrons have complained about the aggression displayed by your security staff.

You must address this.

Amazing venue - the sound is awesome and it's a more intimate space which makes you feel really close to the artists and only enhances the experience

I saw The HU here and it was incredible, not just because the music was awesome but the venue was perfect.

Worst NYE party I have ever been to. Event was poorly organised. 8 of my other friends and I paid $60 each for the tickets and we only got to enjoy 2 hours. We entered the club @ 11: 40pm and was kicked out of the club @ 02: 15am for no reason. I was walking up the stairs to get some fresh air and a bouncer pulled my beer I paid for at the venue out of my hands, emptied it on the front entrance and pushed me out. The bouncers were very aggressive and will not answer any questions for why we were kicked out.

If any of you are planning to go to any events from Billboard @ 170 Russell street. Please think twice about it and go to another event organiser. At least the rest of you would be able to enjoy the night without any aggressive bouncers and feel safe.

I WILL NEVER STEP IN THIS CLUB AGAIN!

Great venue for gigs, awesome sound, and not just a flat floor, lots of small levels so everyone can see. Love 170 Russell. Similar set up to Max Watts.

First gig back after lock down. Front security were lovely and no complaints with any other aspect of the venue. Front of stage security being absolutely unnecessarily aggresive with crowd surfers coming over the barrier. Hands Like Houses acoustic set nothing too crazy. Front of stage security shoving almost pushing people over for no reason including young girls. What for? They were following your instructions to exit the front area and re-enter the crowd area. Disgusting behaviour
