Don’t walk past this old pub. There is so much history inside it is a must see when walking around Evandale. Stop for a coffee, cold drink, lunch or dinner but do stop.

We were planning our wedding at Clarendon Arms until the staff there tried to force on us sitting inside - not allowing us to make our own decisions on the biggest day of our lives. Staff rudely told us to come back later when we tried to speak with staff on the day before our wedding. Horrible attitude. I genuinely hope that this post prevents others from going through what we went through!

As always lovely atmosphere and setting outside in the beer garden. Sadly my meal was very average. I ordered a $28 salt and pepper squid and got 7 small pieces of mass produced frozen squid, like the squid you get from the frozen section of the supermarket. At that price point I assumed it would be crumbed in house. I was so disappointed as the similarly priced salt and pepper squid at a number of other establishments are mouthwatering.

Quite high prices for an average meal, it's a shame to see the beef and Guinness pie leave the menu after the revamp.

Great food, excellent range of beers and good service. The building is very interesting. Full of history. Best to sit upstairs or outside.

Stopped here in desperation as all the cafes were closed and we were in dire need of coffee - what a delightful surprise. Gorgeous decor, delightful ambiance, lovely coffee and gorgeous light cakes.

Friendly and helpful staff, very nice beer garden and interesting food and drink options celebrating local ingredients. And its an interesting historic inn as well.

Recently had a lovely meal and coffee at Clarendon Arms. Although, Sadly the service was extremely poor, a bit of friendliness and enthusiasm from the younger staff members would have made the overall experience wonderful. I’m sure some staff customer service training would be very beneficial to the business, as our waiter was rude and bland from the get go.

Nothing else like it! The Clarendon Arms is perhaps the most ornate pub in Australia, beautifully decorated with a cosy, heritage feel. The wall paintings, depicting scenes of Tasmanian history, make this a fascinating visit. Food and drink offerings are divine. We were out touring during the day but enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Clarendon before heading out on the road.and it set the bar very high indeed.

Nice feed and good service. Prices are a little over but comparable with other venues of this calibre.

A beautiful old pub with an excellent beer garden and the food was delicious. The staff were very friendly. Please stop and have a feed.

We have been to the Clarendon Arms several times this year while visiting family, and it’s quite honestly an overrated pub that charges outrageous prices for substandard fare. The place itself is quite pretty; the private rooms are nice and the outside area is very pleasant on a sunny day. But we could not get past the exorbitant prices this pub charges for the smallest quantities and food that is nothing special at all. The best meal we’ve had here was a serving of thick-cut chips for lunch. Everything else is much too overpriced and underwhelming. It would be nice if they served something simple like a burger or a schnitzel, but the menu obviously caters to people who are happy to fork out money for something they think constitutes “fancy fare”. We ordered two antipasto boards which, for $16, is a tiny serving, and was missing the arachini balls. When they brought them up they gave us three (apparently each “platter” has one and a half aranchini balls. For the price you’d think we’d get three per board. And a serving of bread and butter is $10. The waitresses are very nice but my sister ordered an expensive main meal which came twenty minutes after we’d all finished our own meals. The owner should put their wealth to good use and hire more staff. We all agreed that next time we'll just get some burgers somewhere else!

So much history and art, visit anytime for different experiences in different parts of the establishment!

Lovely food (including a truly fantastic fish pie and ancient grain salad), lovely decor and atmosphere, good beers, and not super busy. Let down a notch by incredibly slow service

Loved the outdoor eatery, the food and the building itself. It truly is a step back in time. Beautifully renovated

Very popular pub in Evandale with a large beer garden and rooms of various size for indoor use.

Wonderful venue and great food, in a lovely little heritage town. The beer garden is excellent and in most weather just perfect for lunch.
Unfortunately today’s experience was sub standard. Orders were taken, however we were not told that one of the items was sold out. Two orders arrived but not the third. When the staff were asked about the order the response was poor, another meal ordered and then that did not arrive. When that order was cancelled the response was again, not very customer friendly.
Disappointing.

10/10 for beautiful building and furnishings.
However the rest of the experience was average.
Staff seemed disinterested and service was slow. Ordered 2 coffees and banana bread. Drinks came quickly and we had finished before the (toasted) banana bread arrived cold 10mins later.
Kitchen dosent open until midday on Sunday which seems a bit late given its market day.
The choice of (rather loud) music playing did not enhance the ambience of such a stylish looking place.
