Sandy Bay Beach Wood fired Pizza reviews
34 Disappointing and bland are the best ways I would describe this experience.
A supposed 15 minutes wait was almost 30 minutes, which is inexcusable for a single pizza on a quiet and slow afternoon.
Upon entering the store my experience was none the better, the employees chatting away, no care for customer service and completely disrespectful towards both the food and the customer.
Not once was I greeted upon entry or a single smile was shared between.
The cashier who served me couldn’t be more unhappy to be working and was rude and impolite, not a single thank you was exchanged not once again a smile.
This was my first initial bad sign.
Upon waiting almost the double time quoted for the pizza I was met with a sad and disappointing looking pepperoni pizza, a simple dish to get right.
It was greasy, extremely oily and the pizza base tasted frozen and had 0 flavour or texture. The whole pizza was just so underwhelming and almost inedible.
Not to mention this pizza costed $22 which is a very steep price for essential some cardboard and a grease stain.
The only redeeming quality would be the beach views and good weather.
2/10 I would not even wish this pizza upon my worst enemy and would definitely not recommend to anyone hungry for pizza.
We really enjoyed the Greek Spinach Feta, Mexican Chicken and the Summer Lamb the other night - will be back!
Had the best pizza in years
You can bring a bottle to have with your meal and there's no corkage
Lovely views dining outside
Amazing Mexican Chicken Pizza, loved the cozy atmosphere, food was delicious. I really recommend going there. Really nice staff too. Will visit again, for sure.
Best pizza we have had for a long time, toppings delicious and generous, base cooked perfectly and nicely risen so it is light yet crispy under. Sitting outside with a wonderful view of the Derwent River is hard to beat!
Highly recommended.
Great pizza.
Great service, particularly by the young 10 year old man Florien.
"Very best dessert pizza I've ever had", stated our 9 year old man Dane.
So good we came back 2 nights in a row.
Josh and family from NSW:)
Not bad pizza but very salty.too many pizza places rely on the words “WOOD FIRE PIZZA” to sell their pizzas and not enough on producing a great pizza. Sorry but have had a lot better pizzas than this.wonder how many places actually try their own pizzas? Also $45 for two small pizzas! Bit over priced considering the $3 it costs to make a pizza!
Awesome pizza. Great location. If you go there on a quiet evening on a cold day you can sit inside with the woodfire the pizzas get cooked in heating you up. On sunny hot days seating outside is available. Nice views of the beach whether you sit inside or outside. Just note there aren't many seats inside and outside can be cold on a cold day.
Had pizza here last night the pizza was spot on. It was a hot balmy night and the shop was absolutely under the pump and I would say that some of the humans ordering were not happy with wait especially one lady who I have to say was at the absolutely bottom of pile when it comes to humanity. That said I would encourage the owner to review that situation and maybe cap orders taken or use a number order re call system as to alert a customer to give them a half hour heads up. Great job excellent food
Ordered two large pizzas which were very good and large. I thought of having a large on my own but only managed half og it. The people behind the desk was also lovely
The best Pizza I have had in a very long time! Had ‘Tim’s Special’ - an absolutely wonderful combination of vegetarian ingredients. Will definitely be back, soon!
Gets very busy - but friendly efficient service.
It was a balmy, beachy evening with lots of people around, and I can accept that there was a 1 hour 45 min wait for our 7 pizzas (even though this does seem kind of excessive).
What was difficult to swallow was that the “Thai Chicken Curry” was inedible due to a. It being Keens Curry, and very musty tasting (not at all Thai), and b. It being partly cooked, and partly uncooked. It was soggy and sticking to the cardboard in sections.
As I was so hungry once it arrived, I ate a slice, but I threw the rest of the entire pizza in the bin. The base (?) tastes cheap and white, and has upset my stomach for the rest of the evening.
Sadly I will not be buying pizza from here again.
Jolly good pizza. Not greasy.one of my main requirements, and very tasty. I do wish it was open more. Sometimes, after googling it and it's open hours, I walk down the hill, looking forward to either a pizza or an ice cream and find it's shut. It's happened numerous times. Here's hoping the future's a li'l more reliable.
Tasteless, no flavour, extremely burnt crust to the point they cut the crust off one of the pizza's. The base and middle is barely cooked. Disappointed because we wish we went somewhere else, we couldn't believe they gave us a pizza that burnt.
We ordered the TAS seafood pizza and it was simply delicious. Generous amount of seafood, topped with Just amount of sauce. Just nice for a cold and windy evening sitting inside, facing the beach. Thank you.
I haven't eaten a pizza from here in many years, and with a decent rating (4.3!) I thought I better give it another run. I shouldn't have bothered. The satay pizza tasted like a blend of chicken two minute noodle seasoning and cheap peanut butter, and the hawaiian was on par with a pizza you'd expect to get in a country town on a Monday night, edible if you're starved but only just. This place has no excuses to be flogging a poor product, it's in a great location with a somewhat captive market and the prices allow for decent ingredients, so I can only attribute the dismal pizza to a lack of passion by the operator.
Seen this place many time, but never eaten from here. Just so happened I was in the right place at the right time and thought I'd grab some for dinner.
Great friendly service. Fella who took my order had a sense of humour which is always a good thing.
Fast cook time. Reasonably priced. Will return.
Expensive pizzas considering the bases are like cardboard and the toppings are ordinary.
Revisit your dough recipe and use that rad wood fired oven to its full potential to do justice to your namesake.
Best pizzas we've had in quite a while. And nice service to top things off. Totally recommended and infinitely better than the fish and chips cafe down the road.
Pizza is amazing, at the view is awesome. The customer service is great and they have a loyalty program that is pretty cool!
They have Ice cream too.
This is a first choice for date night!
