Food was amazing for the price. The barmaids were super friendly and very patient. They even allow you to bring your dog and eat in the garden outside. Beer and good is cheap for the quality.

We had a really pleasant evening there, again. Mellow, elderly interior, comfortable, and just a nice place to be. High-end tavern food with mid-tavern prices. Service is excellent and well-timed. Staff well presented and courteous. Highly recommend. Oh, the lamb shoulder just fell apart. Delicious.

Lamb shoulder was good, we ordered an extra side of veg as it only came with root veg and we wanted some fresh veg. Filling meal and well priced. Upstairs was nice and quiet.

Always great food, worth the slight wait time, very reasonably priced and great old English pub ambience, warm log fire, fantastic seafood chowder and very friendly obliging staff, nice gem for Launceston, complements to the chef!

Worst food and experience i have ever had when dining out, my dish (the salmon) i had ordered to be dairy free, when it arrived after 45 minuets it had dairy on it and when questioning staff the lady said the chef was not doing any dietary requirements that night and that it was bad luck even though the other waitress had said it was not a problem, when offered a replacement of chips i said yes but they never came.the steak was tough and not cooked to liking, the risotto was bland, the parmigiana was also distasteful.would not bring my worst enemy back to this restaurant with its disappointing food and rude staff.

Have been waiting for at least 45 minutes for our food. Asked the waitress why the orders took so long. She said there were other orders before ours and walked away. What a service! I ordered curry scallop with coconut rice. Taste awful and presentation is fair from appealing. Should have ordered standard pub food like chicken parmigiana.

Excellent experience in this restaurant. The old red phone was interesting there. Good food services. Atmosphere was nice and warm, thanks to the fire chimney there. The top floor of restaurant was nice and warm. The restaurant provides complimentary port, which was a lovely touch. Must try it

Where to start.loved the history on the walls about the building and people, the historical feel of the venue was fantastic The staff were awesome from the get go. Seated us at a bar table as the restaurant was full. Didn’t stop us from enjoying our amazing meals. Steak was cooked as requested (which it’s hard to get a medium these days) soft and melt in your mouth. My meal was just what I needed and how I like it. Potatoes were crunchy on the bottom and soft tops, carrots fresh and just a light crunch. The hotpot was just right. The balance of the rich red wine gravy and venison was spot on which made the venison soft and tender, the pastry was just enough to mop up the left over gravy.

Take your chances and just rock up (early) otherwise I suggest booking! The place is set on three levels - great decor old world, good selection of beverages and tasty food menu!

Terrific food, impeccable service and beautiful ambience. We enjoyed the entre, the main course and the desert and spoke about the experience all the way home. Highly recommended for a relaxing dinner.

Great staff. The food is just 3 star the cost, the meals very expensive. A pub meal venue trying to be more and not doing it very well.

Delicious heart warming food with friendly service. Cozy rustic interior with a relaxed vibe. Also do your self a favour if it's still on the menu GET THE VENISON PIE it's absolutely delicious.

This restaurant is inside the Quality Hotel Colonials. Foods are good especially the pizza, highly recommended. The steak also good with the yummy mushroom sauce. Heritage buildings. Oysters are only average.

The plate size lives up to its price. The lamb shoulder was absolutely amazing, there is a reason why it is not served on a plate but a bowel. Staff are mostly helpful except for not telling me water is self served until I asked for the third time. Generally a pleasant visit.

Food is amazing, bar staff don't miss a beat, dining atmosphere is nice and easy going and the old style building is lovely.
5 stars and would reccomend to everybody.

Be carful. My partner almost died from eating here. There menu has dairy free options stated on the menu but in fact these items are not dairy free at all. When we asked the waitress about it she wasn't even aware that they all had dairy in them and asked the kitchen and after a lot of back and forth confusion she ended up telling us that infact none of there dairy free meals were dairy free and they would get the menu changed so that it didn't say it as I explained to her how dangerous this is. One of the dairy free meals even has fetta in the ingredient list. Sadly we have been back there since and the menu still hasn't changed and the waitress still didn't even no what was dairy free. There staff don't even no the menu. This is so dangerous. Lucky my boy friend had his eppi pen in the car

Did my 1st dinner in Launceston in this place. Was so memorable! Great food & awesome hospitality.

The atmosphere, beautiful good (we had Lamb shoulder, which was so delicious), great wine choices,

One meal - fish not cooked and had to wait another half hour for it to appear - many apologies but we had finished our meal and a small token discount for the inconvenience! NOT HAPPY wontt be back
