View 42º Restaurant & Bar

This restaurant was recommended but they decided to close for December because of low numbers. I had booked over the phone and they had not recorded my phone number correctly so we didn’t find out until we turned up for dinner. When booking make sure they repeat phone number to you and maybe have a back up option. This is not a reliable venue.

This buffet restaurant serves decent bistro-like food with seafood (salmon and prawns) with a spectacular view. We came on Sunday evening and it was almost full.

The service was seamless, used plates were always removed quickly and efficiently and I noticed the chef's come out to check the did bar regularly.

If the buffet wasn't satisfying for you then you can't beat the view with a glass of wine, and after the meal, you and your friends, or date, can relax in the outdoor area or in the lounge area with the picturesque backdrop.

Only been re opened for a week. Well worth the money. Beautiful fresh seafood and salads. Well done to the staff, awesome service. Would highly recommend. One of the best smorgasbords I have had

My wife and I enjoyed 2 evening meals at View 42, first night we chose the $75 option which was discounted as we were hotel guests. The second night we were offered the $40 option which was a 1 soup, 1 large plate of “mains” and dessert for each of us. The food was excellent and plentiful, I enjoyed the brisket and the belly pork on both nights, my wife enjoyed the amazing seafood (not all local). For both of us was the amazing service provided by the beautiful Nadia and the rest of the staff. The view from table 5 was amazing, beautiful sunset and then the harbour lights as the sun set. While the decor is a little dated, but you don’t eat the decor. The little lounge with a view of the harbour and bar was a great spot for a pre dinner drink and a relax. Definitely want to go back.

$75 per person, vegies rock hard, un seasoned food, glugy paella definitely not worth the money at all

Staff friendly and buffet for dinner was delicious. I would go again. Also recommend afternoon drinks on the deck looking over the harbour.

We went here for the buffet dinner for our wedding anniversary, and I don't think I've ever been so disappointed and unimpressed with a buffet.

We had a booking for 7: 30 and weren't seated until 15 minutes after we were supposed to be seated. The options were pretty limited, made worse by the fact that a lot of the empty dishes weren't getting refilled, even though the place didn't close until 9.

The food that was out was dry and wasn't hot, despite being under heat lamps and in bain-maries. The vegetables sounded nicely prepared on the menu when in reality the broccoli and cauliflower was just steamed and sitting in a cream sauce. Nothing at all special which you would expect for the price point. The desserts were limited in range. Once again, the waffles and donuts were cold and dry.

The service was also lackluster, making it difficult to order drinks, and near impossible to get refills.

Excellent customer service, yummy seafood and desserts. The view over Strahan is stunning.

We booked a big group for 6pm so we could maximise our time here. We also arrived early so we could enjoy the view.

The food quality & selection was amazing and there was always more food being put out (we stayed for almost the whole time that the buffet was open). Menaka, who looked after our table, was excellent too and should be commended by management for her service & friendliness.

However, the experience did lose a star for the end of the time. The website does not list a price for children which meant we were originally reluctant to go. However, prior to booking, I was told twice that my kids would not be charged. At billing, not only were there issues trying to get the bill correct and process payment, there was an attempt to then to charge for my kids (50% of the adult price for kids between 5-16, no charge for 4 & under - not unreasonable but certainly felt like "bait & switch" after what I had been told at the beginning & clearly not marked anywhere). After a short discussion, this charge was dropped but it didn't end things as well as it could have.

I would probably come back again if I'm in Strahan as the food was excellent & the view was superb.

Beautiful restaurant on a hill overlooking the town of Strahan. We went for Christmas Day lunch, which was amazing. There was so much food, of all varieties. And it was very well priced. The Christmas lunch at cradle mountain was over twice the price. Would highly recommend!

The buffet was on offer with fresh seafood, meats, salads and dessert bar. Like most buffets it’s always a trick to compete with the crowd to get to taste everything on offer. For the most part the staff and chefs were able to keep everything stocked up. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly suggest you book ahead of time and was easy todo over the phone.

Slightly misleading, as this wasn’t a full seafood buffet and certainly was missing local produce. Then to add to it the desert selection was just Sarah Lee cakes. Don’t feel this was worth $75 per person

Great food including many GF options! Excellent service and the view is amazing. Came back a 2nd time in 3 days!

Friendly staff and guests. Very clean. As soon as you finished one plate and went to get more food you place was cleared. The food, THE FOOD! Delicious doesn't even cover it. I read other reviews before attending, but they didn't do it justice. A MUST visit for anyone in the area!

Unbelievable value for fresh seafood, oysters were so fresh and delicious, prawns were fresh and yummy, plentiful of salads and dessert choices

Really good banquet and the customer service, especially Kirby, the sweet smile and lovely voice for detail caring. Highly recommend for party gathering and birthday events, big surprise place!

Fantastic seafood buffet. So fresh and plentiful. Staff were unbelievably good and the drink prices are excellent.
