It was okay. It had come recommended but was sadly underwhelmed.

Pros: stunning area, clean and quite suite, close to the beach, nice little balcony, nice staff, amazing location for photo shoots or weddings, heated bathrooms floors! Comfy bed. Beautiful interiors and exterior buildings.

Cons: when you’re paying $400+ a night this place misses the details and standards. The rooms come with nothing more than a standard hotel room would at $150 a night. Tea bags and coffee pods, plus your usual bathroom shampoo etc. One tiny milk jug in the fridge.

Case study in room details: The Ovolo, offers a fully stocked mini bar plus loot bag that is entirely included in the room price that gets restocked fully every day you’re there. Plus the tea and coffee offered was high end, breakfast included in room price.

Case study in service details: Little National, offers a short bottle of Moët and small desserts upon check in.

The Calile Hotel, offers to book restaurant reservations for guests, has staff to open doors or press the elevator button for you, provides a list of things to see and do in the area.

The restaurant was closed for dinner, which was fine, and advised of the tavern prior to our stay but we didn’t realise you needed a reservation as it was fully booked when we tried to go for dinner at 530pm. A nice detail would have been to offer to make a booking for us, upon check in, for the tavern. The service for breakfast at the Piermont restaurant was average. While the servers were nice, people seated well after us received service but we had none and had to go up to the counter and was informed there’s only “two of us, we’re coming” and to be patient (this was after we were greeted when we walked in and told to find a seat and someone would come over). We waited 10mins and watched people arriving well after us be looked after. We were there for an hour, not once did anyone ask if we wanted another coffee or if there was anything else we needed as they walked past or upon serving our breakfast.

We totally understand if the area is struggling to find staff, and if that impacted the stay however the finer details were really missed that would set this place apart from anywhere else or a standard $150 a night hotel. Suggestions: A small basket featuring local Tasmanian cheese or crackers and a small bottle of wine? A welcome note on the bed with a list of things to see and do in the area plus samples from nearby farms or vineyards etc in the fridge to enjoy? Piermont Retreat branded slippers! And fluffy robes with branding on it (the robes in the room were ultra stiff and scratchy feeling). A “smores making pack” and a note to say come and join us by the fire pit in the afternoon and toast marshmallows? There is sooo much potential in this place, the foundations of gorgeous grounds and beautiful suites are there, but everything else just lacks given the price per night. Are you relying on being pretty to look at to justify the price or wanting to actually target and be considered upper market/luxury?

Such a peaceful and relaxing retreat. 3 bedroom cottage perfect for our family's overnight stay. Stunning outlook. Meals were truly amazing, delicious, and clever- however, the servings at dinner were small and the males did leave hungry (consider adding a fourth course of local bread and olive oil).

This place was a slice of heaven. The rooms were beautiful, the views out of this world, food and service impeccable. I didn't want to leave. Will 100% be back for a much longer stay next time.

We stayed for one night, the room had worms in it. Like everywhere! It was disgusting. Apparently some introduced species of work introduced a while back. My problem was we should have been compensated in some way, it was disgusting you have a worm crawling along the wall 800mm away from where you sleep. More over the food was quite expensive. Scenery was amazing but not worth the price, and they should have made it right with us (with the worms).

If your budget is $500/night - expect a dated room. If you have strict and serious dietaries, you might leave the restaurant being sick and still be required to pay in full. If a curt and unhelpful concierge is your jam, book away.
If these limitations don’t apply to you, you’d probably have a great time.
Grounds and location are spectacular. On reflection, I wished we camped and cooked our own food. We’d have saved $1500.

Even better than we expected.

We were blown away by the views from the oceanfront cottage, they honestly took your breath away.
Facilities were great, everything you need to cater at at home, and we were rapt (and surprised) to even have a washer and dryer.
Friendly staff. Worth a meal at the restaurant, it was beautiful food.
It was just so lovely after away of activities to come back to this little oasis.

Cottage for a couple was Devine!
Completely timber interior with high ceilings. Self contained with everything including fireplace. In this Covid climate, having the ability to cater for oneself, in this perfect relaxing Honeymoon cottage with sea views was a welcoming retreat, after being out all day. Although 50 minutes from Freycinet it was worth the drive.

