Grinners Dive Bar

Was highly recommended by the rum bar next door, Rude Boy. Not just them by ur by a few bartenders I’ve met around Hobart too.

When bartenders are raving about this place, you know this place has to be good.

Truth be told, I love my tacos and Mezcal. Hence, my picks below.

Mexican Jewel - Such a well thought through and creative cocktail that came with a grapefruit toffee.

Battered Flathead Taco - Proper tacos house made, not store bought. Crispy battered fish with a light and tasty dressing/garnish. Loved it!

Los Agaves Green Label Mezcal - Was checking out the various Mezcal bottles and noticed this gem. Hard to source, strong in flavour. Think of chilli, lime and liquorice.

One of the best Mexican meals I’ve ever had, it was so authentic I expected to be abducted off the street by a Mexican cartel. A couple of Margaritas in and the cauliflower dish followed by a great pulled pork nachos and I wouldn’t have cared if I was.

Fantastic food in tantalising portions to allow you to try a lot of different things.
Been here a few times and you have to try the Jalapeño poppers, they are awesome!
Highly recommend visiting here.
Also had a good range of tap beer and cocktails.
If you need to try more they have $5 tacos on Tuesdays, but happy to go anytime and it was super mellow on a Sunday evening.

Aggresive sraff on a power trip ready to get in your face and abuse within seconds.

I arrived fresh to Hobart and out getting a drink with mates. They purchased their pints before me and went outside. Going outside to join them, I was stopped by the doorman, who said no more drinks were allowed outside. Pointing out my friends, I asked if i was to just stay inside and drink alone. He jumped right into intimidate mode and said I shouldn't question him, swearing at me. These people shouldn't be in more powerful roles. Thank God their not. Aweful welcome to hobart.

Absolutely loved this place! Awesome food, great music, nice collection of spirits & top-notch service. Visited on a Tuesday and their $5 Tacos were superb, especially the Baja fish ones. An added plus is that the tacos are made using blue corn and they keep it simple, with none of that coleslaw BS going on. The Nashville chicken one was so-so but overall a fantastic experience and world definitely visit again!

Tuesday is the best day to go; makes it affordable. Tacos that are anywhere from $6-9 are all $5, all night on Tuesdays. They do great cocktails too and can work with allergies to make tasty ones that aren't on the menu. Really friendly staff! Give the halloumi taco a go.

Finally, we finished the invigilation of the exam. Let 's go to the Grinners Dive Bar in 132-134 Elizabeth St to relax and have fun. The music of the band there is very good. After that, we went to the audio-visual equipment supplier of Upstage Audio to look for equipment and planned to finalize it before the beginning of school.

Good tacos and atmosphere, hugely disappointed in the service however. When the waitress came by and asked us what we wanted to order, we asked if there were any specials. She told us $10 margaritas, awesome, so the 3 of us ordered 3 or 4 each over thr course of the meal. But then the bill came. $17 margaritas. When we queried it she said we must have misunderstood.she had apparently told us MONDAY nights they have $10 margaritas. We were there on a Tuesday. I have no idea why she thought it was relevant to tell us the special from the previous night and was just plain rude about the whole thing. A simple apology would have been enough for me to give a much better review. Really disappointing.

Best margarita I’ve had in a long time! Their food has really nice flavours though tacos could be bulked up a bit (more beans, cheese etc) to be more filling). Burrito bowl would be an awesome taco salad if they added a bunch of greens!

Wow I had 3 Jalapeno poppers at mid day and they were delicious. Except for on the way out about 5 hours later. The burn was something to behold!

Great food! My favourite margarita is the spicy watermelon margarita. It perfectly suits my taste! Pork belly tacos and market fish are great too. Sweet corn with cheese on top is so yum if you don't mind grabbing it with your hand and eating like a kitten lol staff are friendly and helpful. A variety of chilli sauces are available, feel free to add the chilli sauce and feel the burn on your tongue and lips

Very accomadating, even bringing a container with water for my chihuahua who is a emotional support dog.

Great little venue. Only thing better than the staff was the beer and food. Totally accommodating for a pregnant wife and 2yo

Was here for a networking event on Friday night! A busy bar with many groups but they also have some private corners for groups of 2-4 as well. Plenty of finger foods and many choices of drinks from ale, craft beers, cider to wine.

Cool vibe and great menu, although smells a lot like unwashed sticky floors. Great dive bar feel though and inventive cocktails on the menu

Great bar, nice atmosphere! We enjoyed the cocktails here and also ordered the jalapeno poppers. Be warned (and this might be a silly thing to say), the poppers were very hot! (We struggled.)
