Saint John Craft Beer Bar reviews
55Have always been curious about this place. Reading reviews here am a bit gutted I missed the Beef Wellington burger that was on the menu a year ago, wish I'd come in before. So I came in pretty much after stepping off the plane from Melbourne after a sleepless night, hectic trip over with an hour delay due to the weather and tried the pork burger. I'd had a very impressive pork belly burger at Republic bar in Hobart so thought I'd see if I could continue the luck with the pork and I was not disappointed. This was a knockout, interesting ingredients and flavours, lovingly cooked with a generous, high quality Scotch fillet of pork, I expected it to be decent but this was really good. It is pretty much perfect gastro pub food, hit the bullseye and the Tasmanian IPA beer from the tap I paired it with complementef it perfectly. The chimichurri sauce the man at the bar recommended to go with the chips was beautiful too. Warm, cosy, inviting atmosphere, staff all really friendly and nice, seriously impressed.
Bummer! Last time we had lunch here, ordered the pork belly tacos and they were so good. I came to Launceston for my bday wknd and wanted those great tacos. Well, I ordered 2 pork belly tacos & 1 baby corn. 30 minutes later, my food came out cold. I asked staff if they could please re-do my meal. 30 seconds later, (microwave?) tacos came out like mush. Last time you could actually tell the pork was chunks of meat! This time couldnt even distinquish what was meat or? No. I didnt get to eat. Drag is I thought I found a good place to eat & it was so bad & traveled two hrs for my bday! Live & learn. Moving here from the US, thought I found a good place. Nope.
Great bar! Massive range of beers. And very impressed to find gluten free beer on tap. The burgers are also excellent.
Great vibe our kids loved dinner here, tacos were awesome! Beer selection also impressive and the staff are so friendly!
My official favourite haunt when I visit Launceston, especially for lunch. Very tasty food which actually caters to dietary requirements like vegan or dairy and gluten sensitivity.
Their drink selection is extensive and mostly local, but above all they have a range of non-alcoholic craft beers! (Including stout)
The staff are knowledgeable, outgoing, prompt and just generally good at what they do.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff who helped those who didnt know much about beers, great food (highly recommend the pork tacos and anything with chips!) Would come again
After driving around Launceston on a Sunday evening late desperately looking for food and a drink we came across St Johns. I have to say I wasn't expecting great food here but the Angus burger was the best hamburger I've had in my 60 years.
Coming from Sydney with so many premium burger places none of them tasted like this.
The staff were great, the beers on tap were wonderful but that burger was sublime.
Fantastic crew here and a great beer selection. If you are a beer lover, thos is a must stop in Launie
Relaxed vibe, lovely place to kick back and sample a few different beers. Staff were friendly and helpful with suggestions.
None atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was good. Had two of their beers, neither was fantastic to style but ok. Need to go back and try the others.
We ordered:
- fried chicken burger
- pork, chicken and fish tacos
- salmon gravlax
- Hope Brewery Sunny Boy Orange & Mango Super Sour
- moo brew dark ale
We ordered via the QR code and the food came out promptly.
Service and food was great.
They have a wide variety of beers and ciders on taps. The sour orange mango beer and the pork tacos were the standout of our meal.
Will definitely be back if we are ever in Launceston again.
It was a quiet holiday Friday. The burger was better than home made and the chips the best ever. The beers were tasty and the staff were great. 5 stars!
Shout out to Rob, Will and Leo on kitchen duties tonight absolutely smashed it!
The pork tacos were amazing! 10/10 would recommend
Great beer selection on tap, all staff were friendly and professional?
Had a great time
Great place awsum food, and the grapfruit on tap yummy, if your hungry and want a great choice of beers ciders whisky and gin, great atmosphere get ya skeletons in there
Unreal service, everyone working there was awesome. Cheers guys will be back when I visit next!
James and Sam were hospitable, knowledgeable, polite, funny, accommodating and probably some of the best bartenders we’ve come across on our journeys.
Spectacular selection, tremendous cocktails, amazing food.
Cannot recommend highly enough, definitely will be back!
Great range of beers on tap. I ate crumbed fish with smoked pickles and twice cooked potatoes…fish was great, dill flavoured sauce was good and the smoked pickles, spectacular! Twice cooked potatoes were good, but would have been better with the pistou fresh not baked, which would have added an element of freshness to elevate the dish to excellence.
Awesome. Great beers, great service, great chips. Fish could be better, but that's our fault for being pescatarian.
Nice craft beer place in Launceston. Has good stuff even from south aus, eg little bang. There are some vegan options for food. Shame that there were no dark beers or stouts. Would've also loved the option for a tasting paddle!
Amazing burgers and chips (so crispy). Good selection on tap, more available as cans or bottles. Nice spot for a sneaky afternoon
