Delicious fish and chips with home made tartare! Good coffee and lovely service! Also the birds will compliment you on the way out

Excellent food and an excellent service.
I particularly liked the free-walk through 1800's museum with audio recordings on what it was like in those days.
Very well set up.
Great for animal lovers or those wanting to introduce little humans to not only farm animals but some exotic ones like camels and an ostrich.
There is also cabins (seperate to the animals) that one could stay in, I beilive these were around the $150 mark per night but best to check with the owners for accomidation prices.

We turned up late on a Wednesday in the off-season but were greeted very warmly and had a delightful dinner! Great wine and best schnitzel I've had in a while.

Omg, the food is fantastic! Well done chef.
Service is a delight and even with a full house you don't have to wait forever for your meals, setting is a great country feel, animals to see, good rustic accommodation with wood fire. A must visit spot on the tasman peninsula!

We had dinner here after our 4 day walking trek. Not a lot of other options around, but look no further as this place was great. Friendly staff and the food honestly was very high quality. It was quiet on the Monday evening, but they were open and happily looked after us. Thanks so much!

Great restaurant, great service, lots of animals and birds to feed. Sit down have a meal, drink or dessert. Variety of food.
Then buy a cheap bag of feed and go feed the animals. Animals include. There are camels, emus, horses, deer, birds the lot, with arena horse entertainment and handling.cottages for accommodation available onsite and even a little onsite museum

We went there for the food, but turned around when we saw the birds in cages - extremely sad. Animals should be free and not used for entertainment.

It was appalling to see beautiful creatures in such tiny cages. That is animal cruelty! These beautiful creatures should not be forced to live their lives in these horrific tiny cages just for human entertainment. It’s gross. Most birds aren’t even from here. They should be free and left alone where they belong. Strongly do not recommend! We turned around immediately when we saw so many birds in cages.

Mediocre atmosphere
The shared Tassie tasting platter was just awful
Mountains of bread with a concoction of cold meats and bits of cheese

I've been here 3 times to the restaurant, its almost all home made and as you can imagine home made makes it taste AMAZING! I highly recommend the beef pie with chutney.

Popped in for coffee and cake. Delightfully tasty homemade Chocolate Caramel Tart and Mandarin Cashew Cake (maybe a little on the expensive side).
Service was great! Don't let the empty carpark deceive you.
Cute little baby animals running around outside ideal for the kids to go and play with.
We'll be back next time we're in Tassie!

Very small lunch portions. Expensive menu. Food had no flavor. Below standard service. Chef didn’t even bother to get feedback when we wanted to pass it on. Will recommend Port Arthur cafe to this place. It’s just 10 mins away and much better.

I feel like this place is a hidden gem.
I've been a few times, most recently to partake in the Christmas carols event they hosted, and it was very clear then, that this place is well loved and hugely popular with locals.
The husband and wife owners are very lovely, welcoming people, as is every other staff member I have met there.
The place itself is home to many rescued animals, camels, deer, cows, pigs, many birds, etc. They all have their own fenced areas, which you can talk/interact with them through from the outside, and you are taken on an informative tour past them all, via an atv driven cart by the husband owner (and sometimes a feathered friend on his shoulder) when you arrive.
You are then free to wander around at your own pace to revisit the animals again on foot. There are bags of food available to feed certain animals also.
During the tour, we stopped outside a huge horse arena, where the wife owner was riding the most magnificent horse you will ever see! Think Fabio of the horse world, haha.
They demonstrated some amazing tricks which clearly would take many hours of training together to perfect. Really a must see, I could have watched for hours!
When you've had enough of the animals, there is also a really cool little museum inside, and a restaurant serving amazing food. You can grab a bite to go, or sit indoors or out, with a huge outdoor decking and grassed area with picnic tables also dotted around too.
Definitely a place worth stopping at for a meal and wander when en route to the Port Arthur region, or just a planned half day trip in itself. I think they've also been hosting a monthly market there too.

A great place to visit. Food was nice, service was very friendly, and the little musium and petting zoo was very interesting and fun to wander around after a good meal!

Lovey place for lunch. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Fish was fresh and well cooked and they also have lots of vegetarian options.

For starters could probably use a separate page for the accommodation side of the business, the restaurant and the animal park so that reviews don't get confused. I only experienced the petting zoo and it was hands down one of the most enjoyable tourism experiences I've had in all of my travels around the world. Part of the reason is that it's incredibly authentic, and part of a working farm (I think!). I thought it would only be farm animals - but there was a STUNNING array of birds from all around the world which I wasn't expecting - as well as some foreign animals which is was so incredible to see up close and personal (not like a zoo!) Being able to pat and feed animals was also a lovely experience. From what I understand these guys opened not long before all of the covid stuff, so I can't wait to return in the future once they have gone from strength to strength. People in the area raved about the food too but I didn't get a chance to have a meal. The museum is also really well done! Thankfully I am local so I get to return in the future!

Came here for dinner and the service was fantastic. Food came out promptly and was cooked well. The mushroom sauce was gravy with pieces of mushroom rather than the creamy mushroom sauce I prefer. Chicken schnitzel was crispy with great roast vegetables. We had the Apple and rhubarb cake with icecream and that was delicious. Salmon was slightly dry but was good with pesto sauce. Prices are a bit high but they source their ingredients locally and overall enjoyed our dining experience.
