Look it was good the pool and stuff but
we were promised they will be netflix and that said i.t will come and they never did and they said we won't have netflix even when there are 4 kids in the room and we even had it last year at full occupancy
and it is really disappointing and the beds are rock solid
DONT COME HERE

Really fantastic family friendly park to stay and play. The pool is really warm, the slides are fantastic, there's a games room, a gym, bouncing pillow, playgrounds, go-karts, bikes, access to the beach via a gate. It's safe, the shacks are clean and have everything you'd want. Absolutely cannot recommend enough!

My partner and I just stayed here. We came back today, and let's just say I didn't want to leave! It was such a great experience despite the weather not being on our side, haha.

A great range of things to do, such as the heated pool with the two water slides, Go Karts, Games Room, etc. Would definitely be a hit with kids also!

An opportunity to pass through the Beach Gate to access the Marina and surrounds such as Oceanique, the beach, and a view of Glenelg in the distance is also on offer.

Within walking distance is the West Beach Adventure Park, West Beach Caravan Park, West Beach Mini Golf, Big 4 Holiday Park, and West Beach Patisserie and Eatery.

You're not stuck with things to do here!

For the stay:

I definitely recommend the Safari Tents option as a place of stay if you want to experience the Glamping side of things. Very lovely with its kitchenette, bunks, day bed, and outdoor bath. The feel is very inviting inside, and it features tea and coffee making, a mini fridge for your bits, and a decent sized shower with three ways to wash.

Overall, West Beach Retreat was an awesome experience. Everything, including the staff, was perfect, and I'll definitely want to come back in the New Year.

Thankyou

The heated pool and slides are amazing being Adelaide with the weather up and down the family can still enjoy the pool.
The rooms are a bit of a let down, the drains smelt bad. The beds are uncomfortable and the pillows are hard we actually had to go out and purchase new pillows.

Good park for the family cabins are a little dated but still comfortable. Only downside is the proximity to the airport but if you're flying that's perfect

Home away from home.
Been visiting here for over 30 years.
Some cabins need updating.
Staff are welcoming and helpful/friendly.
Security access puts one at ease from unnecessary people being on the premises.
Always updating recreational facilities.
Wish could live here for a month.

We are a family of 5 and during the holidays we like to go on a staycation. Usually it is in a hotel in the city or Glenelg, but we thought we would give this spot a go after hearing great things. Anyway we had a great time, the grounds are big and secure so the kids could venture off and play with other kids without worry. The outdoor cinema is great and the rooms were clean and neat. Why stay in a hotel when you can have all this for less $$

We keep coming back but notice maintenance on older villas is very poor. Having larger villas & room to move is what we love. Our dislike is the noise from planes taking off around 6am think we counted around 30 in 1st hour. During COVID lockdown was really quiet. Beach nearby is great in summer. Kids have plenty of safe areas to play & run around.

We recently stayed there an it was over priced for what it is and the two shack we stayed in ain’t kids friendly my son nearly fell out of the window of the high set shack cos they don’t have locks on the windows anthe screens r push out so he nearly fell out. An he only 3 year old. And the front door didn’t closed Properly so my other 2 kids could get out they r 2 year old and 10 months old and most of the fridge shelf were missing and the kitchen was dirty when we check in and planes goin over all the time so it was noisy from them so I won’t call it a retreat for a family with young children cos there wasn’t much there for younger kids to do. Response from the owner

Thank you James for sharing your review - we are sorry to hear that your shack at The Retreat did not meet your expectations during your family stay. We do appreciate your feedback and do hope to welcome you back again to stay at our BIG4 Holiday Park property that does cater well for pre-school aged children. Wil be sure to pass on your feedback to our management team! An I would like to have some Sort of reimbursement As youse were well aware The ages of our kids before checking in because you asked for it on your check-in And staff were well aware because they seen our kids when we went in to complain so I would like some sort of reimbursement thank you and manager to contact me as your response is pretty poor with know that we had young kids so use should tell us at check in that it not suited for small children

Nice place to getaway without traveling too far. We loved the pool and slides for the kids, only problem was that noise of the airport that the kids couldn't sleep. But overall was good

Loved our family experience for a week. Everything you need to relax and entertain with adults and young children. Very safe.

