The Shed is the noisiest restaurant I have ever visited! A very attractive recreation of the original works shed, the timber floor, walls, ceiling and furniture result in an "echo chamber" with the noise of conversations and kitchen bouncing around relentlessly. The wooden chairs also uncomfortable.
The staff were great and service excellent but the food, our party of 4 agreed, was underwhelming.and and blue cheese

The Shed Restaurant is really lovely. The food is innovative, and tasty, and the wait staff friendly and helpful. I forgot to add how lovely the wine is too.

Very good and engaging wine tasting experience with really nice wines!

Would've been 5 stars but - on the website there is no information about the tasting fee. At the cellar door the staff does not inform the guests about the cost either.

Just a little disappointment that the tasting fee does not get waived with bottles purchase as it is at all surrounding vineyards.

We came here for my Dad's birthday this weekend gone and had a lovely lunch in the Shed. For such a small menu, there were plenty of vegan/dairy free options or alterations. The vegan main (radish fritter) was great and obvious that the kitchen had put effort into creating the dish (which cannot be said for everywhere).
We found it very noisy because it was a busy lunch sitting, but something to dampen the sound may make for a better dining experience. Also, the staff were sometimes difficult to get to the table (for example, to order more wine or get our water refilled). It was clear that this is because it was busy while we were there, so I don't think it was the individual staff's fault for this. That said, the interactions we did have with the staff were great - they were very friendly and professional.

Food was fantastic, well balanced and thought out menu. Wine, as expected was of a very high standard. Don't spread the word too far, we need this for us.
Venue a bit loud, something to absorb the noise would have made the experience even better, though I'm sure that will be sorted sometime in the near future.
Thank you so much for hosting my birthday lunch.

Very happy with my meal at Derwent Estate Restaurant and our waiter was absolutely lovely, he gave us really great tips about the wine to pick with our meal, very knowledgeable. I really recommend the small dish BBQ lamb ribs and the bread with beer butter! The fish was also delicious. This is a beautiful place lovely in summer and winter with a beautiful view. It is great for everyone as there is no a la carte mandatory which allows everyone to get what they want. Thank you for having us yesterday!

For locals or visitors, Derwent Estate and its restaurant offers a perfect weekend escape on the shores of the Derwent Valley.
It’s an operating vineyard, with an excellent selection of wines and a great tasting room, as well as a fantastic restaurant in the Shed.
The restaurant offers a small and very high quality menu, supported by a great wine list, and allows you to dine with views over the vineyard and the Derwent River. We even got to watch the black faced sheep and their lambs frolic in the vineyard close to the restaurant.
Plenty of accessible parking, great and attentive staff and comfortable and spacious seating. It’s popular, so you need to book!

Every mouthful was a flavour sensation. The chef even made silverbeet absolutely delicious.

We had lunch there today for our wedding anniversary. It was such a treat! The shed was beautiful. Food was absolutely amazing. Great wine options. Staff were really friendly. Plus the view, we were looking down the Derwent valley and river, with so many swans swimming there, feeding and playing, just pleasant. Definitely our new favourite place.
There is 10 %surcharge on weekends, as an additional note.

The wines are amazing. Didn’t find one I didn’t like. Jess made our experience amazing and she is so knowledgeable. You must visit this winery, you won’t be disappointed.

One of the best wineries we've been to! Visually it was like something out of a postcard - gorgeous rustic buildings and stunning views everywhere you looked. The staff were so friendly and gave us a wonderful and informative tasting experience, and the wines were incredible. The perfect place to spend a few hours!

First time for us eating at The Shed. One of the best dining experiences I have had in Tassie. The food was to die for - flavours, textures that created an orgasm in your mouth. The service was incredible. 6 out of 5 for me!

A most enjoyable day sipping, tasting and enjoying local charcuterie and gourmet grazing. I absolutely could have stayed a little longer and sipped a little more.my favourites though by far was the Pinot matched with the Blue Cheese and the Duck Pate matched with their Sparkling. Highly Recommend

Amazing staff, very friendly and knowledgeable, g8 menu, lovely outlook, wine tasting well worth it. Perhaps a few more homely meals included in menu eg. Hot soup, or slow cook stew which is what your want when it's freezing outside. Overall well worth visiting.

The wines were really quite amazing but the whole experience was something else. The lady who served us was nice, really nice. I can tell you all about her mum and a wedding proposal, oh and also about the soil composition and the wines but that part was well scripted. It took the best part of an afternoon for a single tasting.

Always been a great winery, now with a restaurant. New restaurant building is nice and has an open feel but still warm inside and great view. Food (and wine) was tremendous and service was faultless.

What a nice surprise! Popped in here for a wine tasting and stayed for a cheese platter and we were hosted by the wonderful Estelle. We even joined to wine mail order list. We’ll done

Visited Derwent Estate Vineyard recently along with a couple of others. What an excellent experience it was. Had also visited a few others but absolutely no comparison. The tastings just kept coming brought out to us by an incredibly informative young man that just made our day. Best tastings experience ever. Well done.

I went with a friend with a gift voucher from my son and daughter in law. Not been there before. Loved it. Rustic with so much history. We had a cheese, salmon and meat platter AND the most incredible Pinot Gris. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Photos on the walls inviting us to learn about the family. Left with a couple of bottles. Will definitely go back again. Thoroughly recommend it
