The Exchange Hotel reviews
22We absolutely loved our stay at The Exchange. Our suite had been restored so tastefully with everything thought of - lovely decor. The bathroom had sumptuous towels and lots of little extras which we appreciated. Breakfast was delicious and situated in a wonderful sun-soaked room. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the surrounding area. We would recommend The Exchange Hotel to anyone and hope to return one day.
Beautifully restored old pub. Our hosts were very helpful, felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Breakfast was served in the dining room, with proper coffee. Would certainly come here again.
Very Rustic Hotel with modern conveniences.
Hosts are a very hospitable.
Has a Friday night event which is a lot of fun
Looking for something to eat for dinner, a great Indian Restaurant just across the road
Exceptional in every way! The room had the most comfortable bed with superb linen and was very tastefully decorated. The towels are heaven, thick and wonderful to dry upon. The Hosts fabulous, welcoming, warm & set the atmosphere for a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The location laidback, friendly and a quaint little town, but close to so many things to do and see & taste & experience. Five stars all the way.
You would be mad to stay anywhere else in the district. Beautiful boutique hotel lovingly restored. Private bar for guests with curated wine list from the area and the hosts guided us to find the best food in town on a rainy Monday night in off peak season. Sensational coffee too. No really, stay here.
Beautiful boutique accommodation, modern comforts combined with art deco charm. Sumptuous linens, state of the art heating with a stylish bathroom. The hosts Gavin and Tom were amazing, from discussing the curated wine list, to serving undoubtedly the best coffee we have had in Tasmania, we cannot imagine why you would want to stay anywhere else.
Our experience at The Exchange was flawless. The service was exceptional, friendly, fun and nothing was too much trouble. The building is being lovingly restored and learning about the history was fascinating. The bar was brilliant.fantastic array of local wines. Lovely, high quality linens and thoughtful decoration.
It really is the perfect stop if visiting the area or on your way through. Go visit and hear some incredible stories of local history!
We had the most amazing time staying here over the weekend. Beautiful old hotel. So much work has been done to restore it to its former glory. Clean rooms and private bathroom. The hosts Gavin and Tom really went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. Highly recommend this place. 5 Connie, Nicola, Ryan and Hannah.
We enjoyed a beautiful night at the Exchange hotel recently. The hotel has been tastefully restored by the owners and it was very warm and cosy. Just an amazing experience!
We have an enjoyable stay with this hotel. The owner Gavin is warm and made us feel at home. We ask for a cooked breakfast and this was happily provided. Our whole stay was enjoyable.
I stayed one night in Beaconsfield at the Exchange Hotel. Gavin and Tom's hospitality was so welcoming and authentic! The hotel has been lovingly restored, maintaining all of it's charm and history, yet with modern comforts. I feel like I've stepped back in time, in a very comfortable way. The bed is so luxurious! The bar is so cosy with fire burning and Beaconsfield history on the walls. Highly recommend! I will definitely be back! Thank you!
More a destination than accomodation. From the moment we arrived, we were swept away with our room and the ambience within the hotel. Gavin was the perfect host and assisted us with suggestions for daily activities and dining options, we would recommend The Exchange Hotel to all who seek a relaxed and engaging vacation.
Cheers, Gavin, for our great stay.
A warm and very welcoming place to stay, and an ideal base to explore this lovely part of Tasmania. Gavin and his nephew Tom are wonderful hosts.
A lot of hard work has clearly gone into renovating this heritage hotel. It is a wonderful combination of authenticity with everything you would expect of modern day accommodation - super comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, top notch linen and towels, free wifi - and everything spotlessly clean.
In addition, there is a guest lounge bar available - ideal for relaxing at the end of the day, and enjoying some of the best the local vineyards and distilleries have to offer.
I stayed at the Exchange Hotel for 1 night and loved it. The accommodation is comfortable, clean and something you rarely get - interesting. The whole building is fascinating particularly the guest areas. The owners live on site and went out of their way to ensure our stay was special. I couldn't believe how cheap the rooms were for all that we got - and breakfast included! Thank you to Gavin and Tom.
The Exchange Hotel ticks a lot of boxes. If you want 5* grey and glass, this won't be for you. But if you want to experience a heritage building, rich in history and charm this is perfect. Location is brilliant, West Tamar has much to offer. As the outside temperature dropped, to arrive back at the hotel loaded with the best Indian takeaway from the 'Tasty Bite' restaurant across the road and then sit back with a glass of wine was perfect after a day of sightseeing. Room was spotlessly clean, hotel warm and host Gavin, delightful.
Great value for money and ideal for small groups traveling together.
What an amazing place! Not only does it have ultra-soft comfortable beds with fantastic service from Gordan and Tom but the whole hotel has a story to tell. Look at the walls, the pictures and follow this heritage building back in time.
Highly recommended whether on your own, with the family or just for a wedding aniversay!
The Exchange Hotel - Perfect in every way. We spent a fabulous girl's weekend at The Exchange Hotel to celebrate a milestone birthday, and we could not have been made any more welcome. Our hosts, Gavin and his nephew Tom, went out of their way to ensure we had everything we could want. We booked all available rooms, and having the whole hotel to ourselves seemed very indulgent. The rooms included beautiful luxury linens, comfy beds, and locally-made toiletries. Our evenings were spent relaxing in the private bar after touring the Tamar Valley during the day. The rear deck was lovely in the sun, and we could return to the centrally heated hotel when it got cool. Gavin and Tom organised a surprise private dinner party that could not have been bettered in any fancy Sydney or Melbourne location. We also dined locally at the most impressive Indian restaurant, "Tasty Bite", a short walk across the road. Wow, on so many levels. The hotel is beautifully restored and is in a fantastic central location to take in all of the sights of the Tamar. We can't wait to return.
Well what can I say, this was the most enjoyable work trip I have ever had! Gavin and Tom you both excel at hospitality and are an asset to the town of Beaconsfield. Your beautiful hotel has perfectly comfortable amenities and old world charm being tirelessly and tastefully preserved for all to enjoy. If I could give 10 stars I would! Oh and the Miners Gold you had on offer was top shelf!
Gavin and Tom made us very welcome when we stayed recently for 2 nights. It was like being at home. Very well appointed rooms, cosy towels and our hosts have excellent knowledge of the area. Beaconsfield is so handy to Launceston, wineries, Tamar River and close by is the innovative micro brewery Miner's Gold. We will be recommending The Exchange Hotel to all our friends and family. We wish you well Gavin. Sue and Robert.
The Exchange has a wonderful ambience of yesteryear. Owner Gavin and Manager Tom make one feel immediately at home. Will definitely return to this hidden gem. Well situated for touring the Tamar and Launceston.
