Wonderful family owned winery with some pretty good wines and very picturesque surroundings.

The wines here are really good, no doubt about that. The customer service though is terrible. Brash and tactless. In fact the woman was so rude my husband walked out. But put up with it and get the wine. We did a tasting at cellar door- so cannot comment on food. This was in stark contrast to a couple of previous wineries we visited prior where the service AND wines were excellent.

Beautiful winery, the Pinot Noir is exquisite. Good food, the staff are very attentive and friendly.
Worth a visit!

Great food… had the entree of onion soufflé… but it was brought to table at same time as
my main… which was steak… and also excellent… but not at same time… very good potato’s as a side
Had to ask for a glass of wine a few times… had nearly finished by meal before it arrived… the 1 dessert we ordered did not arrive and we decided to forgo it… waiter also took serviettes away with side plates and we had to ask for more.
Was a bit cool at our table too.despite this the food was very good and staff very friendly… albeit slightly confused

Absolutely disappointed! Didn't even get to try any wines as the host was angry we were even there! Very very rude. We are here on holiday and our experience from this place was terrible. Customer service is not there forte and the woman on the counter needs a lesson on how to deal with people. Won't be recommending this place and won't be back!

I’D LIKE TO REVIEW THE COTTAGE OWNED BY THE WINERY.

We just loved, loved this divine Cottage. Rosemary, the owner has very stylish taste. It appeared there had not been many guests before us as everything looked like it was brand new! Everything was spotlessly clean & the arrival cheese platter added a lovely touch.

Enjoyed our morning cuppa in the garden each morning where we were taken right back to our wonderful holidays in country Italy & France! Right down to the lavender in the garden! Magic…

The fresh flowers inside from the cottage garden added the perfect personal touch. Unfortunately roses don’t grow well in hot & humid QLD!

We visited all the local weekend markets & bought some wonderful produce to cook up in our kitchen with views! We enjoyed a Long Lunch at Fat Pig Farm during our stay, went to the Geeveston Twilight Feast, dined at the Peppermint Bay Hotel, Woodbridge & were spoilt by a wonderful late lunch at Home Hill Winery across the road. The local bakery is phenomenal but sadly the General Store was closed for January holidays.

It was the most amazing place to have a wedding
The atmosphere was great and the bar service was the best
Highly recommended getting married there

Great experience wine tasting here. Best pinot we had in tassie and the vodka was a surprising treat too. Highly recommended to stop here and experience this award winning winery. Only Downfall is that we could take as much home with us we would have liked. Friendly and knowledgeable staff more than happy to talk through the wine tasting journey. Overall a great stop for is

This was our first stop on our winery tour and had a great experience! The guy at the bar was quite funny, he had a bit of dry humour which was always fun! The wines itself where delicious and we learnt a lot about the making process and other key parts to Home Hill’s wines and the surrounding winery! Overall a great experience! Has to be a 5/5 stars from me!

Great architecture. Went in for a wine tasting in the Huon Valley, we didn’t have a booking but they made space for us to try their list of wines (their restaurant was fully booked so I recommend calling ahead to reserve a table for lunch). After that we both had a tasty glass of Pinot Noir outside in the sun overlooking the green hills which surrounded us.

I attended my nephew's wedding at Homehill Winery and it was a disappointing experience. There were so many things that were overlooked by the staff but before putting any blame on them, the staff are a reflection of the culture and work ethics of the owners of the venue.
The day started with entering the venue and realising some guests were not on the right tables as well as extra table settings left on tables with no name to them and no chair. Obviously with no time left, thinking that the bridal party was about to arrive a couple of us took it upon ourselves to rectify the problem. There was no communication regarding this from management and considering the bride and groom paid for a set up fee, this fell short of the standard you would expect from a wedding venue.
Throughout the night there was very little table service for drinks, which then meant the bar was busy with guest lined up like they would at a pub, just to get a drink. I ended up not having my glass of wine topped up throughout the whole night.
The venue was freezing and I had to ask to have the heaters to be turned on. There were small children and elderly who could not warm up.
The ceremony started late through no fault of the bridal party or venue but we still felt very rushed. I can appreciate that there is a deadline to stick to but it could have been handled with more grace. The owner Rosemary was nowhere to be seen to ensure that guests were comfortable but I felt we were being ignored given the circumstances.
As a wedding venue everything is pre done ready to start on time, so if the ceremony starts late then it should not disrupt the flow of the evening. It can be sped up but not as rushed as it was. I would expect that the staff have procedures in place to cater for unexpected situations and work in a suitable manner to overcome any problems that can arise, especially given that this is not their first wedding.
After the kitchen was hosed down and shut there was a big puddle of water which seeped onto the walkway to the toilets. I had to direct the guests away from the puddle and I could not find a staff member to notify. At 11.28pm the DJ announced we were to leave immediately as the bus was waiting and we were rushed out the door. Again the elderly were made to exit quickly whilst putting on their coats.
I would not recommend this venue for a wedding, but if you choose to, I highly suggest you micro manage everything and also watch out that your wedding cake doesn't get thrown out without your permission. Very disappointing

My husband and I got married at home hill and we had heard wonderful things about the venue, however, our experience was everything but wonderful. I had also sent an email to Rosemary, the owner to notify her of our dissatisfaction and have not gotten any response. I also saw her on Sunday as we had to pick up our things and she barely looked at me or said hello.

