Empire Hotel Deloraine reviews
40Never had kangaroo on risotto before… quite the accomplishment of combined dishes. Lovely flavours and atmosphere as well. The art work, fireplaces and walls aesthetics were delightful and added the experience nicely. Lovely and friendly staff, and a nice bar with lots of options. Highly recommend you visit here soon for dinner or just a few drinks by the fire!
Great service and a really good meal! The menu was fabulous. This will definitely be a regular stop, can't recommend enough.
Celebrating my husband's 80th birthday tonight we couldn't have been happier. The service, the food, the friendly staff could not be faulted - it was a perfect experience?
Great hotel experience. Family friendly. Great amenities. Off street parking. Amazing food. Great serve yourself continental breakfast friendly atmosphere.
Had a great night here. Food was really really good. After eating we were riveted by the Celtic music played by locals jamming in the main bar. Awesome night.
I was showing my friend the quaint picturesque town that is Deloraine and somebody mentioned platypus tours. We joined a tour spontaneously which Mark was giving. He has a wealth of knowledge about platypuses behaviour, environment and anatomy. We got to see one through binoculars dipping and diving. Highly recommend this tour.
Lovely bike-friendly accommodation. Very clean and nicely styled. Worth popping downstairs to enjoy a meal! The owners were very friendly and helpful with planning the next leg of my journey.
This historical Hotel has beautifically bookended my bountiful travels within Tasmania.
Let me paint a picture.
Leaving from Judbury just near Noon, I headed for Oatlands. I planned to stay behind the old mill there as my good friends had suggested.
As it turned out, today's winds were still fairly strong at near 20 knots with gusts still reaching 40. Myself and my van are not built for such wild rides as I once was, especially now I actually give a rats about either killing someone else or having to have anyone else deal with the PTSD from any carnage I'd be wrapped within.
So the plan was simple: use wind.willyweather.com to ascertain where the winds were less severe and that turned out to be the highland lakes route.
As I'm not one to eagerly backtrack, I set a heading every half hour or so for a town I hadn't been to before. I came across and stopped at many, many intruiging and otherworldly beautiful places along this route and, as you'd have easily reckoned, arrived at Deloraine.
I really wanted a pie but figured a pint would suffice. I found the Empire Hotel.
I ordered a soy latte - because I'm a bit difficult in country towns haha, it was no issue. I bought a reusable cup and that made my first coffee free, so if I came back here another 5 times I'd have a coffee on the house.
Anyways, I still had to get that pint but figured I needed food in the belly first, so I saw about dining in. To my surprise - when ushered through to the dining room - I encountered Mr Brown, someone I've met before in Cygnet- after yet another random series of twists and turns and his partner.
At this point - after an action packed day of delivering myself in one piece to every destination with a vehicle weight imbalance intent on killing me and making some family's husband forever ruined with deep psychological damage or some such, I decided it'd be best I stay in town if possible.
I asked the ever so helpful and polite waitress if perhaps there was a room available - and - as my luck seems to have it - there was. Aptly named "The Monk's Room, " it's fit for a vanlifer such as myself. Part and parcel with such significance is a price that actually surprised me for such an establishment which housed and fed so many well to do clientele whom I had spotted already.
I've no idea what the other rooms entail - frankly I don't care. I can safely say that if room #6 is their "worst, " then this is the best pub/hotel I've so far encountered.
The town looks intruiging and I'd love to explore it, alas it's near midnight and I leave the island tomorrow. A train near this pub has delightfully reminded me of how far I've come since my council gardening days in Ipswich Qld, while "living the hashtagvanlife" in Rosewood.
Life is grande when you let it be so and this place, sitting at the long table in the common room only serves to drive that ideal home - home to my core - Tasmania is home to my heart.
I love Tasmania and I could not have wished for a better last night on her shores.
A Lovely couple run the Empire hotel, who are full of local knowledge. Dinner was excellent and the steak was cooked perfectly. The owner gives the option of taking guests on a platypus tour, just a short walk down the river - I got to see my first ever wild platypus! Very pleased. The room was a Great price for the shared facilities provided and the level of thought that has gone into the room layout and design. We would love to come again.
Stayed 4 days and it was good days.
Comfortable rooms, clean and tidy.
They offer Platypus tour, really interesting.
Thank you
We had a great stay here whilst hiking in the area (Meander Falls + Higgs Track) - the staff were really friendly and helpful, our room was spotlessly clean and the dinner we had was delicious! Steak cooked to perfection!
Great place! Lovely hospitality! Thank you so much for four great days at your place and for the enriching tour about the Platypus. Highly recommend. Thank you!
Exceptional service, delicious meals (especially the wallaby lasagne and sticky date pudding) and a solid range of beers. We’ll definitely be back!
Recently had the opportunity to stay in this boutique accommodation and It was charming! The room, the staff, the sitting room for all day tea and coffee not to mention the complimentary breakfast was all wonderful. I would highly recommend The Empire Hotel for both food and accommodation
Had lunch here on Sunday. Everything was superb: from the friendly greeting to the table near the fire to the tasty steak sandwich! I would definitely come back. Great value for money and nice atmosphere. Amazing staff.
Radiator was unusable as it constantly produced intolerable noise, and so we couldn't sleep comfortably even we did wrap ourselves up. Then, we got woken up early morning by trains, trucks and everything that passed the road - I can't recall we had ever stayed in a hotel with noise of that level. Worst of all, the only request I made at time of booking was to be allocated the quietest room (shortly after the hotel replied and indicated we would be given the quietest room) - not only was the request not entertained, we were given the noisiest room on a night when the hotel had almost all its rooms unoccupied.
Other than that, shared bathrooms were clean and not busy. Breakfast was basic with only yogurt, cereal and bread, juice, coffee and tea but sufficient and so it was a bonus.
Wonderful food that me and my family just ate here for dinner! I had the porterhouse steak with chips and salad and it was fantastic! Venue is also nicely furnished and clean I would highly recommend! Friendly staff too
Stayed here for the second time in two years, will always bunk down here for a couple of nights or three when in Tassie. Amazing historic hotel in a beautiful town. Great bar with large double sided fireplace, food is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Free platypus spotting walks in the early evenings. Rooms are very well kept, clean and very reasonably priced. Would give 5 stars but for the wifi, 1mb download is probably the only negative, but given the location with all the wilderness and historic towns you probably shouldn’t be on the internet anyway.
We ate dinner here after climbing Cradle
mountain. The staff were friendly and helpful and kindly lit the fire for us. Food was enjoyable also.
Would recommend!
Good food, but waitress missed the one request I had made. (I asked for any mayo or aioli on my wallaby burger to be served on the side, as I prefer my burger without, and it came on the burger. Wait staff seemed distracted when I ordered, didn't write anything down as they should have if remembering order nuances is tricky for them, and didn't offer to take it back when I pointed out the error.)
