Hungry Wombat Cafe reviews
57No WiFi, no power plugs in the dining room, I know it's good to connect with nature and disconnect with technology sometimes. But this is 2021 cmon. Lot of people work from remote even when travelling. Also, most expensive petrol in the whole island. Meh
Wouldn't waste your time stopping here. Waited to be served for 10 minutes while the staff were talking to Each other and drinking out of their water bottles then served someone who came in after me.so I just left. They can shove this place. Will never stop here again.
Definitely somewhere to stop for a bite to eat. The place was so busy when we arrived but every one of the staff were just so friendly and cheerful. A really delicious lunch just topped it off. Great job guys!
Located about halfway between Hobart and Strahan, so it's a great stopping point for stretching your legs. Lots of burger choices and other food. Good coffee. Clean toilet.
First time we visited we had a toasted sandwich that was so burnt it wasn't even edible. The second time we decided to stop we arrived 15 minutes before closing time and were rudely told that they were closed. And "don't believe everything you read on the internet" would not recommend at all would not feed their food to my dog. Would rather stop for a drink out of the Derwent river than stop at this place and support their behaviour.
Absolutely amazing little cafe with the most amazing food and fast service would stop again, I recommend if you drive past as you will not regret it:)
Coffee and cake ok but petrol at this place is unreasonably expensive even though theyr only 2 has from hobart. What a con. Get petrol in town then fill up at the self serve at Zeehan before you come back. And you can afford 2 stops for coffee and cake.
Excellent food, great outdoor eating area, large carpark. This is an insanely busy place for a town with a population of 23! Be prepared to wait a while when they're busy.
Unexpected little place and we stopped to give the kids a break from the winding roads but decided on an impromptu early lunch and im glad we did. Their burgers were amazing. Fresh ingredients and super tasty. Service was super fast too. Highly recommend this place as a lunch stop.
Our pit stop after hours from Cradle mountains abs water falls. Hot food abs drinks. Burgers are nice but every fillings is additional. All in all still nice place and food.
I ordered a sandwich from here and actually found two maggots in it. Disgusted I showed them to the owner and he grabbed my plate, squashed them and told me I was wrong and they were only pieces of the bread. I was completely horrified and disgusted by the experience and could not believe that the owner would hide it and say I was lying. I would highly recommend skipping this cafe and continuing to the next town
Stopped here on way to the west coast and was pleasantly suprised. I would say they are doing a smaller menu due to covid and not many tourists in area. But omg what they did was tasty, full of flavour and very much value for money. My husband loved that his gravy roll had chips under the meat, he usually has to do that himself.
You have to try the egg and bacon roll. It's the best roll I've ever had. My husband wanted to steal my one after he gobbled his
They're great! Friendly, amazingly fast and efficient, good quality - can't praise them enough. The best little road stop I've ever been to
Great food with the main menu offering some outstanding choices. Lunch specials excellent value with large portions the standard. Lovely views to the beach from some tables. Friendly staff and good service provided.
A great place to enjoy a break from driving, or to eat before or after a walk around Lake St Clair. Indoor and outdoor seating. Good range of burgers, snacks and souvenirs.
