We are staying in a chalet booked via air bnb, for the price its absolutely amazing, clean, cosy, great views, comfiest bed away from home we have EVER slept in, nice big fluffy towels, smart tv, well equipped kitchen with full oven/stove and breakfast provisions each day and serviced with fresh breakfast towels and rubbish taken out, we have paid double the price on airbnb and been left sorely dissapointed so we went for the cheaper option this time around and have had an amazing experience, nothing fancy but we are cosy and more than comfortable. Great stay

My husband and I spent a night here this past weekend for our first wedding anniversary. Overall it was a great place to stay. We stayed in the loft above reception. The room was very spacious and tidy, the shower & spa were great and the bed was comfy. We had decided to cook our own meal for tea rather than go out, however discovered the bbq on our little private balcony was out of gas. This was no worries at all - a quick phone call to staff and in no time there was a very friendly and polite gentleman knocking on our door with a new gas bottle. We had no other interactions with any staff whilst there and didn’t order breakfast for the morning (although only because we forgot to by the 9pm cut off) so I can’t comment on either of those things. If I was going to make any recommendations it would be to better maintain the property - there seemed to be a lot of junk and rubbish laying around and floating in the little pond. And at least one more glass in the room is definitely needed! We were mixing our own drinks for the evening and had to take turns using the one appropriate glass provided.

Love it here
Easy walk to Risby Cove for dinner
Not far to walk to World Heritage Cruises
Enjoyed the coffee, biscuits, cereal etc
Nice view, good towels, dreamy sheets
It’s all good!

After reading past reviews we expected something better than what we had. We had a ground floor suite at the end of the complex and paid around $160/night.

Pros: Well located. Reasonably clean. Fridge. Good bed and TV/DVD player. Plenty of hot water. Snacky breakfast stuff.
Cons: Bathroom mouldy. Shower head needed replacing. Toilet suite wobbly pulling off wall. No air-conditioning. Two electric heaters in cluttered rooms were a worry.
Summary: Strahan is an out of the way Tassie West Coast Wilderness village and so expect overpriced services taking advantage of the monopolistic food and accommodation situation that exists there. Locals are friendly enough and the town is exposed to wild weather and is ruggedly beautiful. It also has an amazing history. We were lucky as we had a couple of days of great weather and walked everywhere. The town felt safe and welcoming. Well worth visiting. The Wilderness Cruise was fantastic!

We booked "The Loft' for one night as part of a tour around Tasmania. First impressions were not great. The steps to The Loft passed an area which was littered with piles of detritus, furniture and personal belonging strewn outside what presumably was one of the accommodation rooms, further litter in the form of an empty drink bottle was visible under the staircase.
The building is clearly not new, or of particularly modern style but it was at least large and quite bright with a nice view from the balcony towards the water. Equipped with a large bed, a small area with microwave etc and a bathroom with whirlpool bath it was at least comfortable. Generally clean but some of the grout in the bathroom is in need of renewing.
Our initial impressions were reinforced by the sights of further litter in the form of empty plastic bottles and boxes lying around the grounds. Reception was not open at all during our visit but a peer through the window revealed an office cluttered and messy.
Overall an OK stay but a place clearly in need of a little tlc and attention to detail. It would take no effort at all to clear away the litter and this would make a big difference to the overall feel of the place.
Will look elsewhere if we return to the area.

Great location and surroundings, but, unfortunately, very unkempt. It looked like it was nice some 5-6 years ago, but not anymore. At the reception (which was in a total mess) we found a dead mouse. The water in the ponds was dirty. The air in the room was stale, the bathroom had mould depositions and the WC seat was unsteady.

We loved the view of the room! The room was clean and tidy, the beds were comfortable. They also have free laundry.

Nice enough place to stay, could do with a little refresh and visitors need to be aware it is a 20 minutes walk from the main tourist attractions and town centre. Good views from the rooms!

Super cute A-frame chalet with a great view. Excellent organisation and communication from the owners too. Would definitely book again when we come back.

Whilst the views are lovely, our room (my sister and I) was very average and a bit disappointing.
A lot of dust covering everything, and some mould in the shower recess.
The windows were dirty and fly screens very dusty.
And the carpet needed a good clean.
I had to wipe the rubbish bin lid with antibacterial wipes as there was bits of old dried food on the lid.
Towels/linen were good, clean and like new, and beds were comfortable.
We got up in the morning to have a cup of tea, to find no tea, only coffee in both tea and coffee containers.
3 times we went to reception over the 2 days we were there, but no one there

You won’t regret booking one of these chalets. They are so comfortable and the staff go out of their way to make your time there special.

My favourite things about Gateway to the Gordon were
The basket of goodies and breakfast options.
Two bath mats!
Hot shower with great pressure and good shower heads.
Good quality and supply of toiletries.
Fabulous view.
Free guest laundry.
Smart TV.
Friendly kitties.

Very much an unorganised retreat. Reception was messy and obviously a part of the house. The room stunk and windows were dirty. Originally would have been top motch but not now.

Our stay was nice and all staff were lovely. The breakfast hamper was a great touch. Good views.

However.we were not advised of the construction that was occurring in the 3 rooms surrounding ours so we had to try and be out for most of the afternoon to avoid the noise. Reception and the guest laundry had rubbish and random items stacked/piled everywhere. Needed a good tidy. Basin sink was also cracked.

Good sized rooms with amazing views. Enough parking spaces.
As ours was late check in (8pm), the rooms were kept with 1 ltr milk and cereals for breakfast as complimentary, Very thoughtful staff. They have complimentary laundry available.
Kids can enjoy trampoline and nicely maintained garden. Very friendly staff, they called us after we checkout that we forgot our stuff in the room.

Near by places:

Wilderness train is at 4 mins drive. Must visit place.

Only IGA available close by but gets closed at 7 pm.
Nice esplanade with food and drink options. Mostly closed by 8ish.
