We never had the chance to visit due to unforseen circumstances. Keep in mind that the accommodation provider has an onerous no refund policy within one month of check-in, and there was no willingness to even provide credit to use at another time. If you require a basic level of flexibility in your travel plans I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Amazing accommodation and very relaxing. Only improvements would be some luxury handwash and some more towels as the open shower gets a bit of water around the bathroom.

Had a brilliant stay at Cradle Alpine Retreat! Shepherd was an awesome host that went out of his way to make our stay wonderful.
Each of the cabins we stayed in had plenty of appliances like kettle, gas cooktop, fridge, you name it, it was there!
Bed's had electric blankets, as well as thick warming blankets, beautiful duvet and crisp white linen. Also a reverse cycle air conditioner.
We woke up the morning after to a magic snowfall that make the place a true winter wonderland.
I would definitely come back here in a heartbeat!

Self contained accomodation. Most things you need to be self sufficient. Close enough for short drive to walks.

We stayed there for 1 night. The place was good, we saw potarmelons in the morning. The only thing was that it was difficult to find them and it was no internet to read their messages. It was a little issue with water but they fixed it pretty soon. The spa tab was perfect after upselling we did on that day.

This place was amazing, it was roomy, comfortable, great value, great location, and I LOVED that they supplied you with everything you could possibly need, including breakfast makings and stuff to make sandwiches and toast as well as the usual tea and coffee. Even bubble bath!
Another thing I really appreciated about this place when we went was that it was so close to nature, and the owners obviously care about the beautiful environment they're in, this place was fantastic.

What a great private and peaceful place. There are only 4 cottages in that complex and only 1 of them is a family cottage. So it's never crowdy. We were staying in that family cottage called Cradle cottage. Huge living area, big dining area, gigantic kitchen with all appliances. 2 bedrooms - 1 with 3 separate beds for the kids, another with private balcony for the patents. Bathroom with very big spa and shower. Satellite TV, boombox, portable Bluetooth speaker, heaps of board games for the kids and of course - a fireplace. On top of that there is a heat pump in the living area and a separate heater in parents bedroom. Even some basic supplies like tea, coffee, sugar and basic pantry needs are provided. The owners are real sweethearts and are soooo friendly. We even got complimentary free range eggs. The only thing is that it is located in a spot with Telstra reception only (and there is a dongle to boost your hotspot) otherwise if you are with another provider you are out of reception area. That's quite typical for Tassie though. Overall I'd say it's definitely a place to stay and relax. Plenty of wildlife around. Strongly recommend

No view from our chalet at all, only a view of a water tank and dug out 10 meter trench, noisy people next door on a joined chalet, no privacy, couldn't park car due to people next to us parking thier cars in the parking space provided. Ordered breakfast for 2 night stay, didn't get breakfast first morning. The restaurant you say is open 8-11am was not open untill 11am, had to drive to Cradle village to get breakfast only to be turned away due to not having availability to be seated. By this stage we had decided to book somewhere else where we could have the tranquil, quiet and relaxing time we were hoping to recieve. Thankyou for refunding our missing breakfast, the only positive to come from our experience. I think that someone needs to be on site 24/7 to eliminate majority of the issues above.

We have stayed at the Cradle Cottage twice now and highly recommend it! Set in Moina which is only a short 20 minute drive from Cradle Mountain, this beautiful timber line cottage has everything you could want. Cosy woodfire, comfortable beds, large dining area and kitchen + all the required tools & equipment provided. It's 5 stars from me!

Although we had an issue with payment before our arrival, the communication between the two owners were outstanding and put our worries to bed.
The apartment was immaculate, the attention to detail was outstanding. The cabins were in a very quiet location, roughly 30 minutes from the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre.
We will definitely be coming back here with our next trip to Cradle Mountain.

Excellent accommodation, very private and personal. Lovely to watch the native animals. Self contained units and they gave us breakfast all prepared for us to cook the following morning. Thanks.

