Derwent Estate Vineyard reviews
36 I visit every time I come home to Tassie. It has been amazing to see this small cellar door evolve into what it is today, and more exciting things to come with the expansion of facilities.
Special thanks to Kasey, who was exceptional with the tasting and giving us so much information on the history, the grapes, the winemaking process and everything in between. An absolute asset to the team at Derwent Estate Vineyard.
Thank you.
A fantastic venue with beautiful views and tasty food. Really enjoyed the wine tasting and the excellent, personable and friendly service from Sonia, highly recommended.
Great staff, great wine, amazing arancini and stunning view. An afternoon very well spent will return ️
Improvised a late tasting after with my partner after visiting the mona museum. We felt so welcome and had such a nice experience! The wines are amazing (we did a selection but all of them have been superb).
Special mention go to the staff that made the experience perfect.
We will come back for sure!
My sister and I brought my mum here for a birthday lunch and had a lovely time. We sat out on the verandah of the cottage that has been converted into the cafe and tasting rooms. Even in the middle of winter it was a beautiful day outside with the sunshine coming down and a spectacular view onto the river. We had very friendly down to earth service from a young woman who was extremely attentive. The food menu is small, but the food pairs very well with the wine options and there’s lots of local produce on the charcuterie board. $10 per person allows you to try all 11 of the wines that the vineyard are currently selling, which was very good value. This is not a fancy experience (such as you might get at Frogmore Creek) but a beautiful option for a casual weekend lunch.
These guys were very professional and knowledgeable. All 11 wines on cellar door tasting list were delightful- this experience was preferred to a few wineries in the Richmond region-
Enjoy:)
One of the best cellars doors we have been to. Beautiful setting, delicious wine and lovely friendly staff. Super glad we found this place, will be looking for theirs wines back home.and savouring the bottles we brought:)
Such an amazing vineyard.
Great wine, great location and fantastic platter food.
Wine at Derwent Estate is top notch and the view from the farm house is beautiful and relaxing.
Had a nice tour of the operation and the staff are super friendly.
Do yourself a favour and pay them a visit.
Of the 6-7 wineries I went to around Hobart this was my favorite. From the quality of the wine to the charm of sandy who worked in the cellar. 5/5 easy!
Great little winery and cozy cellar door with heaps of character. The place can fill up very quickly but it is heaps of fun listening to Angela and their passionate team run us through the wines. Small batch boutique wines, with their standout pinot gris not disappointing. Delicious, fruity and bright this will be my wine for the summer.
Great little surprise package and with a stop if you got the time and on your way to Agrarian kitchen up the road.
Can I just say Ange made our trip!
Sat down for some tastings, was greeted with humour and smiles.
Went through all wines on tastings and became a member.
I very much like how you can chop and change you order.
The property in currently getting renos and when done it's going to look cute and cosy.
Putin your list to visit.
We had just come from Stefans and the experience is completely different.
We drove past today and decided to spontaneously pop in. We had a fabulous tasting with Sandy and spent the afternoon on the deck enjoying the view with a glass of vino. Would highly recommend this cellar door, there is an abundance of history and passion at Derwent Estate.
Favourite winery of our Tassie trip. In fact we stopped in twice! So many palatable wines and a lovely cellar door. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. They sent back our wine collection as part of the Tassie dozen scheme and were very helpful with this process. Make this a must on your Tassie to do list
On our way back into Hobart from Mt Field National Park my group of four popped in for a tasting with Trevor. The tasting room is small but perfectly suited to our group size. Opens up onto a porch with a nice view of the water. They should hire a landscaper to clean up the place a bit but other than that our experience with the staff was great. Trevor was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and the whole process. Had great banter with our group. Sold us three bottles to take with us! Personally loved the Chardonnay and Rose. But many others were tasty as well. Even if you choose not to buy a bottle (which I’m sure you’ll end up doing) $5 is a steal of a deal for the flight of tasting.
One of the best Pinot Gris I've ever had. Highly recommend stopping by for a taste. Get into it. Great service also.
Good range of whites and nice Cab Merlot and Lime Kiln Pinot. Averages about $30 a bottle. Charming view of the Derwent river as well.
The house is from the 1830s and as a result the doorways are pretty low so make sure you duck if you’re above 6 foot.
Staff are very pleasant and waved the $5 tasting fee (though we also bought four bottles).
Close to Puddle Duck and a range of other wineries.
They’re planning some works on it so it’ll be shinier in the near future but right now it’s got a rustic charm and good wine.
