Moorilla reviews
32We had an awesome experience at the Moorilla Winery Cellar Door with Josh. He was so lovely and knowledgeable, and he made us feel super spesh! Big thanks to him.
Awesome experience, maddy walked us through very elegantly and helpful! Great value for money too
I have had several wine tasting experiences in Australia and this by far is the worst one. There were 4 wines (2 whites and 2 reds) and a sparkling, and not one stood out. However, even more disappointing than the wine was the experience. There were three people who were leading the 'experience' for 5 groups with different people randomly coming in to basically say what the info sheet mentioned. For the first time, it felt that wine tasting was a utilitarian experince rather than a hedonic one. And you pay $15 for it. My advice would be to save your money and go to a better winery.
Nestled at a corner of MONA, this place has a very lovely, chill vibe. Add to that the fact that it’s only steps away from its very own vineyard (~2 hectares), and the view is lovely, that makes for an even more incredible experience. The icing on the cake, is that we had amazing service from Winnie, who taught us lots of little nuggets, both about the wines from Moorilla, but also from its sister winery, Domaine A. She was very affable and hospitable, and made us feel right at home.
Their wine tasting is an experience that cannot be missed if you happen to be at MONA!
: Visited MONA during our stay in Tasmania. Got a bit hungry walking pass the warm and bustling wine area outdoors just in front. Had some food from @moorillawinery Wine Bar to try.
This was an interesting experience, love the gallery & the wines, but the wine club left me puzzled & disappointed. The sparkling was delicious & I was super keen to join the wine club…. But couldn’t! Why? Well, you can only join during a specific windows in time.which wasn’t today. I would have loved leaving with a case, but I’m not waiting till June to join. That moment has gone.
Just amazing. MONA was just Devine but you must finish the evening at the wine bar! The wine was exquisite and the musicians and staff are brilliant! True artists, and you can tell the staff enjoy working there. Venue is beautiful and although we didn’t eat, the food looked amazing!
This is my 3rd trip to MONA and somehow I had not known previously that the food element to this place existed (maybe because it’s called a Wine Bar I might have thought it was a cellar door?). Anyway, this trip we got to go prior to visiting the museum and were extremely surprised by the food on offer.
This place is like fine dining without the pretentious people / restaurant which is okay by us. We had the oysters, God’s Mezze and the King Prawn Poke Bowl to share. The dishes were packed with flavour, super delicious and plentiful.
The staff were super friendly, the restaurant was very spacious and the food came out quickly. All pluses in our book.
Would definitely recommend you include it for your next trip to MONA.
Sunday arvo jazz with a glass of moorilla wine or moo beer on the lawn it dosnt get better than this especially after the thirsty work of viewing art at the MONA then late lunch at the Source fabbo
Big shout out to the delightfully friendly and basically wonderful German maitre d / bar manager. She was rare blend of true hospitality, intellect and beauty. Thank you for making my solo visit to MONA a highlight of my year so far?
Hugh was truely the blue and his crew too. This is my 5 star review because he made my day as it grew. Love you blue!
Went there for breakfast today
Food - Good
Ambiance - Good
Coffee - Good
Customer service and vibe from staff - poor
Place was almost empty and there were probably 5 to 6 staff and everyone was occupied keeping each other entertained instead of greeting customers. We walked in while employees were just at some tables and chitchatting - no one said hi or where to sit etc.it felt like they were doing us a favour by letting us walk in and order. That’s just how we felt, doesn’t necessarily mean that was their intention. It will be nice if staff pay a little more attention to customers than to each other.
My mother grew up on the property under the original owners, the Al Corsos. It's always nice to return and enjoy the beautiful range of wines. The Syrah, Sparkling Reisling and Sparkling Rose are
Stopped in for a wine tasing after having a look around Mona, the sommelier was very knowledgeable and has made me a raving fan for Tassie wines.
Food at the Source restaurant is superb. The use of a combination of unique and inventive ingredients provides a one off experience.
Wine tour guide was charming, knowledgeable and funny; definitely someone you want to drink with. Wine was delicious and generous. If you come to MONA, don't skip the wine tasting.
Awesome wines and customer service, move over Coonawarra and Margaret River - there Cabernet is brilliant!
Is there a better cellar door, museum package experience in OZ?
Well. Where do you start? Great ferry ride over. The art museum is just that. Don't be offended by it, it's different and eye opening! Then you have the grounds, the iron work, the steel that abounds. The winery and the restaurant! Oh. Don't forget the staff. Absolutely brilliant. The musicians are next level and know their craft. They are musicians! Another experience and worth every cent. Do yourself a favour and come to Mona. You will not be disappointed!
Best service I have ever received. My boyfriend and I did the wine tasting at Cellar Door and it was exceptional. The wine was delicious and the waitress who took care of us was informative, kind and witty. She made us feel very welcome and taught us so much about wine and MONA. I felt like I was having a conversation rather than just being fed information. She really made our day and we even bought a bottle of wine - which was so cheap as the wine tasting cost comes off the price of the wine. Big thanks to making our trip to Tassie so amazing.
Moorilla may be our favourite winery. We're usually predominantly red drinkers and we walked out with 6 wines, one being a Sauvignon because it was so different and interssting.