Are the other people reviewing this place on crack. So highly rated? !? ! Rooms are small, and in bad need of an update. It's basically a very old house that's been converted into cabins with a few old add on's around the property. We stayed in Hartz cabin which the bedroom wall literally connects to the kitchen of next door property. Its seperated by a thin piece of plaster board only. Very loud, not at all what you would expect staying in 'isolation'. Our neighbours stayed up past 12am in the kitchen for some reason so very little sleep. Outside there's no privacy in the gardens. All cabins are basically pointed and overlooking each other. Its also on a T intersection of a fairly busy road so lots of traffic noise of people day tripping over to cradle mountain. We paid $215 per night which on reflection there's better options out there at this price point. We literally chose this place because of the reviews. The breakfast is 3 1/2 pieces of bacon, 4 eggs, a tomato and half a loaf of bread. Could be better, could be worse. Also no wifi, no reception, very uncomfortable bed, bugs and dirt on the window sills. The one positive is the bathroom which was well appointed but unfortunately not enough to overlook the other points. I can see what the proprietor is trying to achieve here. There is potential but either stick with a lower price point or spend some money and update the rooms a little more.

Just our kind of place. Peaceful, clean, well equipped. Easy to get to all of the best local hikes.

Unfortunately our cabin, the Wellington, was not spacious as advertised on the website. It seemed to be the smallest cabin in the complex. There was barely any room between the bed & the kitchen & I ended with bruising on both thighs from banging into the corner of the bed every time I needed something from my luggage. The only place to sit inside is at the kitchen counter or the bed. The mattress on the bed is lumpy & uncomfortable. The massive spa bath didn't work properly. The cabin is poorly constructed & appears to be a dodgy add on to a much bigger cabin.

The positives are the location; it's a 20 min drive to Cradle Mountain & there is a decent restaurant (the pizzas are amazing!) within walking distance of the cabin. We were provided with ham & eggs on arrival to cook ourselves for breakfast, which was lovely, but it was only supplied for 1 day & we were there for 3 days!

If we had to stay in this area again, we would be checking out different cabins.

Wowowowow. I really need to say that the photos DO NOT do it justice. I booked because it looked great, location and had all the facilities I required and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. But when we drove in, the surroundings were just beautiful. Then when we walked into the cottage, just wow. It’s so gorgeous and spacious. I wanted to buy it out right haha!

5 stars if you like rustic, wood fireplace, spa, nature, great friendly hosts, equipped and stocked kitchen. 4 stars if you expect concierge service at reception and a salon.

What a nice place nestled in the mountains. Facilities are quite decent. However we could hear the people next door moving around. Apart from that its a quite place with serene views. We stayed 2 nights. Its a bit hard place to get to no matter which side you come but when you reach here the things are really nice. The rooms were clean and warm. The heater was on for us on the day and yes it gets cold this time of the year. Thats the beauty. We enjoyed the rain and the forrest through our window.

Lovely. We read plenty of horror stories before our arrival. We figured that these were from prior to the new owners starting improvements. We found the place to be fine.
There were plenty of complaints about the mobile phone coverage. There is mobile phone coverage if you are with Telstra, but that goes for most of regional Tasmania. The other companies will tell you that their coverage is only a poofteenth behind Telstra's, but that's an awful lot of Tasmania's regional population. So the moral of the story is if you're not with Telstra you're not likely to get coverage.

People have complained that it's a long way from Cradle Mountain. It's not. A 20 minute drive maybe. If you're expecting it to be on Cradle Mountain's doorstep then you haven't studied the map. This is the Cradle-Coast municipality. Hence the name Cradle Alpine Retreat. Nowhere in Tassie is an easy 2 minute drive if you want to see wilderness without paying through the nose for it.

The accommodation is 3 1/2 star, so don't expect 5. There was bacon and eggs waiting in the fridge. There was also bread and spreads. The kitchen is well equipped. We have been warm and comfortable. The spa is of a generous size for 2. There is no wood heater in the Roland chalet in which we stayed. Yet the heating is adequate without being excessive. This is in the winter time so that's fine. There is a Bluetooth speaker/radio. A tv/DVD combo. A set top box. There is a Wi-Fi dongle supplied if you really need internet. It will cost you to recharge it. But it's the best the hosts can do with what is available. I know, I've lived in Tassie for 2/3 of my over 50 years. Regional S. A before that. 2 TV channels back then.

Anyhow, for what we paid we were very happy! It's clean, comfortable and tranquil in a bush setting. Lovely.
