We come here everytime we are in Launceston from Sydney. Casual and classy wine bar with well thought out and beautifully produced food and snacks by the chef. It is definitely my top Lonny evening reccomendation

We hung out at Havilah a couple of times. Found the staff exceptional. The food exquisite. And the wine masterfully selected. Highly recommend a visit.

We had the pleasure of enjoying Havilah on a recent visit to Tasmania. Credit where credit is due it is a fabulous fitout with a passionate vibe. It is clearly evident that these owners love what they do & we were lucky enough to experience this. Exceptional wine list & a thoughtful well executed menu.
The wines Ricky produces under the Havilah label range from playful to excitingly refreshing - a welcome change to the traditional Tamar Valley styles.
His Pinot under Two Tonne label is exceptional.
This young winemaker is going places and wants to share the journey - one to watch.
Do yourself a favour and immerse yourself in their generous hospitality.

Very nice cocktails. In fact, probably the best we found in Launceston. Relaxed vibe, good service.

Discovered Havilah while researching places to eat in Launceston and was not disappointed. Beautifully designed restaurant with an extensive wine list and delicious menu. Would highly recommend booking and having the Chef's Menu dining experience. Service was fantastic.

Wine bar in a regional area punching well above their weight. Well thought-out menu and a heavenly rotating wine list. Well worth a visit even for a sneaky quick one!

Extensive range of wines and every item ordered from the à la carte menu tasted brilliant. Service was also friendly and fast. Just note that they don't take reservations unless you go with the set chefs menu but we didn't have an issue getting a table walking in.

Great little wine bar with a fantastic set menu for only $50 for a three course meal (plus appetisers). The owner has a great knowledge of wine and each visit is pure bliss.

Very intimate little wine bar.
Excellent selection of wines and knowledgeable staff to boot.

There is also food served here which looked really tasty, but we had just finished dinner elsewhere, but will make sure to try it next time.

If it’s a single glass of wine or a bottle and dinner, you’ll always be made to feel at home at HAVILAH. Choose something or go with the evenings wines specials, the only non-negotiable you MUST order the tripe cream Brie!

Place of minimalism, with interesting textures and materials to entice you to explore a light Cafe style menu.
Great wine knowledge

Great service and wine.
Make sure you book in advance small area and limited seating.

Would definitely go back. Gave great wine recommendations. The pork belly was some of the best I've tasted in Launceston. Every dish was well presented, seasoned and delicious. Fast service we had a set menu no dessert only cheese. But delicious and a great atmosphere. Open till late

It has taken a while to type a review on this wine bar however hopefully it might give some of you a perspective on the place as a local in Launceston for the past few years.

The idea of this wine bar is fantastic and the food menu executed by Ricky’s partner is phenomenal (the boar truffled salami, which they no long sell, comes to mind). However if one comes to judge this place as a wine bar, it leaves a lot to be desired.

When my partner and I first went to Havilla when it first opened, the product knowledge was extremely poor. Keep in mind that 20 minutes out of town, some fantastic wineries with food platters are easily accessible during the day (such as Tamar Ridge). The owner who produced the Two Tonne wine (Ziggurat) describes the tasting notes of his wine as “an average of wines in the Tamar” and his staff could not tell me any further about his product. Whilst his partner service was impeccable, his was not and we put it to teething problems.

When we arrived the second time, we noted that the menu had changed and the service had improved. However given the product delivery of the wine the first time, my partner and myself were not game to try Ricky’s product again.

Speaking to locals in the area, Ricky has a good products coming from his wineries and he is an award winner for a reason. However, it would be nice if he could bring his award winning products to his wine bar. If my partner and I were to judge his bar purely on the food, we would bring all our friends here.

However, if it was purely for the wine, I think you would do better elsewhere.

In summary, whilst a nice place to take your friends out on a big night after a few drinks, I would say “caveat emptor”. I’ve seen far better in this region and if only the owners could lift their game it would befit what they are trying to sell. It would be lovely to see them succeed and strive towards something that is worthy of their vision.

We had an excellent dinner at Havilah on Sunday evening. A delicious selection of small plates, bread, olives, charcuterie (exquisite fork it farm capocolla), polpette, heavenly french brie and refreshing fennel salad, all added up to a beautiful banquet. All this with Grenache pet-nat, Chenin blanc, syrah, a beautiful bar, gorgeous fit-out and warm hospitality results in a perfect night out. Love it, will be back, often.

It was a most enjoyable Sunday lunch and wine tasting at Havilah Wine Bar. Our hosts, Ricky Evans and Chanel Parratt, provided a stunning experience for our discerning palates. Ricky, young gun wine maker, presented six delightful Tasmanian wines from his Two Tonne range. Ricky specialises in creating superb wines from small parcel vineyards. Wines were accompanied by a fabulous charcuterie of cured meats, cheeses, polpetta (meat balls), fennel salad (loved by all), pickles and ferments. Perfect panna cotta concluded the feast. Ambience is enhanced by a one of a kind, pastel pink meat slicer. An enterprise such as Havilah is not created without considerable pain and effort. Our wine group hopes that, like its name, Havilah will continue to bring forth multiple delights for its patrons.
