Very impressed with the transformation that has been performed on this property. The rooms are incredibly well done. The service is friendly. The local food and drinks made for an even more special experience. And sitting in the living room felt totally at home. (It would be even better in winter near a roaring fire)

After a day exploring the lovely heritage town of Oatlands and its surrounds, we decided to carry on to continue our appreciation at The Barracks in Triabunna.

Second time around and we are still in awe of this amazing restoration. Previously we stayed in the Loft. This time we were the Quarters and loved it too! Can't go past the gorgeous deep bath.it sure is a perfect way to relax.

If you appreciate sandstone houses, exposed ceiling beams, beautiful wood finishes and the charm of a bygone era respectfully re-imagined, then The Barracks is a must visit.

It is the ultimate showcase of a seamless blend of modern and heritage styling. The attention to detail - from the decor, right down to the nuts and bolts -  is a testament to John and Kim's commitment to this stunning project. We also loved that Indigenous Australian heritage is acknowledged and incorporated in this masterful creation.

There are still so many little details to take in that we missed in our first visit and John and Kim were gracious enough to share their time and stories about the construction journey. Be sure to peruse through the Triabunna Barracks storybook as you relax in the cosy nook.

This is our go to for a little luxury, and we intend to keep coming back. Thanks for hosting us again, and for the delicious breakfast. See you next time!

My partner and I stayed here after a day out at Maria Island. If you want genuine sustainable tourism then this is where it's at. John and Kim have restored the old stables (mostly by hand) leaving you with beautiful, historical buildings crossed with seamless modern technology. The attention to detail is unmatched. Kim and John make the food and condiments themselves and the pub is just next door. We loved it here and would stay again! The hospitality is unmatched!

Lucky enough to have a guided tour through this place this morning. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to stay but it’s definitely on our to do list. This is a masterful renovation. The rooms are superbly appointed. Be one of the first to experience this new accommodation offering. You won’t be disappointed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the barracks. John & Kim have done an amazing job with the renovation. We love that everything in the building has been locally and sustainably sourced.

Our room was really well sized with a super comfy bed and a big free standing bath!

We were greeted with a platter and drinks on arrival. In the morning, they cooked up a feast of a breakfast for us. They were more than happy to cater for my partners gluten intolerance too!

Safe to say we will be back very soon.

Fantastic top class accommodation to access the East Coast from. The venue, the private room w kitchenette & large bathroom, with awesome deep bath tub, are all extremely well designed & laid out, great aesthetics, with top end appliances & fittings and sturdy recycled materials taken from the historic site as it was renovated. The history of the place shows through even with the high-end development. Attention to detail is strong, as is their commitment to making the accommdation wheekchair accessible so anyone with mobiliy or accessibility issues such as myself, has a comfortable stay in a beautifully crafted location. The toilet & shower have hand rails, shower has a folding seat too, & are easily accessible for anyone, but retain the great look of the venue without looking out of place, bulky or awkward. The ground floor room, & the full kitchen & lounge area have wide access for wheelchairs and all important facilities are in easy reach, at least they were for me. The honesty bar is well stocked with some fantastic products too. It was a delight to stay there, thanks very much to the owners for putting such effort into making high-end accommodation fo everyone, regardless of mobility.

Having followed this project via social media, etc and joined along the journey via the various photos and short clips, I was very keen to experience the final product.

To say that I was blown away is an understatement. A truly magnificent restoration indeed! I've stayed in some lovely properties in my time and this one is up there with the very best. So much attention to detail in every little respect from the human luxuries to the engineering specs - simply incredible. A thoughtful touch was the deep bath which plunged me into a delightful snooze and was so welcomed after a long drive and very hectic day.

John and Kim are salt-of-the-earth, generous and warm and were more than happy to chat and share their knowledge of the area including good pitstops. I'll certainly be back; might even get the chance to kick back on the comfy Chesterfields and have the sound-sytem play some favourite tunes listed in that fat volume songs on the antique sideboard.

Cheers and thanks for a wonderful time!
