Star Bar

This place has always been my go to stay in launceston cbd. As others have reviewed and noted I also got a delayed flight into Tasmania and the owner bar staff waited 2hrs after their close time to wait an accommodate me. If I've ever had an issue there it's been easily and honestly fixed. There atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. The staff are friendly and do there best and the owner is honest and approachable. Not everything has to be 5 star but it's no fuzz no hassle and worth what you pay in this economic world. Thanks guys.

This place was great! We arrived late (flight delay) and Joe was kind enough to stay open for us, efficiently checked us in, and had a great attitude throughout. The room was basic but spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. They even provided tea and coffee. Very convenient location, walkable to all the attractions and great restaurants. Would gladly stay there again.

Super yummy food and nicest people, awesome service! The pasta was bang on, such a welcome change with new owners and a new team! Star Bar is back couldn’t recommend highly enough

We stopped by for lunch and some beverages. It did not disappoint.

Scotch Fillet 250grams rare
My partner was extremely satisfied with his Sitch fillet. Cooked to perfection, on the red side. And the with the perfect amount of vegetables as a bed. A great proportion.

Chicken tacos
Freshly made and the chicken was not dry at all. The flavours were very subtle, the pickled cabbage and onion had an Asian flavour to the tacos which I really liked.

Perfect, just like how we make them at home. Except the spices were a lot nicer. Really fluffy inside

Interiors
Great both seating and also bar seating.

Would have loved to sit outside on the bar table they were all full. Nice interior, it has a earthy and masculine feel. Very comfortable seating.

Live music.
It was great to hear live music and watching a couple dance to the music. Really sweet.

Good pizza about the only thing nice about this joint.toilets doing have a mirror, super small, TVs have no visuals. If you are planning on staying during the weekend bring a great set of ear plugs because the rooftop bar will have a dj with no respect for the in-house guests, playing overly loud obnoxious music. Patrons of the rooftop bar yelling and screaming.useless. Cheers for the pizza though

Should have realised something was up when there was vomit in doorway of reception when we checked in. Look its an old hotel/pub in city. Its not going to be the hiton we know but you do expect the toilets and showersto work properly.fail. TV.forget it.what we didnt expect or we informed of was the Upstairs bar 10mtrs from our room has a DJ playing incredibly loud music along with drunk patrons walking around the corridors. Zero sleep. Zero what the staff could do. Can only feel sorry for everyone else who just wanted to sleep.or watch tv.not the end we wanted on our holiday. But pizza was nice

Pleasant staff but fish and chips sooo disappointing. Three tiny fingers of fish, soggy and very average. Wife’s linguine bolognaise was ok.

Was in for lunch last Saturday. Service is really good, lovely friendly staff but the wait times for our meals were exceedingly long. We only ordered a couple of entrees each to share.

Great place to stay. Awesome staff, very helpful. Rooms are basic but clean and tidy with on suite. Highly recommended as it's in the heart of the city.

Meals were great and of a generous size and they cater to people with food allergies. Plenty of staff available to take orders and bring meals to the table. A very enjoyable experience. Thank you Star Bar

Great place for lunch, conveniently located in central Launceston. Staff are very attentive and happy to help.

Sarah is super helpful. The check in time is from 2pm to 9pm, and due to some miscommunication from the booking website, we arrived late and the hotel locked.

Sarah drove all the way from home to drop off the key at midnight.

Room is tidy and clean. For a quick stop, there's nothing to complain. Excellent location to all the shops, and 4 minutes walk to the transit centre with intercity coach.

Picked my key up around 2.30pm and had to go to a work function so didn’t check out my room. Probably my first mistake. Returned late at night to discover the room was completely unkept. Bed still messed up from previous guest, wet towels, all of the cups dirty and bin completely full from the previous guest trash. Lucky I travel with a towel for a shower. Shower was so small that when you turn it on the water sprays all over the floor. The TV was the size of an iPad, didn’t matter because there was no remote to turn it on and it was that high up on the wall I could reach it anyway. The curtain to the hallways (no exterior windows) was broken so anyone walking down the hallway could look into the room so zero privacy. No curtain on the bathroom window (also into the hallway) so anyone can look in through the window vent. PowerPoint on the wall was purely for show. Only 200m away from the police station but still somehow people doing burnouts in the car park for the majority of the night. I will never stay here again. I’ll drive to Devonport next time

We went back and had lunch here before heading home to VIC. The chicken was to die for! Get the popcorn chicken or satay chicken! I have no idea what they crumb or batter it in but it's delicious and it was so juicy and tender. And not to mention for an Entree size, we were full! Loved it. Thanks so much.

We were at a function upstairs and were to have platters served. Yes they were served but not until after 7.30 pm when they were supposed to be served earlier. Staff were asked several times when would the food be served and were told 15 mins.then nearly an hour later were told 10mins. Not good.

Didn't actually get to stay as COVID19 caused us to cancel but staff kindly accepted short notice cancellation due to extenuating circumstances and didn't charge us. Very helpful.

I gave 1 star for the cleanliness. I would never recommend anyone to stay here unless you don't need to sleep at night. Disco dancefloor next to rooms until 1am. I can feel my bed is jumping along with the drum beats! No mention about the dancefloor on website at all. If I know, I would not have book at all. Room is missing the TV remote control, told staff but never never get response as they have said will find me one!

The worst night in my life. 100 dollars for staying up all night. The walls are shaking, my bed is jumping, the music is so loud, I feel like I'm on the dance floor. Absolutely disgusting. No info about a night long party on the website.

Lovely service and lovely room. Good internet connection. Was glad I'd brought my own hair products as only body wash is provided. Kettle didn't fit under the sink tap, but staff were more than happy to provide a jug of water. Great to have a fan and heater available. Overall pretty happy with my stay.

We had our staff party on the rooftop area and we all had a ball. The music was great and the food well the pizza's were delicious could not stop eating them. The bar attendant was the perfect host. Merry Christmas?