We loved our time here. They were happy for us to leave the rental car while we went on a winery tour before we checked in which helped alleviate some stress.
The room was a gorgeous little cottage right by the beach.
We had dinner at the restaurant, which you need to book well in advance because the chef's prepare a set menu on the day. I'm vegan and the menu they prepared was fantastic! I've never been so excited by a plate of onions before, but they absolutely nailed it! Each course was delicate, delicious and presented beautifully.
I highly recommend Piermont and can't wait to return!

WA government mandated hard border, for reasons not in our control we were not able to fly to Tasmania.

We too as small business owners, have endured the effects of Covid. So that excuse is unbelievable, this was the only accomodation that rejected us for a full refund. For that reason, when we return we will not book here.

Restricted from travel by Covid rules which changed prior to our booking - Piermont Retreat declined of offer a refund only if they could resell, contacted them a few times leading up to the booking to indicate this maybe impacted by Covid policy changes - they never responded or even acknowledged which sets this team apart (in a bad way) than other hosts

We had a very nice room, nice out look to beach, very comfortable it was all good but we were very disappointed in the meal. It certainly wasnt value for money. It was very different to our taste, very little of it, there were only 2 things we enjoyed which was asparagus and the tiny bit of sweets, I actually felt crook after the meal, did not enjoy it at all. We went back to our room to have some nuts and fruit and cup of tea to feel right in the tummy, Wouldnt eat there again, price was over the top.

Great place with fantastic views
Relaxing cottages with fire place.country style and modern your choice
Nice food
The place is well maintained
Surprisingly the receptionists were rude and not friendly at all.
We arrived late because of the closure of the road.
Shockingly they were trying to find if we are still arriving or not for a room already paid for?
I wonder why
Great place but bad attitude

We stayed at Piermont Retreat for two nights in August, in a two bedroom stone cottage. (Cottage 3)

A beautiful place, quiet and classy. Private.

We drank red wine in front of the fire, (plenty of wood on hand, and kindling available). The kitchen had everything I needed to cook up a risotto one night.

The bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable with a beautiful view. (That sunrise!) The loft bedroom above.

We spent some time on the deck, taking in the view and hearing the water lapping the beach.

Bathroom and laundry together, everything you need on hand.

Recommend.

We stayed at Piermont Retreat for Christmas 2019. The lights in the bathroom were not working and there was an interim desk lamp. It was too dangerous for us to enjoy a bath. Staff did nothing and said they cannot fix it during the weekend. We received no compensation. I'm only posting this now because a friend me asked me about where to stay in Tasmania and I remembered. The surrounds are nice but the staff are unhelpful. The food was also very good. If you do book here make sure you also book for the restaurant because will not hold extra seats for stay in guests. There are no close restaurants nearby either.

We didn’t stay but ate at the homestead. Oh man! It was by far the beat meal we had in tassie. The set menu was something else - truffle wagyu steak was perhaps the highlight of our whole trip. Very lovely wait staff too.
Loved it and will make the trip back to Swansea to go again!

Gosh we love the aesthetic of this place so much I mean you have the food and the wine and just the amazing hospitality that greets you from the moment you walk in the door. I would say that I fell in love with not only the food, but also the wine selection and the homeliness of the restaurant that we so happened to be able to sit in and appreciate. Can’t wait to Bruces place again and enjoy many more of its fabulous luxuries.

Piermont is a must do. Simple as that. Plan for at least 2 nights to allow time to unwind in serene surrounds with outstanding food.

The rooms might be a mixed bag with some established buildings and some brand new cottages and villas. We stayed in one of the new oceanfront cottages and it was BEAUTIFUL. Modern fit out, open fire place, private beach at our doorstep, breathtaking views from every window and a short stroll to the restaurant and amenities. The grounds themselves are beautiful and you can spend days just enjoying them - we did! Borrow a bike, try tennis, take a kayak, whatever you like.

Now the restaurant. Plan your days around eating here. Breakfast is a la carte and dinner is a set menu that changes daily. Everything is absolutely delicious and perfectly portioned. We wish we had booked more nights!

Staff were all lovely and very helpful. Our only critiques were that the bar doesn’t offer cocktails and wifi was not included - but who cares. We will definitely be returning.
