Left of Field, Camping Gardens reviews
48 Good points.nice walk to National Park, fire pots available, large grassy camp areas, platypus in the nearby river if you are lucky enough to spot them All perfectly fine if you are self sufficient and the weather is kind (in our case it wasn't and we needed facilities.
Bad points.only 2 unisex toilets for the whole park with no hot running water, 1 porta shower with outdoor drying and dressing area. Yes there is an outdoor bath but $45 to book for the priveledge! Open camp kitchen with no table and seating. At $40 a night powered site it's poor value.
We loved everything about our stay at Left of Field. Adrian, the owner, has injected so much spirit in to the place and has such awesome energy and local knowledge. The place is super quirky but we loved that. Good sized spots, fires available, clean toilets and good hot shower. Bar well stocked and awesome fire in bar area.
Loved the roaming chickens. Also saw Bilby, possums and other birds. The river close by is worth a visit and it’s location to national park is so convenient. Thanks Adrian, we loved every second spent and wish we could have stayed for longer!
Definatly put this park on your list of stays. Beautifull grounds, clean facilities and 4pm bar and live music. And don't forget the platypus. Thanks Mel & Adrian you made us all feel at home.
Had a great stay at left of field. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Great setting with a river a short walk away and the national park next to the camp. We were also provided with a sms showing what could be done in the local area which was really great.
Great spot, great facilities and great hosts! Walking distance to Russel Falls, nice stroll along the river, platypus spotting, fishing.well stocked bar. A big thumb up to Adrian and Mel. We loved it and we highly recommend this place!
Very green, helpful and accommodating staff. Quirky details amongst the gardens. The only downside is that with the work that is being done in some areas it looked a bit untidy. Overall pretty good!
Have never had a host that made us feel more at home! Plenty of room around the fire for a drink after exploring the amazing surrounds. Adrian will happily help with anything he can and the sites/facilities are perfect. We will definitely be back in the future!
Loved it. Slightly off-beat. Very friendly. Great amenities. Owners are lovely. There is live music and a bar on Friday nights!
Great spot to stay just outside of the National Park, great to be able to have a fire going during winter. Owners Mel and Adrian were so lovely and had the best suggestions of things to do and see in the area. Super clean facilities, friendly chickens roaming around. We'll definitely be back!
Left of Field was an amazing campsite, a highlight of our road trip around Tasmania. Adrian and Mel were so welcoming and helpful. Photos online do not do the property justice, as the site is constantly changing through Adrian’s amazing landscaping. The outdoor bath was an incredible experience, make sure to book it!
Large camping sites. Fire pits available. Friendly, easy going owners.
Very close to Mt Field National Park and the wonderful walks there.
A couple of things to be aware of.
There are only two camp toilets. This actually seemed to be fine with very short if any wait times. But the park was by no means full on our visit.
The showers are porta shower units and are really nice to use. But there is no roof outside the shower so if the weather is rainy, there is nowhere to keep clothes dry while showering. Some may find the open outdoor change area a little bit daunting.
Overall though we enjoyed our stay.
Awesome vibe! Owners are very friendly and hospitable and there is a fantastic community feel. The live music was dope and the fire made for a great spot to meet some friendly faces. Only two toilets had me worried with such large grounds but it honestly wasn't an issue.
Left of Field has a great concept and great potential but they need to master the basics first. Two showers and two toilets is not enough for an entire camp ground. Especially when the changing space for the shower is outdoors with nowhere to keep your towel or clothes dry on the rain.
As a single traveler they charge $15/person, which is cheap. Two people equates to $30 for the night, which is average caravan park prices in Tasmania and I would expect the solid and clean infrastructure to go with that. A car with three passengers using one site cost $45, which is seriously overpriced for the facilities provided.
I've stayed here twice, and as Adrian said last time - it's a bit left of field - it's in the name.
They've got everything you need, with lots of different sites be they powered or otherwise. It's quirky, it's fun, it's friendly. I'll stay again for sure.
We stayed here for 2 nights in our motorhome, coincidentally when Redmond was also playing music for their music festival. It was the most beautiful feeling to rock up to this campground with live music being played. The vibe is friendly, the owners are very hospitable and the quirkiness of this place is like no other. The amenities were extremely clean, we loved how clean the toilet was and the outdoor shower was amazing! It was so much fun discovering new things, we even cooked and ate in the communal kitchen all our meals as it was so nice to be amongst the trees. We booked an evening bath in their outdoor bathtub which even had a fire pit, the most relaxing way to end our trip here. Highly recommend anyone wanting a unique and different experience to visit this place. Note: there aren't many signs so it allows you to talk to your neighbour to find out where things are, which is so much fun! We absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely come back for a longer time to explore more walks and water holes. Thanks Adrian and Mel for creating this wonderful place!
Nicely set out gardens and camping spots. Amenities need attention. Only 2 toilets for whole Park and 1 shower near toilets, another shower on the other side of Park. Nowhere dry to change after shower - outdoor change room. Friendly owners. Free range chickens visited daily which was nice. Fire pots were great to sit around on the cold evenings. Very close to the National Park which is great for walks.
Quirky different only down side was the early rising resident a little noisy when you're on holiday, happy hour with a difference, yabbies from the ponds mmmm, but a great spot to explore from
Having spoken with the owners who said they didn't want a normal run of the mill caravan park, you can see that passion in every quirky aspect of this wondrous enterprise.
They are super friendly with no enquiry being to small, there are so many fun little items around the grounds that every walk through seems like a new adventure.
We based ourselves here for 4 days and it was perfect.
Stayed here for a week. The facilities are great and the owner is super accommodating. Really enjoyed the stay
Amazing campground! So cozy and cute, Adrian and Mel are just the most amazing hosts and have some much knowledge and advice about the area!
