This is not a four star resort. Lucky if it’s worth three stars on a good day. Very tired rooms and not very clean. Shower was disgusting and we couldn’t wait to leave. Totally overpriced

What an incredible place… literally on the beach! Views incredible!

We couldn’t find someone to check in at 4pm as we wandered around for nearly 20mins, even rang the office number and left a message.

Food really lovely … we had dinner here too… no breakfast available.

Free laundry available (bonus) $3 powder sachets from reception.

Penguin tours each night are meant to come as part of the package…. But this is a bit of a con… we waited on the platform at the bottom of the property for nearly an hour… it’s pure luck if they choose to come or not… this is why we booked here… and another family tried to let the owner’s (Mother?) know it was misrepresented in the property info…. Just as we were there checking out …only to be shouted at, not listened to, and told to take it up with her lawyers. I was not game to mention the light that flickered on and off all night for the downstairs room, but I did mention we felt the same and that was why we booked here. Her husband was sick, her daughter was coming back from Brisbane…. She did not listen to what the other guest was saying at all! The point is… do NOT expect to see penguins here… you will need to book a ‘proper’ penguin tour… which is what both the other family and ours would have appreciated knowing!

TV & WiFi… also a little pool.

We saw kangaroos in the paddock next door too which was fun!
Overall… a nice albeit expensive place to come.

Could not recommend this place more. So family friendly. Staff were so nice! Rooms were fantastic. Private beach.

Beautiful place. The staff were really great, the rooms were very good.
The only minus was that the cabins had the bedrooms upstairs and the toilet downstairs.
On the plus side, the Little Penguins were literally all over the place in the evenings.
We had a great time and would visit again.

Location great! Staff great, beach awesome! Rooms and grounds need some upkeep looking like they've had no care given for a while
Don't book local town penguin tour $$$ go up to Lillico penguin viewing platform for free near Devonport

Disappointed - you don't get to see the Penguins - locked out from the beach - not advised otherwise would have got tickets to see parade. NO HAPPY. People running the place are rude. Won't be back that's for sure.

Worth coming for the view from upstairs studio apartments, ability to walk across to Diamond Island during low tide, penguin viewing where we saw about 8 penguins (normally ~$60 if you do organised your, which from what I am told you see more and proper seating area), Korean food is there speciality due to their Korean chef, amazing service from the Japanese waitress Yuki (may have miss spelt name), as well as ocean views from the restaurant.

They do have a free BBQ area, and a pool (not heated).

The rooms are comfortable and clean. The location next to the beach is perfect. Our kids loved running around in the grassy hill and playing pool. The staff were super helpful when our daughter was sick and sent her forgotten stuffed toy home express post. Those little things make a huge difference.

Good and bad like most places, service was so so, outdated furniture, very firm and uncomfortable pillows but the bathroom was modern and quite nice, loved the huge shower head & enjoying a hot spa bath despite a couple of the jets not working. The room was also pretty spacious for two people. Did not see a single penguin on the property, even during the ‘tour’ but lots of other wildlife which was nice. The view of the beach/ocean from the room was amazing and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean topped it. Would stay again. Would not stay if you need a soft pillow or deadset on seeing penguins for free.

First time staying at Diamond Island Resort. We had a 2 bedroom room. This was laid out as a kitchen, shower/toilet and living area downstairs, beds in an upstairs loft arrangement with a double bed in a room and 2 single beds outside the room but not in a room with a door. The double bed had 1 side against the wall as the room was quite narrow. Neither my partner or I wished to climb over the other during the night, so I slept in a single bed. In summer the loft gets very hot so be sure to keep blinds closed.

While the floor looked more recent, the remainder of the room looked somewhat tired. Given the rate of $360 per night I would expect a more modern decor.

Pool was good, plenty of BBQs to cook on free of charge. Easy access to a beach at the bottom of the property, but this will be closed off every evening for a private penguin show.

Pick of the rooms are the studios, some of which have been refreshed and the rate is 1 third that of the 2 bedroom rooms. If you need 2 bedrooms you will be better off with 2 studios.

Great room and the best shower head! The penguins come right up around the accommodation - we saw over 10!

The penguin adventure was awesome, event staff has a lot of knowledge about the local animals and were happy to answer any and all questions, seem heaps of penguins up close and watched them walk from the ocean to the nesting grounds.i highly recommend

Old rooms, poorly furnished. Couldn't see many penguins at night. Not worth the money we paid for. Better places available in Bicheno for same price.

Front of house staff were excellent. Check in was extremely smooth and easy. Happy hour was a bonus we did not expect.
Property could be kept a tad tidier as it wasn't attractive on arrival.
The room was great! Views to die for!

This is a beautiful place to say but the claim is penguin viewing! Unfortunately you don’t know you can’t access the beach to view the penguins and have to wait to view them if they venture onto the lawn well beyond the beach which is obscured by the undergrowth! VERY DISAPPOINTING!