During the preparations, communication and organisation was very poor with the owner, Rosemary. I had to ask her multiple times about dietary requirements as she rarely replied and after providing her with a seating plan which she explicitly asked for, she didn’t use it and got the seating arrangement all wrong.

We arranged a wedding rehearsal a couple of days prior and Rosemary was unable to make it therefore Matt, the restaurant manager was there. There were specific requests that Rosemary wanted but none of this was communicated to us. Instead My father-in-law showed up the day before the wedding to drop off the wedding favours and had to rearrange the place cards and table names even though Rosemary had the seating plan as she had requested.

The day of the wedding the groomsmen arrived along with my husband's parents and the seating arrangements were completely wrong. The staff was told of this and did not do anything. Instead, I, the bride, received a phone call regarding seating half an hour before our wedding when I was very nervous and emotional as you can imagine on someone’s wedding day. My family ended up having to set up the tables according to the seating plan I had sent Rosemary weeks prior as she explicitly asked. This all happened even though we paid a "setup" fee.

Unfortunately, there was a bigger problem which was that my vehicle did not arrive to pick me up on the day of the wedding. This was out of my hands and added additional stress to everyone involved in the wedding especially me. She did not ask once what happened and rushed us out of the maxi taxi. During this delay, the groom and his groomsmen as well as guests and our grandparents were unable to get a drink of any kind, even water which I did not understand why. I feel during an unexpected delay a venue should be able to be flexible and adjust to this new situation. Providing beverages to guests, which was included in the package we purchased.

During the planning of the wedding, we had been offered table service or to leave wine at the tables. We chose table service as we had been to a wedding at Frogmore that provided this service, and it was excellent. However, on our wedding day our bridal party and many other tables had no drinks. Multiple people had to go up to the bar to get drinks and remind the staff to serve drinks. If this was unable to happen due to staffing we should have been informed and would have opted for wine to be left on the tables but this was not communicated at all.

Another disappointment was that our cake was served without letting anyone know. Had we been informed we could have asked our MC or DJ to make a quick announcement that cake was being put out. Not only did very few guests get to enjoy the cake, the staff threw out the cake that hadn’t been touched. The cake was purchased separate from the venue by us and should have been packed up for us to take home to enjoy.

We were very disappointed and saddened about this as it’s a beautiful venue but they are unable to adjust to change especially weather even though we live in Tasmania where there are 4 seasons in one day.

My Son and Daughter in law had their wedding here last weekend. The lack of attention to detail and non existence of table service and blaming us for their obvious mistakes was hugely disappointing. Guests were standing there and not a single drink in their hand or food until we complained. Table drink service was non existent. We complained multiple times! Even following the table seating arrangements seemed too difficult for staff and we were left to rearrange the seating properly. The setting is beautiful but the service was lacking. These frustrating mistakes did sour the special day. Communication from the venue was very sparce and the venue seemed to be under staffed. What should have been a joyous day fell a little short of what could have been if the venue truely valued our feelings. Even talking to the owner Rosemary face to face was quite difficult as she wasn't truely listening and was pushing her own agenda! Highly disappointing.

We had lunch at the Home Hill Winery today. I’m so glad we booked as we witnessed numerous people turned away. We arrived an hour early to experience wine tasting before a 3 course lunch. The meals were generous, delicious and wonderfully presented. The cost was very reasonable. I need to mention the service.possibly the best I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. If you are visiting Tasmania and want to take a loved one to a special restaurant, I recommend the Home Hill restaurant and winery.

I don't know about their wine and food, but was disappointed to find a no entry unless vaccinated sign on their door. Knowing that both vac and unvac can carry and catch the virus this position is discriminating and un Australian.

Sunday lunch, very busy noisy dining room due to poor acoustics and everyone is having a good time!
That is the only downside (noisy)
The food (I had lamb loin) was some of the best I have had. Beautiful with some additional veg which unfortunately you have to pay extra for. The great thing about Home Hill is that it is where they make Landslide Pinot Noir wine, a bloody gorgeous wine particularly with a sumptuous lamb loin with a precisely cooked pink centre.
Our party of six all thoroughly enjoyed their meals.so thanks again Home Hill for some lovely memories.

Overall the experience was mediocre. The place was very beautiful and the quality of food and wine was unparalleled. My steak was cooked as I wanted. The wine, Home Hill Estate Pinot, was one of the best ones I've ever tried. Hiwever, unfortunately the waitress were not friendly at all and ruined the good vibes. When she was serving the food on the table, she did it intensely that a piece of the vegetables in my dish was thrown out on the table.
