Bar Wa Izakaya reviews
59One of the best ramens I’ve had! And the eggplant ain’t too shabby either! Lovely place to have lunch; friendly staff, great beer & wine selection and delicious food.
Incredible experience. Atmosphere, music, service, food and drinks were all incredible. So glad I found this place while passing through!
A great buzzy place with excellent food. Sublime oysters, half price in happy hour. Staff so accommodating - find you a spot when booked out. Go!
Restaurant and bar has the feel of a izakaya in Tokyo. Food was ramen for lunch and share plates for all day dining. We had four share plates which were great for lunch. Japanese beers and a shared sake flight was a good fit. Service friendly and helpful. Recommended
Cool vibing little restaurant. Pork belly was tender and sweet. The potatoes were crispy and perfectly seasoned.
Best Japanese restaurant I’ve been to in Australia.
Huge selection of Japanese alcohol. All the dishes were great but highly recommend the Sanbaizu oysters, Harusame Sesame Noodle Salad, Sashimi, and the pork gyoza.
Ordered 6 dishes between my partner and I and they were all amazing. Reasonably priced to. Will be back next time we're in tassie
My go to. Bar Wa Izakaya is my first stop whenever I’m in Hobart. Their food is incredible, the drinks list is like a novel and their staff are always amazing. Thanks for just being awesome!
No wonder this place is as popular as it is. Great food (excellent range of dishes), great atmosphere and fast, friendly service.
Venue itself is cool and I see why people like it. Food was very hit and miss, staff were a total miss - moving empty plates to make room for new plates but not taking them away? Which we did pass this on to a waitress when we paid four our meals. I'd come back for a drink, cocktails were great!
My family and I visited this place twice during our holiday to Hobart. We loved it because the dishes were fresh, tasty and well presented. Drinks menu had a great variety of Japanese imports. It was also family friendly and had a welcome atmosphere. I liked how the bathrooms had the Japanese toilets and the Japanese language lessons playing- really cool. Staff were excellent and good looking too.
This restaurant was a great find it has a busy friendly atmosphere very reminiscent of restaurants in Japan and the food was excellent.
Delicious food and drinks, cozy atmosphere, important to book in advance. Very attentive staff as well, thanks for a great dinner!
Nice place, inside the decoration it's really creative and the food was amazing. Also friendly staff willing to help you. Another good thing it's open on Mondays.
Staff are very impressive, recommend the banquet, very accommodating for people who have food allergies, in on their banquet. Highly recommend.
The food was good but the restaurant could not accommodate a dietary requirement in a banquet. One rude staff too
We had an excellent experience here. From the street it doesn't look like much and it looks small. Little do you know but it extends all the way back, is a big restaurant and is busy at 6.30pm! Great service. Delicious cocktails and authentic Japanese food. I'd definitely return. Be sure to book.
Favourite dishes were the gyooza, pickled vegetables and tempura oysters. The okonomiyaki and tofu weren't as good, they lacked flavour and the okonomiyaki seemed a little undercooked. Without the octopus it seemed a little lacking in flavour and texture too.
Otherwise, super impressed! Highly recommend.
Went here for lunch yesterday and it was great! Really beautiful interior design and the staff were very accomodating to my coeliac dietary requirements. Sashimi portion sizes could be bigger: would definitely come back!
A bit disappointed after reading all of the five star reviews for Bar Wa. Oyster happy hour finished prematurely at 5: 15pm because they'd run out- staff member explaining this thought it was funny (I didn't- I came here for oysters!). The food was mediocre at best (except the mushrooms) and the service came across as a bit fake. Do make a reservation if you're keen but- it was jam packed.
Wow this little place was amazing! The food wonderful staff great, they even provided wheelchair ramps. Our only issue was they reminded us 5 times that we only had a 2 hr sitting. Our sitting was from 5-7 and at 6.30 while we were finishing our drinks they reminded us again that our sitting was only 2hrs, which we realised after being told 4 times already. That was the only disappointing thing about our experience. Perhaps just let people know when you seat them then let them enjoy their meal.
