Can not compliment the Edgewater Hotel enough. The staff are amazing and even after my husband lost our room key, the gentleman cheerfully came to our rescue at 10pm. That was our first stay, we were there for 3 nights and explored Cradle Mountain and Devonport from there. We had booked again for our last night before getting on the morning sail of the Spirit of Tasmania. On check in we received a wonderful surprise, the ladies who do the cleaning had found my anklet which I thought I had lost at our next location. The woman who checked us out on the 3rd was so lovely as was the woman who checked us in on the 31st. The location is perfect for the Spirit and to explore the area for a few days, very reasonable rates. The rooms are spotless, the cleaning ladies do an amazing job and are so cheerful. When we return to Tasmania we will be staying there again. Thanks Edgewater.

Fans in bathroom was very noisy. Disappointed that Hotel not open for meals and drinks on weekends, it would be worth your while to open as the Motel is always fully booked!

We checked in night once we landed from the spirit of tasmania ship, it is walkable.

There was no people to guide but the procedures were self explanatory. Had a hassle free stay

Great staff, really friendly. My room/suite was really nice, spacious and very clean. The location is amazing. I'd love to see a Microwave in the room, it can be a cheap one, I'd also like to see new shower heads, the one I experienced was multi directional lol, in that it kind of sprayed in multiple areas. Other than that I do recommend this Hotel, please give it a try fellow traveller's.

The rooms are spacious and very clean, close to parks, supermarket and Spirit of Tasmania terminal. We visited in Dec 2022.

Clean rooms, extremely friendly staff, very comfortable, lots of parking, they have a bar and it's only a few minutes drive from the Spirit of Tasmania.

They don't answer their phone. We were in Port Arthur, we'd booked a room weeks prior and needed to stay in Devonport before sailing out the next morning. In the days leading up to our stay at edgewater it became apparent we wouldn't be able to check in until well after reception closes, all we needed to know is if that would be ok and where to find the key to our room. The day before we tried contacting the hotel, one phone number was disconnected, another we found kept ringing out. No answer. No response via facebook, our messages are still unread. The next day no less than 30 attempts at calling them all failed, still no response from facebook. A hotel with an unresponsive reception? We were getting desperate for a place to stay at this point, most places in Devonport were booked out over easter. Looking at their previous reviews one person in particular was experiencing the same issue we were, completely unable to contact anyone for check in. Fearful we would arrive to meet the same fate we were forced to find alternative accomodation lest we be sleeping in the car on a cold Devonport night, fortunately we got lucky with another place to stay nearby. Edgewater still tried to charge us for a nights stay regardless of their incompetence, according to our bank. Able enough to charge for the stay, not able to pick up a phone? Has to be some sort of scam.

The day after our stay was supposed to occur, after we'd found another place and spent the night, after we'd boarded our boat and were no longer in the state, we got an email through agoda from edgewater hotel telling us they won't charge us (after they tried and failed), and providing details of where our keys would be and a phone number to call. So to be fair they did end up helping us with our problem, timing could do with a little work though.

Clean and tidy people so friendly, only thing is you can't have food at the bar or restaurant, just uber in.

Handy place to stay if you are catching Spirit of Tasmania or have arrived late at night. Clean and comfy bed. No pub or places to eat around.

Very basic room, very clean. Good hotel for just sleeping after travelling all day. No dining area or lounging.

What a joke! Having pre-booked and paid for a one night stay on trip.com I turned up at 7.45pm at the Edgewater Hotel. Reception was shut and locked with the lights off. I called the phone number on the website repeatedly; it rang out with no answer. I sent an email to the Edgewater Hotel's email address; no response. After walking around the building and finding the whole thing locked, shut and empty, I was forced to give up and go to another hotel to pay again and check in. Now I will have to try and recover my money from these jokers, as I have paid for nothing but inconvenience.

Update: I received correspondence from the Edgewater Hotel claiming that they were unable to send a text message or email to me to inform me of where the key had been left because my details had not been passed on by the booking agent. I spoke to the booking agent, who agreed to arrange a cancellation with the Edgewater Hotel so I could receive a refund. However, when my booking agent called the Edgewater Hotel, their management claimed they had sent information to me and refused to offer a cancellation; in direct contradiction to reality and their correspondence with me.

Both the agent and the Edgewater Hotel are blaming each other, so it looks like it will be a long road trying to get a refund from either. Save yourself the trouble and book at another Devonport hotel; there are plenty of more reliable and reputable businesses.

Big bed, nice view of waterfront. Toilet bathroom a bit smelly - urine although it looks clean.

Found out that it is the wrong place for us to stay over night when we arrive in Tasmania & when we are returning to the mainland. Prices are good.

Friendly and attentive staff, nice clean and well appointed rooms. We were well looked after during our stay at Edgewater. Our stay was part of government mandated quarantine, it has been a wonderful experience and more akin to a relaxing holiday.

From a hotel quarantine perspective it's great. Staff are lovely trying very hard. Food mostly very good some average meals but we have plenty of oppertunities to have excersise.

They were very thoughtful and let us check in even though we made a mistake with our booking and also arrived after hours. Good service and fare price:)

We booked months in advance, they called us 2 weeks before the date saying their booking system 'went into meltdown' and they took too many bookings (couldn't even directly admit they double booked us). By this point everything else in Devonport was booked out

Don't trust your booking here, they'll bump you if they fill up with better bookings (ie ones made directly on their website, where they get more $$). I don't think they understand the meaning of the word 'reservation'
