Moores Hill Estate reviews
51 Lovely location in the picturesque Tamar Valley. They have an outstanding sparkling which I really recommend you try - it is very good.
What wasn't so crash hot was the the interaction during the wine tasting that we were there for. We were really keen to learn about the wines and what the vineyard is trying to do. Instead, we were just poured the wines, but not really given much of an ideal of what we were sampling. A bit of a shame when you are told that the Riesling is a 'Riesling-Riesling'. Sure.
Ironically, only as we were leaving I spied an A4 sheet that had the wines spelt out.
Also, lovely doggie)
An ok winery. It feels a bit generic. But it is a great for a place to have some food and wine with a nice view.
Beautiful winery where you can sit amidst the vineyards.lovely tasting boards which are great value.highly recommend the rose!
We came from Melbourne to visit Moores Hill vineyard and I highly recommend it, gorgeous place and Julian (the owner) was very helpful and friendly and passionate about wine. The wine tasting was great, his wines are amazing. I recommend the the Pinot Noir “Block 6”2016 and 2019.
The view from the balcony here is really nice. Though the day we visited it was raining so we chose the comfort of the sofa inside.
The wine tasting is less personal here, you are charged for a flight and select your wine from the list and it is delivered to your table with tasting notes. If you stop in here and have not eaten get the toasted cheese sandwich, it was amazing. The grazing platter (the people next to us had it) looks superb also. The wines were not so much to my taste but of course still mostly delicious.
Lovely. Delightful. Local and dare i say authentic.
Neatly situated by the side of the road - reasonable choice of foods & zesty dips & cheeses making up their platters with very nice wine tasting options. Between us we have enjoyed these fine wines (so far)
Delightful Sparkling Riesling - subtle (delicate sherbet-like) bubbles and i think hint of pear (yummy).
Traditional french-method Sparkling Blanc de blanc - fair flavoured, lean and elegant.
2020 Rose is a personal favourite with a slight hint of Turkish-delight (early sweetness which apparently fades away within a few months - not designed for long-term cellaring).
2019 Chardonnay - pretty cool (delicate) citrus & brioche flavours and we think a hint of butterscotch.
2019 Riesling - lovely, lovely and zesty! This is their signature wine and fair enough too!
2019 Pinot Noir - yes please with the notes of blackberry & maraschino. Subtle but no pushover - my absolute pick o’ the bunch. Huzzah!
Thank you - we shall return!
Very poor service. Pre booked a 14 person wine tasting. Arrived, staff were very disinterested, each person paid $10 for the wine tasting. Wines were placed on an A4 sheet of used (previously written on by past patrons) in front of us and we were left to our own. No descriptions, welcome or information provided. Everyone felt unwelcome and we all left promptly, some before finishing their tastings.
Disappointing experience. Promptly asked to pay $10 for tasting. I had to ask for the 4th tasting as this had been forgotten. There was no interest displayed in our party of 14. No information was offered about the wine. I asked about a whiskey list but was told “no” this did not exist. We departed without having bought anything.
5 star people 5 star wine.cannot recommend any higher.we are and will continue to be long term customers
Always friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Great place to enjoy some fantastic cold climate wines in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend
Went for a pre organised wine tasting - staff were not welcoming, didn’t provide any information on the winery or the wines dumped in front of us. Charged us each $10 and left us on our own. Everyone felt awkward and unwelcome and we all left as soon as possible.
Went there today for an organised wine tasting and received a cold welcome, no information about what was plonked in front of us and all 14 of us felt awkward and and left as soon as we could.
I wanted to buy one of the whiskey options but when asked if there was a price list was told “NO”
Would never recommend them to anyone, ever!
I guess they received their $10 per head upfront and that was all that mattered.
I love this place. Any time I want to indulge myself this is the place I choose. High quality wine and fine food produce goes into the platters. Highly recommended
Absolutely first class food & wine. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a taste of Tassie. Great service, thank you for a lovely day out.
Jenny was so helpful and the wine and food were delicious. Gorgeous views over the vineyard and valley.
Had a great first ever winery experience here! What lovely staff. Our host didn’t judge our lack of knowledge during our tasting visit, in fact she embraced it and gave us an amazing tasting session! She was knowledgeable, witty and personable. The wines themselves were delish! A couple at a table nearby had a platter of amazing looking food, and we were a little envious. I’m sure it was as good as it looked! Really enjoyed our wine tasting at Moore’s Hill winery - definitely recommend!
I’m allergic to alcohol and dairy but really enjoyed the mussel pate and salmon, and the companionship of the dog in the shop:)
Loved this little winery, enjoyed a beautiful sunset and a fresh clam winters afternoon. Matched with beautiful pinot noir and a delicious cheese platter. Simply Devine ️
Gorgeous spot and fantastic wines. We especially loved meeting Otto the wine dog. The only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is because the staff when we visited over Easter in April weren't overly friendly or keen to tell us much about the winery and the wines, which was a shame as we love all that stuff. Perhaps we should of been more persistent in asking through:)
Beautiful wines and scenery. Friendly staff, great anecdotes. Impressed that winery is fully solar powered!
