Tasmanian Food and Wine Conservatory reviews
45Such an unusual gem - quality food worth every penny. Consider it an oasis on your journey and a chance to revel in Tasmanian cuisine and lovely wines. The staff were a bit cold and distracted but the ambiance and quality of the dishes were outstanding.
Tasmanian food & Wine conservatory
A truly hidden gem! Right beside the fast moving highway is this beautiful old conservatory building that’s now used as a lush green cafe/ restaurant space. They proudly serve 100% Tasmanian produce - food and wine. They also have a selection of non-alcoholic drinks.
Make sure you stop for a lunch charcuterie board, or cheese board, or even just for a cup of tea and slice of cake. Wonderful and friendly service too. Coffee is excellent!
Highly recommended!
What a great spot! Especially as a tourist (or a local!) the chance to eat fresh locally made produce in a beautiful setting was amazing. Helpful friendly staff, and plenty of nice craft drinks (non alcoholic too!) and options. Recommend getting a 2 person platter and sharing, you won’t be hungry afterwards! You can also buy a lot of the produce used in the shop as well and good ideas for gifts
Ahh is not the big deal. I was expecting much more. Just an other place cooking with local products. The menu lack of variety. A plater ordered came different as showed in the menu. My first bad experience in Tasi.
I was very disappointed in this place after finding out about it on a TV holiday show. I expected it to be more about Tassie produce for sale but it was really just a restaurant cooking with local produce. Mind you the food was delicious with some very exquisite flavours. I loved the pear and rose cake. Menu is only small but definitely worth a look. The building is very art deco and a lovely ambience for dining with friends. Loved the outdoor area as well.
Best tasting platters ever. This is the 4th time I have travelled all the way for Kingston just for lunch. Each time my travelling companions were equally impressed.
We booked the whole place out for a wedding and it was fantastic. The food and service was excellent the the decor is lovely and in a very unique and pretty building and setting. The owners and staff were lovely to deal with. Would definitely recommend this venue for a group event or just to pop in.
Such a beautiful place to have lunch at.
The lunch menu changes daily but the plates and platters remain the same (I think).
Had a lunch here. Atmosphere is wonderful.
Order a burger, which is just a very ordinary burger and the meat is a little under. A bit pricey with its quality and quantity.
Pasta was good thou.
Been there twice and it seems usually full.
This place is amazing! We went with a group of friends and ordered two platters! The food was totally amazing. All Tasmanian sourced products, just delicious. Beautifully presented. Most foods are available for purchase on site. Would highly recommend the Observatory to anyone.
My hosts @ Old Wesleydale Heritage Cottage suggested I come here for the best coffee, but it is not well signposted from Launceston so it took a couple of runs up the highway until I had to ask someone where it was.
Pretty impressive once inside, really attentive staff, I did get an impressive coffee in fact I had two along with a wonderful lunch, but I also bought presents for friends as this was my last day in Tasmania, after a wonderful 3 weeks
Forget about everything else Tasmania has to offer! If there's any excuse to fly down to Tassie for a weekend its to have lunch at the conservatorium! Thank you to Mitch and Hamish for your hospitality and extensive knowledge base on Tasmanian wines and whiskey.
A jewel in Tasmania, can easily drive by on the highway but you would be doing yourself a great disservice if you didn't visit here. Wonderful service, beautiful scenery and the food/drinks there are stunning! Impressive drink selection and the the people were wonderful! Especially the manager there, take care Mitch! And thank you for everything!
Coastal tasting plate for 2 people $70, very average, were better before they changed them to area platters.
WASPS! Cannot eat my delicious muffin in peace in the garden. Running away to my car. Book to eat inside to avoid them. Lovely garden otherwise with plenty of birds incl parrots:)
Nice high end lunch spot. We had the platter for 4. Bottle of wine. Beers and milk shakes for the kids. Around $180
Nice outdoor grounds for the children to run around
Beautiful cheese platters with emaculate presentation, and the staff are very knowledgeable about what they serve.
Amazing options for gluten free.
I love the atmosphere here.
Staff friendly.
Prices way over the top.
Almond late normally for a mug elswhere
$5 to $5.50. Here a mug is $7
Very tasty genuine Tasmanian food inside a lovely conservatory building, in a countryside setting.
If you don't have time to travel the entire cradle to coast tasting trail, just go here and have the gourmet tasting platter. It had a wide range of delicacies from the local region and the best of everything!
I couldn't make a bad combination of flavours on the plate, every mouthful worked in perfect harmony. Tasmania has world class produce and this place has curated a fantastic selection.
Can't recommend this place enough.
