Saint John Craft Beer Bar reviews
55 If you love beer and if you love craft beer especially, this place is the only place on your agenda when you visit Launceston.
The selection of beers is huge and of the four days I visited Launceston, I must have come here at least three times, just to try so many of the beers they had. Even better if you don't want to sit in you can take-away.
The beers on tap is constantly rotating and the service from the staff is friendly and helpful. Plenty of room to sit and the atmosphere is great.
The food from the kitchen is delicious if your looking for a snack of even a lunch/dinner option.
Cosy bar with a good selection of craft beers. They had an espresso Martini on tap for the non beer drinkers which was novel.
What a selection of craft beers! Tuesday night meat raffle is well worth a visit. The staff are well informed, help you with your selection and just an all round great bunch. The burgers were fantastic - absolutely would recommend if you've got 1 night in Launceston and want a great place to go.
Good selection of beers, nice atmosphere. Chips were a bit too oily for our taste and the burgers were okay.
Well presented location with a large layout of a bunch of different rooms. They all exhibit a dark and grungy feel with music to kick. Chill at the bar and sample the large choice of local and national craft beers or hide away on one of the comfy couches. They have a small menu with a vegan burger option. It was a little pricey considering it was just a burger but was tasty af. Got the chips which were a great size for sharing and the home-made sauce range is yum. Staff all support friendly and clientele range from all age brackets and places around the world. It was pleasantly busy for a Thursday evening.
I give 5 stars to the place (cool, big and live music), 3 stars about food (good, but nothing to highlight and frozen chips), to the lady with glasses from the bar I give 0 stars (she was upset that I asked for my dinner). In short, I will not return.
We had the fried chicken and chips. Good price for pub food and chicken was crispy and fries fresh. Chicken was a bit dull though and could have had a bit more seasoning. Dip was useful and redeemed it a bit. Chips were salted well but the house seasoning is just a lot of paprika if that’s your thing.
I've visited a lot of "craft" beer places in my time and was very impressed with this establishment, the people really know their beers and are super happy to talk about other beers they haven't yet tried or heard of. 5 stars.
Great selection of beers. The staff were very knowledgeable about beers and gave great suggestions. We missed out on the chicken wings as we had to get somewhere but apparently they are really good!
Such a great selection of beers from around Australia on tap and in cans. The guys behind the bar are super friendly and know their stuff.
A little disappointing. I have enjoyed whiskey dens in Australia and around the world and love talking whiskey with bar staff. We found the woman behind the bar to be a chronic eye roller. Oh well.just having a bad day I suppose. Still at those prices one is paying for the experience not just the whiskey.
Awesome selection of beers on tap and even more in cans. Great atmosphere, food and service make this one of favourite venues in Launceston!
Came for the beers and stayed for the food! Wow! Burgers are great and way above your regular pub food, if your looking for something a bit more down to earth then the Metz this is your place.
Recommend the gochujang sauce if you’re after something with a kick.
Had one night in Launceston before hiking the overland track and absolutely loved this place. So many good craft beers on tap and has a very friendly, personal atmosphere. The owner and staff are great to talk to. Very impressed to find a bar of this quality in Launceston. Can't wait to come back!