The accommodations are definitely of better build than Big 4 West Beach. They're definitely not luxurious but they are pleasant. The build of the resort is very spread out and spacious. There is a heated pool, jumping pillow, game room and a playground in the middle of the resort, all of which are a great way to occupy kids. The beach is a 10 minute walk away with great food at the restaurant.

Excellent facility and well managed, however, at the top of the Big Wedgie, the floor is smelly and dirty. Could use a more frequent washdown to improve the smell and dirty factor. Otherwise a great facility.

We stayed in December in the Safari Tents. We were very excited, after staying over at the Big 4 numerous times. We assumed the tent would at least be safe, comparing to the Big 4 Eco tent you could zip it shut the whole way around. Very scarily, the whole front wall of the safari tents were straped down every half a metre only. This meant you could lift quite a large gap so you could go inside and outside easily under it, with no way to seal thus shut.
We discovered this by our 1 year old escaping. When we got outside he was by the stairs ready to fall.
We knew we couldn't stay after this, knowing both someone could enter so easily and that our children could escape so easily. Going into your 'home' and not feeling safe inside felt pointless.

We went to reception and were advised they would log it as feedback. I has to ask to move and the lady found us another property and we had to pay the gap of $200. She was kind resolving, but I didn't feel it was understood we were put in an unfair situation of safety being compromised. If we knew how easy people could access or exit then we would never book, safety was just assumed as a minimum. We would have felt much safer pitching up a tent and felt like we had to stick the rest of the holiday out, a further $200 down after paying the safari tent price

It's left a bit of disappointment for us. We hope it has been resolved since and nothing awful has happened with other families. Please check before you book! That aside, the tent had not a single place for storage of clothes. The baths on front deck are very open for the chalets to see you.

We moved to the sand dune which were better but we were really out of pocket through no fault of our own so it dampened the rest of the stay.

For the price it was ok. We got a two bedroom apartment for the night. It was fairly well laid out. The beds were comfy and the apartment didn't get any outside noise until the morning when aeroplanes were flying over. Even that wasn't too bad. My biggest complaint would be that both the tv in the main bedroom and the one in the loungeroom was too small. Check-in was quick and easy; check-out was even quicker. Unfortunately we didn't get time to use all of the facilities, but they have a pool with water slides, beach, high ropes course and heaps more.

Kids loved the water park and the grounds. The only downside if any was the condition of the cabins. They need a fresh coat if paint and mould removed from wet areas. Will go back though.

From the previous reviews it doesn't look like the owners of this so called resort have tried or are interested in remedying any of the issues raised. And the owners response is very underwhelming.
I also had the misfortune of staying in number 12 "Saltbush Shack". It looks as though everything is done on the cheap and lackadaisical cleaning.
1. Large dirt smudges along the walls above the beds
2. Beds aren't moved to vacuum
3. No privacy curtains/blinds in main living area; I like to see out the windows during the day, but don't like that every man and his dog can see into the cabin.
4. No floorplan provided on website to show that people have to walk through a bedroom to access the toilet
5.1 small soap only provided, no shampoo and no wash clothes provided
6. Mould in the shower
I do not recommend this caravan park. There are better, cleaner and cheaper elsewhere in Adelaide.

Celebrating a significant birthday in style! We hired all three of the brand new Safari Tents located in The Retreat at West Beach Parks. These were absolutely gorgeous. Set out with modern facilities with a great shower and inside bathroom. Beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen had a microwave and fridge. To top it off the balcony boasted a beautiful claw foot bath. Yes i did hop in even though its the middle of winter.
