PHAT FISH / Pavilion @ Salamanca reviews
70Incredible pub. Consistently amazing food, cheap drinks and great service. Sarah especially makes this pub a pleasure to be in!
Plenty of tvs, venue quite small so hard to grab a seat at times. Lost a bit of atmosphere once the footy had finished if you wanted to kick on and have a couple of beers post game. Great to have a sports bar nonetheless and im sure it will only improve. Bar food was good!
Great hidden away pavilion in Tasmania great cafes, restaurants definitely recommended if your Tasmania Hobart.
Finally a sports bar in Salamanca.
A few sound stage issues but other than that, pretty good!
We ordered the mixed platter and would highly recommend, although id probably ask for no extra/added salt next time as it was a tad bit too salty.
Oysters were fire though! Really fresh, clean taste and the battered fish was just what you want, crispy outside, soft and melt in your mouth on the inside!
Excellent scallops with potatoes and salad. It was great to see they left the roe on the scallops. Good selection of Tassie wines.
Seafood was fresh, prices were reasonable and service was friendly AND fast. Great option if you’re looking for a casual seafood dinner in Salamanca
Dropped in for the Wednesday Fish n Chips with a glass of wine special for $25. Great value, crispy batter on the fish, a nice bit of salad, and the BEST chips. Fluffy, crispy and oh so hot!
Got the seafood basket and grilled scallops. Food was decent, enjoyed particularly the panko crumbed fish and fried prawns.
Myself and three others wanted seafood and decided this place looked nice, we wondered why it was nearly empty on a Friday night but ordered food anyway.
The staff were friendly and having fun, so much so they forgot to send the food to the kitchen to make which one of us found out after an hour when we enquired as to where our food was. In the hour after we ordered where not much was going on, it hadn't occurred to them to see where it was or remember to follow up. Very inept and we wouldn't recommend, makes sense why they were near empty.
Appears the staff didn't have sufficient training or skills to effectively run the restaurant
The “Chef’s Feed Me” was brilliant! Exceptional panko fish soft tacos, wakame oysters & squid that literally melted in the mouth. Paired with a crisp dry Riesling on the shady sidewalk… absolute heaven!
Great Customer Service, amazing food, and music to fit the vibe.
A perfect location as well as an amazing area.
Worth checking out!
One upon a time, I would’ve given this place 5 stars. But now, I definitely wouldn’t. Headed here for a drink on a Saturday night - place was completely empty. Their signature fish bowls are now pre-mixes that are sickly sweet and hard to drink. The staff were unengaged and kind of rude - hard to believe they’d be rude to us when we were the only people in the joint. Had our one drink and left. Huge shame - it use to be a go-to for us on a Saturday night.
The drinks here are an absolute rip off. Came to happy hour for a 'signature fishbowl' thats recipe stated it had vodka, orange liqueur and blackberry liqueur only to be served a regular glass of lemonade with 1.5 shots of a premixed blue liquid. For 12 bucks I could have just bought a nice beer rather than an overglorified lemonade.
The fish wasn't fresh - I suspect that fish and scallops served were from frozen. First lot was sent back as it was like rubber - if the chefs had any integrity they would not have sent this out. Second attempt was more edible but still not great. Scallops were edible but mostly free of any flavour. Waiter was pleasant and helpful.
Amazing food and drinks!
Fantastic date night.
Tacos are amazing recommend having them.
Very fast service from the kitchen. Great presentation and excellent taste. A good range of beers and the music wasn’t too bad either! Would I recommend this place - yes definitely.
Popped in today for lunch for the fish which came highly recommended; was not disappointed!
Location is down near the foreshore as well which is fabulous. There is also a fabulous bar inside as well!
A strong recommend me!
Elevated booths with bench seats and they don’t have high chairs. I guess that means families aren’t welcomed.
Great tacos and fisherman's basket. Also situated on a busy street near the market so very easy to find
