Panko Chan reviews
37Good the first time round, so we returned for lunch the next day. But the second time, the ramen was cold and the waitress insisted that it was hot even though it clearly wasn't. The karaage chicken was also raw. The waitress took it back, promising us a new piece, but when she brought it out again it was the same piece put back together and so overcooked that it was dry. We asked her about this afterwards and she said that it was a new piece, they had just cut it open to check that it was cooked this time. And then she insisted that the first time around it actually wasn't raw at all. Overall, was just not a good experience feeling like we had to argue with the waitress just to get subpar food.
The Raman was delicious! Perfect on a cold Tassie day. The taiyaki is a must try for a sweet treat. So yummy! A cute little restaurant in a great location with great service.
Good service with variety of ramen noodles. We ordered Poke Bowl and Ramen. The food looks great. However, I feel that the rice and ramen lack flavour. Overall, still a nice place for hangout.
Very nice ramen. Regular, Vegetarian, and Vegan also available. Fun decor and they serve fish n chips.
Had a meal here on 26 Feb. Fish and chips was cooked well, but other than the well cooked panko style fish, it was quite bland.no tartare sauce, just literally fish and chips with salt sprinkled on top.
We also ordered a tonkotsu ramen.the chasu pork tasted like it was from the night before.didnt melt in your mouth and was quite chewy.the broth tasted like sesame oil, noodles were very chewy and im pretty sure.they forgot the tare. The soft boiled egg was the only thing with real flavour.
I assume due to the reviews, the food is better at night.but definitely not on during the day.
I drive here from hobart just to get their Karaage chicken. It's the best I've had anywhere in Tasmania. The staff are friendly and the vibe is very relaxed. I always feel good after being here. And so many GF options!
Nice food, nice people, kids love their ice-cream and Japanese lemonade. The door was open so we went in it was 1 hour before opening staff happy to serve the kids sweets.
Loved the salmon poke bowl. Plus give the renkon chips a crack. Different taste in a very good way.
For simply fish and chips this was the best you could have. Fish in panko crumbs was very crisp but still succulent. The chips were a mixture of renkon (lotus root), sweet potato and potato chips all crispy and flavoursome.
A pleasant surprise. Was visiting from another state and stumbled across this place. Delicious food and great service!
I’ve ordered the salmon poke bowl twice now and I just love how fresh and flavourful the dish is. I want to order other things because they sound amazing! But I just can’t. I gotta have the Poke Bowl.
Absolutely amazing food, ordered a bit of everything and it was all good. The dessert deep fried milk is crazy good. Definitely the best food in town
Vibrant fresh delicious poke bowl for lunch today, great selection of ingredients, highly recommend!
Love the food sooooo much. Such nice and delicious, especially fri chicken. The best chicken karaage in the world!
The freshest fish with your choice of batter, or garlic and ginger crumbs, or other options. Three differnt types of chips or a mixture. Very nice choices. This is a Japanese cafe style restaurant. I am told their soup is also very good.
Amazing food, such a wonderful combination of traditional Japanese methods and flavours with an Australian fish-and-chips bend thrown in. Absolutely will eat here again soon!
