Staff were very nice and friendly
Over all hotel was very smelly and dirty
I placed the toielt brush outside the room due to being so dirty
Room very small opened the curtains to see a brick wall
Needs an update and a good paint through out
Our room smelt like chinese food as did the whole motel
Great location.please spend the money needed to update the hotel
I will not be back

A budget hotel in every sense. Obviously saving themselves money by not cleaning rooms or hallways. The bathroom had a stench coming up from the floor and basin drains that was unbearable. I guess the plus is price, location and friendly staff, but if you don’t want to sleep in filth look elsewhere.

You pay for what you get. Noisy, banging doors on my floor and downstairs, heating not great, second night full on domestic argument with 3rd party in and out of the property. Moved to another hotel but property owner wouldn't refund for 1 night. Manager and team were supportive and did their best. Boiled down to money in the end. Lesson learnt.

Hotel is located about 5 mins walk from most of the shops. It's relatively clean, but definitely a very budget hotel.

No lifts, so you must be comfortable carrying your luggage up 1-2 floors yourself. The rooms have no insulation, so absolutely freezing unless you run the heater all night long. There's absolutely no sound proofing, so if you're there on a weekend, you can hear every person coming and going, slamming doors, conversations and TV all night long. This was particularly bad on the weekends when the drunken people come back at 2am and you can't even complain to staff for help. The reception is not manned after about 9pm until the next day. Basically the people running the restaurant on the ground floor also runs the hotel. If there are issues you can call a mobile number, but there is no one on site to help deal with issues or complaints. But they are really helpful when they are around.

The rooms don't get serviced or cleaned the entire time you are there. They are relatively clean rooms, but not laid out well. You can only have the TV on, or the heater on, as there is only one plug within reach of both appliances. Shower doors leak, exhaust fan doesn't work.

With all that said, it's a good location. If you're only after a place to sleep and nothing else, it's probably OK. If you're after a comfortable hotel experience, this is not the place.

The room was small and bathroom mouldy and not clean.
Very noisy and would not recommend!

Hotel is in a central location. There is no lift and the hotel is a little old, but the rooms were clean and comfortable. Would happily stay here again.

Good central location, however bathroom needed a massive clean! Mould and scum build up in sink, toilet and shower. The entire unit was tiled and clearly had NOT been mopped within months. Maybe a quick sweep over of the floor before our check-in, but definitely NOT vacuumed!

Someone's old drink bottle remains in the kitchen pantry, while previous occupants' shampoo and conditioner bottles are proudly displayed in the mess of a shower.

Aircon makes loud noise the whole time it's on, making it very hard to sleep at night. Be prepared for a noisy stay, with zero sound insulation in an old building. No disability access, lots of stairs.

A complete waste of $600 for 3 nights. Also heard other customers complaining about similar issues during our stay.

Very noisy, banging doors, loud guests, no sound proofing in rooms at all, 9pm to 1am yelling in their room, locked out after early morning walk, door access code didn't work and no answer on phone, only good thing was the bed, very comfy. It's a shame, good location, has potential. Could be cleaner.

I stayed 2 nights, it's comfortable. A couple of very minor maintenance issues which I reported but didn't affect my stay. The location is great, it's also combined with a Chinese restaurant at ground level. There is a pin entry after hours per room for security. There is free WiFi too.

Comfortable and good location. Bathroom a good size. Minimal toiletries provided. Kettle and tea/coffee available plus small fridge. Good for a short stay. No elevator and rooms up at least two flights of stairs. Needed a dust.

Good clean facilities for the budget conscious, if you don't want a backpackers or shared bathroom.
Basic facilities in room, small fridge, tea/coffee making, clean towels and linen. Extra blankets and pillows in wardrobe, with plenty of storage room.
Room itself was small but nonetheless comfortable for the two of us.
Functional R/C Heat pump.
We had two single beds that were comfortable enough but bases were outdated and starting to sag BUT the mattresses were pillow topped.

Bathroom is fairly compact but functional. Shower recess is excellent for tall people, I'm 7ft 2in and I was able to adjust the shower rose to a height where I could water the too of my head without any bending.
Shower door is a bit dicky but it works. Shower gel, small soap bars and hand soap provided, no shampoo, etc.
Good brand, soft toilet paper.
No hair dryer.

Located in heart of city on a main road, yet there was no traffic/road noise; much due to excellent choice in baffled window system (can't open windows).

Within 5-10 min walk from Elizabeth Street Mall, with Meyer and Target, etc.
Within 15 min walk of waterfront and Salamanca Market.

Located above a Chinese restaurant/take away, directly across the road from an Indian Curry house, within 30mtrs of the Shamrock Hotel and other numerous and affordable dining venues throughout the area.

Staff were friendly, approachable and very helpful.
I would definitely stay here again.
$180 for 2 nights twin share.

Would never recommend a room here!
Windows won't open and you'd stuff to death, not clean enough and had a drink bottle in my room when I arrived. Not sure why the don't really care people are so loud in the night.

It was disappointing. Pictures made the room look bigger than it was, windows don't open, so felt claustrophobic, stains on mattress, better cleaning needed. Redeeming factors were the free wifi, friendly staff and close to the CBD.
I would not recommend

I was staying in Harrington 102 in the first week of January 2018. Amazing location. Friendly staff. Forgot my laptop charger at hotel. The hotel staff got it delivered to my hotel in Sydney in very less time.

I recently stayed at Harrington's 102 and am sorry I didn't read the reviews first. Whilst the staff were very helpful and carried my suitcase up and down the 38 stairs for me due to the fact that there is no lift and I have mobility issues, the room was a complete disaster. It was not serviced in the 5 nights I stayed there and the tea tray is a nightmare. Do NOT use the tea bags as they are uncovered and mine had been there so long that they'd turned brown. I must say though, the bed was very comfortable but I wish someone had come in and made it up for me each day. The tiny scrap of soap is useless, use the shampoo as a body wash instead and the toilet paper is wafer thin. The poor shower has also seen better days. The only redeeming factor is that the hotel is close to the CBD and the hop on/off bus. I would love to return to Hobart but would look at other accommodation, Travelodge is nearby.

Filthy bathroom, no window so the small room was claustrophobic, not serviced. For a little extra could have stayed elsewhere. Wouldn’t recommend

It's reasonable for the price and is relatively close to most of Hobart tourist areas. The rooms are small and noisy during kitchen service, but you're not paying fortunes to stay here. It's definitely not a five star accommodation, but if you're a student or travelling on a budget then it's perfect! There's also a restaurant as part of the hotel which is allegedly quite well reviewed, they do Japanese food and I believe the place is owned and run by local Japanese residents.

The location is excellent. Rooms are compact and clean. No sound dampening like carpets or rugs made it noisey. Cheap and cheerfull

Fair price for the central location, close to Salamanca markets (5min walk) and close to car rentals where we picked up and continued our trip the next day.

The rooms are basic, smallish, but you know its a good price and it’s not a fancy hotel so you manage. The bathroom was clean and no issues for us there.

No lifts, FYI if that’s something you need.

Beds were comfortable and the tv worked, so I have no complaints as I got a decent price for it.
