Mayfield Bay Conservation/Camping Area reviews
40Free camp with donations box. Lots of space as the camp is not clearly marked so you fit lots of people if everyone parks smartly. Still, get there earlier in busy times to make sure you get a spot and a nicer one. View was amazing, beach was next to the campsite wich was so good. Toilets were decent hybrids with toilet paper but no sanitary bin. One of the better free camps on the east coast.
Not much to do around apart from swimming, fishing and relaxing, but great spot for a few days of chilling or even overnight stay.
Free campsite with donation box.
Usually quite busy
Beautiful views over the water
Great camp spot clean toilets close to Swansea for water and supplies, beautiful beach for fishing and walking swimming if so desired.
Pulled up mid afternoon. Was filling up quickly. A beautiful spot right on the beach.loved it
Perfect location and great amenities - good flat camping spots, metres from the beach and a clean and well maintained composting toilet.
No fresh water or firewood and the ground is pretty hard, so you won’t get those tent pegs in with a hammer! Mostly caravans and campers and not a lot of nice tent sites.
The site is very popular and completely full by 1530, with some ‘ghost campers’ and long term stay in the best spots.
The beach is perfect and safe for swimming. Thirty minute drive to Swansea or Triabunna for supplies, so make sure you have everything you need.
We pulled in there today. We could have fitted in east IF the tents & small cars did not fill up the longer spots. Why do they do it. We left as we could not fit our Motorhome in. Very disappointed. Some people just don’t think of others?
Amazing place to stay. There is toilets but not shower. You can walk around, and have a great time. Try to be earlier so you find spot.
Lovely overnight park on the beach, good for caravans. Toilets on site and dogs allowed on leash
Amazing place to camp next to the beach. Can get busy over summer. Lovely walk to Mayfield Point and Little Christmas Island Reserve. Special bit of history also with the 3 arch bridge just a short walk from camp.
Amazing camping ground by the beach and an hour away from Hobart. Great place to enjoy the sunrise
Facilities were ok with drop loos, but no bbqs, terrible fishing spot. You'd stay if you had no other choice
We got lucky last nite and took the last spot up the hill beside the highway. The view was spectacular and the beach clean and pet friendly. No water supply or dump sites so has to be a self contained vehicle to park here.
There is a very basic toilet, 2 unisex and 1 cap index with ramp. There’s a flush and toilet roll but personally just bring disinfectant spray or wipe to clean the seat and you will be ok. No basin to clean your hands so bring alcogel too.
Other than that place is very handy, free and beautiful just take your rubbish and please DONATE! There’s donation box near the toilet stall. Be nice and donate so we can all enjoy free places like Mayfield.
Free camping spot! Clean and quite! Amazing view of the beach!
Unisex Toilets are pretty clean
A often busy and occupied favourite camp spot on the east coast of tassie, great beach with amazing water views, toilets here also.
My favourite campground on the east coast.
Clean toilets, dog friendly, sparkling white sands, soothing sounds of the waves and the three arch bridge is fun to explore.
Really liked this spot even though busy and close to road. Good walks and the three arch bridge.
Free/donation camp.
Plenty of spots to camp, but be early or you will most likely miss out, the locals love the spot.
Beautiful beach, public toilets are clean.
Short walk down the beach to explore the 3 tunnels the convicts made under the road
Nice spot! Lovely beach. Spoilt by Tasmanian National Parks who put a blanket fire ban still in place in March. 8c rain and fires not allowed! Absolute joke I'm all for for bans When Required. Camp fires are part of camping TNPS use some common sense and stop spoiling it for every one!
Maybe for the east coast this is nice but personally I didn't find it really good. Small campsite crowded with big campers who are taking 3 spots because they have set up for 3 weeks. Right next to the Highway (not too much noise at night). Clean toilets and you can walk to the beach. But won't complain too much as it is free (donation welcome)
