Prospect House Private Hotel

Just finished up a 7 night stay here, through a luxury escapes booking and it was worth every dollar.
Was greeted on arrival in the carpark and was assisted to our room. Hoteliers David and Kylie were outstanding in their service throughout our stay and made a significant contribution to the enjoyment of our stay.
Tasteful room with heated floors, a nice touch especially in winter.
Breakfast is as advertised, and all the dinners we had were outstanding.
Location is stunning, just as you enter Richmond.
Would absolutely recommend a visit even for a night or two solely due to the food and service.

You can stay at places and not think much about it and the staff then make it enjoyable and memorable. Such was the case here. It's a nice old hotel renovated and comfortable. But maitre de David and the lovely lady doing breakfast made the difference and it was a fabulous stay. Definitely 15/10, as was the coffee.

We are a family of four with two teenagers and were on vacation in Richmond. We had dinner at Prospect Private Restaurant and it was FABULOUS. Each meal, each glass of wine delivered an explosion of flavours. The staff was marvellous, friendly and highly professional. We can't wait for the next time!

Room was nice and cosy, unfortunately invaded with flying insects by night. Dinner and breakfast were very good.

Could not recommend Prospect House more highly - to locals and tourists alike. My husband and I stayed there in the lead up to our wedding and the days following, and it was the perfect place for us to relax. We were so well looked after by James, David and all the staff who were incredibly accommodating, thoughtful and kind. I was very impressed with the vegan options which was catered for me, and the food was absolutely delicious all round. An excellent selection of excellent beverages were available as well.

The staff at Prospect House go above and beyond which makes the stay really special, alongside the amazing setting that are the house and grounds itself. We hope to return again for special occasions and anniversaries in the future. Thank you for a really beautiful, memorable stay.

We had high expectations, and made our reservation well advance. What a beautiful property and serving staff at dinner were polite.
But the food, oh my gosh, during our two and half weeks around in Australia, absolutely the worst.

Pre-started was eatable but served on plastic spoon. Tortellini were full of pasta and ever more of the tasteless white (milk) sauce. But the worst was over cooked dried “risotto” that was swimming in oil, and laughable “truffle” cheese from Spain. That cheese had no truffle in it, but either mould or blue cheese.
Could it have been replacement “cook” or wgat went wrong?
We did not finish the risotto or the cheese. Lucky we had time to drive to Hobart to get some oysters and desserts, as we were hunyand wanted to end the dinner in good taste in our mouths.

5 course dinner with matching wine was worth 5 stars alone. Every dish was delicate and balanced.
Staff are friendly and helpful. We were there to relax and it was the perfect place to do this.
Wheelchair access room was well laid out. There is wheelchair access parking and the main building rooms where we had breakfast and dinner were easy to navigate.

An amazing stay. Unbelievable food, service and location. I can not recommend this place highly enough.

Absolutely divine. The staff were very polite and helpful. The house is beautifully kept, there were plenty of activities and books in the conservatory and it is just a short stroll to Richmond. If is definitely worth getting the 2 course breakfast and 5 course dinner, both were phenomenal and worth the money.

I wanted a special meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I had also been past here on many occasions, and had wanted to go in. So the opportunity arose, and we took it. We are so happy we did. The meal was of a very high standard. If you are looking to gorge yourself, you would be in the wrong kind of establishment, but if you are looking for a pleasant fine dining experience, this could be for you. Attentive, friendly service. There was nothing we would even remotely consider complaint worthy. Thankyou.

We had the best time on our wedding anniversary at the restaurant at Prospect house. Neitta our waitress was absolutely superb and the food was divine with a standout of the pork loin with fennel and sauce Verte. It was a wonderful opportunity to reminisce about when we were married at prospect house 25 years ago. A very special night at a beautifully maintained heritage building.

The five course dining experience was sublime. Each course as divine as the last. Flavoursome ingredients curated carefully to equal delicious mouthfuls of originality. Well done.

Our group of six stayed over the last weekend and is an absolute treat! The rooms, food awesome and the service, all staff were an absolute credit to their profession, there wasn't anything that they wouldn't do for you. Applies to the the vineyard over the road, Pooleys, as well, attentive and helpful staff and great pizzas. Thank you to all, you made our "treat" weekend everything we hoped for. I would recommend Prospect House and Pooleys vineyard to anyone who want to treat themselves or just indulge in service and accommodation of yesteryear.

Without doubt you have to stay here if in there area.
Peaceful, quiet, warm and inviting.
The staff are wonderful and the food divine.

Sparkling clean rooms, magnificently renovated old home, we felt very welcome. We will be back when we have time to enjoy everything Prospect House has to offer!
