Mountain Valley Wilderness Holidays reviews
22A peaceful & special place of remote wilderness amongst an amazing backdrop of mountains & forest. A unique private nature reserve where you can sit inside your cabin watching the local birdlife such as fairy wrens & kookaburra. A very special experience watching the tasmanian devil feed right infront of your cabin at night from food the owners had put out. Who needs a tv when you get to witness all this amazing entertainment! The owners Len was very informative & knowledgeable about the wildlife & ecosystem of Tasmania, we really enjoyed a guided walk down to the creek where we saw Platypus swimming up the water. There is no need to go anywhere as by just sitting here you feel really at home in your warm rustic cabin sat watching the wildlife. We will definitely be returning & it's great to see people protecting such precious wilderness & wildlife. It really is any nature lovers dream to stay here. Thanks for having us we will be back! Liam & Megan
What a sensational place! Located in a nature reserve, the cabins are surrounded by native wildlife and a beautiful river flows on the boundary of the site. Len, the owner is a dead set legend and a great guy. He's always ready to have a chat about anything Tasmania, wildlife and knows every hike within a 50km radius. There's so much to love about the place, especially the little touches like fresh firewood and kindling appearing on the balcony each day, putting out meat every night for the devils and doing daily platypus spotting down by the river. Can't wait to go back, especially when Len stocks the river with some thumping brown trout!
Words cannot describe enough how much I love this place. Len and Pat are really nice, and they went all the way to help us with anything. Len is very passionate with the surrounding nature, and you will be awed with his facts about the place (the eucalyptus tree, the cave, …).
Recommend time to come is September and the Autumn, when the place is not fully booked, and Len and Pat won’t be too busy taking care of tourist groups (so that they can take you for as much experience as possible)! This place had helped us to raise much more awareness and knowledge on the Tasmanian wildlife and nature.

Words cannot describe enough how much I love this place. Len and Pat are really nice, and they went all the way to help us with anything. Everything well organized, and it lies right at the start of penguin cradle trail (connecting to overland track).
What you can do here, is not just staying:
_See wild animals eating in front of your door at nights: devils, pademelons, quolls, possums, …
_See the cave, with glow worms
_See platypus

A remote getaway amongst a beautifully forested and serene area full of wildlife, especially pademelons, native hens, possums and birds. Unfortunately, didn't get to see the quolls or tassie devils but that's nature!
Need to take your own food.
What a place, where to start.
The owner and manager of the resort, Len, is one of the friendliest guys in Tassie. Len makes a real effort to show you what you want to see, and is always up for a good chat. He is very knowledgeable about Tasmania and it's wildlife/natural history.
The cabins are modest but very comfortable and have everything you need. Sitting by the fire with a glass of wine while Quolls/devils visit the garden is one of the highlights of our Tassie trip.
The property is brilliant, plenty of walks with lots of wildlife. During the day you can see pademelons, robins, platypus and nativehens.
If you're coming for photography, it can be a tad tough, but I managed decent photos of both Quolls and devils at night, you just need time and patience.
I highly recommend this place to any nature lover, and certainly anyone who is interested in seeing Quolls/devils - although remember there are no guarantees with wildlife. 2-3 nights is recommended. Make sure you bring enough food for your stay. Leven Gorge, nearby, is well worth visiting.
Wonderful off-grid and wildlife experience. Stayed 2 nights and saw platypuses, devils and quolls. Len is a very knowledgeable and friendly host. We would have stayed longer if we could.
An off the grid, wildlife gift to tasmania. We stayed two nights, and stayed up til 1: 30am to see the devils in the nature, but also got to spot platypus, glow worms, many pademelons, spotted tail quolls and possums. Facilities include kitchen, fireplace and bathroom. Len and Pat, the owners, are full of wisdom, and so happy to share knowledge. Loved it and would recommend!
This is the worst stay we have had in Tasmania. We were made to feel bad to be visiting from Launceston for a special occasion. It was like they know they are not worth what they charge. This is just one of several negative exchanges we had on check in.
In later discussions, we were told that previous sightings we had of devils on Maria Island were not true wild devils. Their opinion of wild devils are those coming to feed on planted meat in front of cabins. In saying that, we stayed two nights and saw no devils. The cabins are outdated and to top it off, the complementary chocolates were half missing and stale (even the ones we were topped up with) We do not recommend and would not return.
Not sure why this place is not more well known as it is the place to go if you want to see animals in their natural environment. We stayed two nights and saw quolls, Tasmanian devils, pademelon and possums from our cabin windows, it was amazing!
Fantastic cabins have everything you need bring own food if you want to see devils, spotted quolls, paddymelons then this is your place every night Len puts food out for them they come right to your door and there is also black bluff walk (very) hard going, 7hrs I would suggest being fairly fit when you do it but scenery worth the effort
I loved our stay here. Watching devils, quolls and even possums munching on the meat in front of our cabin was an amazing experience. Len loves a chat but he's so full of knowledge that you'll enjoy every minute of it!
The best wildlife experience you can get in Australia. Rustic cosy huts, with Devils, Quolls and cute Pademelons on your door step.
The glow worm tour was an unexpected highlight.
Len the host was lovely, very informative, made sure we got the best out of our stay.
Boutique cabin house child friendly with a
seperate kitchen and bathroom. Rugged mountains and enchanting valleys are here to feast your eyes and ears. An ethical interaction with wildlife - tasmania devils /pademelons. Glowworm tour is a spectacular. Strongly recommended to stay and will be back for sure!
What an amazing experience. This place is wildlife heaven. All credit to Len and his passion for the wilderness. The log cabins are beautiful and cosy with a lovely fire place and seeing so many quolls and devils was such a special moment. If I could, I would live here. Thank you Len!
Well, where do I start after such an awesome experience? Pam and Len, the owners, are the loveliest people I have ever met. The location is incredible. Scenery is breathtaking. The cabins are incredibly well appointed, warm and cosy, like a mountain chalet in the Alps. You have a beautiful fire, everything you need to cook delicious meals during your stay. They even have a laundry to use after a long day of wandering the bush or walking the Bluff Track. I love that it is remote and there is no service so you can actually cut off the from the world for a few days. I only stayed for two nights during a short solo two week trip to Tassie, however, I will be back again to stay for much longer. The experience is second to none. Being able to watch devils, quolls, pademelons, brushtail possums and more right outside your window is unbelievable. This place is incredibly special. If you visit, please take care and remember how special places like this are. I will add photos to this review once I return.
They're cabins in the wilderness. They're clean, warm, self contained with great atmosphere and a great host. They are not the Ritz but are exceptional value for what you pay and the Tasmanian wildlife encounters and nearby beautiful, natural bush environment encountered. Excellent and highly recommended.
Perfect spot to enjoy serene, peaceful nature and wildlife. Hosts were great, cabins were mint, nothing to complain about. Highly recommended.
Such a shame you HAVE to book for at least 2 nights so couples on a budget just can't afford to come. One night should be one of the options. That's ridiculous
Magical spot. If you have to see wild Tasmanian devils and spotted quolls then this is the place.
